FirsttimeARE and I definately have hard tap water which means growing a hydro plant just from water seems... a bit.... un-factual. Yes, un-factual. Similar to a factual fact.
Do a little googling and see for yourself.

Let me get this right, your growing a plant to flower on just water? Is that possible? No disrespect but sounds unbelievable to me... my baby has been on pure water for not even two weeks and looks like its lacking something.

i did it once to see if I could and she didn't die but yielded much less than normal and looked terrible at the end. Again, do a Google search, you'll find other people have done it.

Hey Juldan!

I started some seeds on the 22nd of February which is my first grow as well. On Friday I posted that they looked down in the dumps.., similar to yours! Anyways... I raised the water level that I top off daily and gave a little bit of nutes and it seems to have helped! Checkout my thread for some pics...

Yes, absolutely.. Pointers.. Raise the EC to 1.4 using just a+b. Water the netcups with that water until the roots come out.. Seriously!! don't bother with the plain water bullshit. Just start it that high from the beginning.

Something's lacking alright! It's the advice in the DWC section!

The number 1 issue DWC noobs have is underfeeding seedlings, and they're always recommended to underfeed even worse. It usually takes weeks before the noob realizes they're being guided by plant starvers.

Church you dont think 1.4EC is too high? I have a full grown plant 4 weeks in flower that burned from 1.4 EC

I do agree with u that most peoples issues are underfeeding when they first start. Most likely overfed and became afraid and began to underfeed.

This dont feed until three sets is bs. My plants dont get that far with no nutes. This is advice given to soil growers whose organic soil comes with enough nutes to get it going for a few weeks. I mean where the hell is this plant going to grow from? The inert medium? No. They need something.

I would think 1.4 is too high if I haven't been doing exactly that for years. I used to start lower (not 0), but now i just mix the same concentration for everything, all ages, and it has never caused seedlings to start shriveling up. Why would it? 1.4 isn't too high, it's perfect!

Think about it, when you build a soil, it should have a good amount of nutrients in it already, and become depleted over the period of the grow. I've always found inching up EC slowly to be somewhat backwards.

Was only commenting on my experience. I have huge bushes in flower right now that anything more than 1.2EC it burns and EC rises.

well in continuation this thread I have questions too! I'm using canna aqua fert. Really confused on this seedling fertilizer. I watched a great video on youtube on fertilizing seedlings. When they are a few days old 1/4 strength. About two weeks do 1/2 strength. And when the cotlydons fall off (baby leaves) the plant is officially in veg. heres my problem...Canna nutrient recommendation burned the hell out of my plants! So instead I Went with the veg recommendation and went 1/4 strength. If I used their seedling recommendation at 1/4 strength it would be almost literally nothing. Does anybody have any comments or use these products?

Whats the target EC of the Canna?

Quarter strength means quarter what Canna says. Not quarter strength for seedling feed.
