Nugs or ground when smoking bowls

1. is it better to break down your weed when you smoke out of a bowl? or,
2. is it better to just light the nugs up in the bowl
which do you prefer/think is better?

personally i like to break it down not into super fine dust, but just a couple quick twists with a grinder is usually good for me.

I have a friend who only smokes nugs in bongs because he thinks if you break it up you lose THC and it gets all over your fingers...

I'm a grinder man, steel grinder with keif catcher. Works out great for me.

i mostly grab little nugs and pinch 'em to pieces, or manually fluff 'em up to promote airflow

I second this.
Grinding is a waste, if you want keef, get a box. Fingers are ok if you're buying mexican field grass,
but that probably means you can't afford scissors anyway. Fiskars are the only thing
that ever cut into one of my buds.

Just seems unnecessary...If I smoke a bowl of bud cut from scissors, broke up with fingers/grinder, whatever it's not like oh I got super high from that scissor cut bud, it's all in the strain, grind that shit, smoke that shit!... IMO...

i'm a grinder to the core, don't know how i lived the first 20 years of my smoking life without one... greatest creation ever imho.. and i love the fact that after awhile i can unscrew the bottom and get all of my kief and put it into my press and make a wicked ball of hash out of it.. my god, lil round balls of golden goodness, lol.. don't know what i'd do without one honestly..

scissor cuts into little nugs over a tray, pack the chopped nugs then add the trimmings. win win buds and the small stuff (like from a grinder)

scissor chop that bud a little.good thing about using scissors is the scissor hash you can accumulate.

yea im another scissor user, i used to have a grinder but the cops took it, i loved saving up the kief and topping jays and bowls with that.

Normally i vape most of my bud - that's just the way to go for taste without competition.
But when i use the bong i like the more hashish taste from the whole bud compared to ground bud. Seems like you burn and smoke more just trichomes and less bud. Doesn't burn as well though.

Don't smoke whole buds. Doesn't work very good. Grind it. Or pull it apart with your fingers. Or use scissors. Putting a whole bud in your pipe is like trying to light a piece of wood with a lighter.

I use the pinch/crumble method and try to only touch a couple points or outside edges of the nug. I dust my fingers off into the bowl. The thc lost is negligable. I don't like grinders though, changes the flavor sometimes.
