NPK in stages...?

What is the proper NPK ratio of the nutrients during vegetation and flowering? Also, should NPK of soil match? +rep

Although I'm fairly new also, I believe I could be of some help. From the info. I've gathered, the vegetative stage likes lots of Nitrogen, so a ratio high in N would work better, I've read something like 20-5-5. During the flowering process, it's better to have higher levels of Potassium as well as Phosphorus. Something like 5-15-15 I hear works.

Hope this helps! P.S. this and much more information can be found on these forums by simply searching through the stickies!

A ratio of 1-1-1 for veg and
1-3-2 for flower

those are ratios not actual values

my nutes are NPK 20-20-20 for veg
and 10-30-20 for bloom

so you like to use a little more phosphorus than typical (from what i've heard) during veg...any reason for that? just wondering...i do notice that you use more nitrogen in veg than flower +rep

Again I am new, and obviously already someone has posted something different than me so I could be wrong (not wrong, but really, everyone has a preference). But anyway, I've read that P helps with stem and overall plant growth, while K helps with the flowering itself. Nitrogen helps solely on growth which is why it's needed for vegetative growth. Once this part is done, N isn't needed as much, hence the lowering of levels.

*AGAIN, I'm no expert. Just trying to help out.

No I like giving the plant what it needs

which means a balanced NPK for various stages and the rest of the 16 basic nute requirments

I'm a keep em green guy :bigjoint: I like bigger buds

yeah dude...i dont know a whole lot but 2-0-0 can't be doing much. MG bloodmeal is cheap as hell and would be way more beneficial than that stuff (12-0-0). Just don't feed too often and feed in small doses

I use, pretty much, the same soil mix through all stages of growth (except young seedlings). My soil mix includes a modest amount of composted manures (a variety), as well as two different brands of dry organic (meal based) fertilizers. I got everything in there from Blood and Bone meal to Alfalfa and Feather meal (not to mention all the "Micro-organisms" you could shake a stick at!). The goal of this "Wide Variety" of nutrients is to give a balanced amount of N-P-K, roughly equal values for all three. The strength, or "potency", of the overall soil mix is kept "a little low" on purpose; because I suppliment it as needed on an ongoing basis.

As I said earlier, I use the same basic soil mix through all stages of growth; just "more of the same" at each and every repotting.

During the veg cycle, I spike the "N" a little with regular Alaska fish emulsion (5-1-1) and "Mexican" Bat Guano (10-2-1).
During the flowering cycle, I spike the "P&K" a little with "Mor Bloom" Alaska fish emulsion (0-10-10) and "indonesian" Bat Guano (0-12-0).

I'm a fairly recent convert from "Big Name Brands" (expensive and sometimes hard to find), to "Roll Your Own" (cheap and available almost everywhere). And I lean towards the "Organic" approach, but it's more like a "State of Mind" than it is a religion with me.
