Now is the time for Republicans to embrace

The govt needs/wants a way to tax it some how, some way.

I'd be more than happy with legal grow and possess myself and would even buy a license to do so, as I do for hunting and fishing
I'm not worried about taxes.
I'm worried about restrictions.
There is no way to sell commercially without the
-USDA
-FDA
-ATF
-Treasury Department getting involved

And you know that as soon as it was legalized Corporate interests would try to get legislation making it against the law to produce and sell it.

in Colorado there are 136 pages of laws on the books just for selling
And more pages on how many plants you can grow for personal use

In Arizona you cannot grow legally within 25 miles of a dispensary.
In Illinois you cannot buy medical if you have a Felony

make it simple
Legal to grow and possess
Illegal to sell

If everyone grew. There would be no market. And nothing would stop you from giving it away if you wanted

Look, all I'm saying is, when a 50+year old woman finds herself single and self supporting, the last thing you would expect them to do is waste time on a pot forum. I understand you say you're taking some college courses to better yourself but, really, don't you have more important things to do right now? Couldn't you devote the time you spend on here to finding a part time job and bring in some extra money?
actually, i've made a careful study of "on the dole" and if you haven't figured it out yet..i'm doing the EXACT same thing that the 1% do..they use loopholes and so do i..

also, thank you for your donation to the $830 refund that i will receive from paying NO taxes in 2013.

just continue to grow at home, if it's for personal and basic gift giving like moonshine, micro-brew..unless they conduct door-to-door, how would they know?..bigger fish to fry than the home grower.

if you wanted to do commercial, well then you pull licensing just like any other business and pay taxes accordingly.

I would be very supportive of total legalization including selling if it didnt restrict being able to grow your own.
But what advocates forget is that even after alchohol prohibition ended it wasnt until 1978 that the feds allowed you to brew your own beer at home. The last state to fold on home brewing was Alabama last year. Sometimes the biggest enemys of ending prohibition are those that are profiting from it.

What about people who can't or won't grow their own and want to buy it?

Well there will always be people willing to take a risk for the right amount of money;-)

And if it was legal to grow and possess

How much do you think cops would care?

Understood, but a 50+year old middle aged woman on her own is a scary proposition, the last thing I would expect you to do is waste time on a pot forum. Are taking a few college courses enough, don't you agree you have more important things to do right now? Couldn't you devote the time you spend on here to finding a part time job instead of living entirely off tax payer money?

If everyone was "allowed" to grow, something you are unfamiliar with would happen.....freedom. All of the bureaucracy you mention above is not a justification for continued bureaucracy and continued jailing people for engaging in consensual behavior.

Nothing should stop anybody from giving it away or engaging in free trade. Laws and bullshit regulations that do, restrict freedom. People that advocate restrictions on free choices are enslavers. So you are not only a prohibitionist slave, you lick the boots of the enslavers. What is wrong with letting people make their own choices?

Why does Obama bother making a speech saying MJ is less harmful than alcohol, yet do nothing about the issue?
Did he even voice his opinion about what is going on at state levels in pro-mj states?
He is doing something
Not busting those that comply with state laws in legal states
Holder is now coming up with guidance for Banks that want to deal with the money

Why you complain so much about the Black man in the White house?

Hey Boy ROb

Try making some beer or whiskey AND selling it
Or how about Cigarettes?
maybe you can produce some Pharmaceuticals and sell them?

Now lets get to some meaty questions

What have you accomplished in life?

Anytime you involve the government and seek permission to engage in peaceful and consensual behavior you enable the stupidity. You might consider that you own yourself and seeking permission is a form of slavery.

A person is enslaved when they are forbidden to exercise dominion over themselves or their property or when "permission" must be sought and granted to do the same..

That still gives the cops a reason to kick down your door and charge you with dealing whether it is happening or not.

You cant have an up front discussion of legal pot sales without bringing up strawmen like sales to 12 year olds? Do you think the dealer up the street currently has standards?? LOL!!!

Regulate it like alcohol. Yes, kids are going to get it but they get it now. Work on prevention not punishment...

If you regulate it like alchohol
Then
1 You wont be able to sell it without a few hundred grand investment
2 you would have all the same Alphabet agencys that you would have to comply with Including inspection of your facilities

Thanks for reiterating my concern about the legal commercial sale of Marijuana

You can start here reading the 136 pages of laws for retail sales of Marijuana in Colorado
Imagine how many more regs there will be if the Feds allow it as well
