Northern Light Nirvana CFL grow

I'm starting this journal 12 days into my little girl breaking the surface. She is a feminized Northern Light seed from the Nirvana seed bank. Soil is seedling starter soil made at a local garden supply store. She will be entirely grown under a mix of 2700k and 6500k 40 Watt, 150 watty equivalent bulbs.

So far I am extremely happy with her growth. Seems to be staying nice a short and filling out sideways. Since I am only growing this one plant, my game plan is to top her once she developes her 5 set of leaves to increase my overall yield and avoid the Christmas tree shape that's is such a pain in the ass to light with cfl bulbs.

Once I've topped her and let her recover for a week or so, I will transplant into a 3 gallon pot filled with Fox Farm Ocean Forest, switch my lights to 12/12 and then just let her do her thing. As for nutes, I have Jacks all purpose fertilizer and also Jacks Blossom booster that I will use if I feel she starts needing some supplements. Although from what I read and have found is that the ffof seems to hold the plant over pretty well for the first month or so without needing to add any additional nutes to the water.

Anyway, that's my start to this journal. Happy growing and stay tuned! 20150226_090215.jpg IMG_1356.jpg IMG_1352.jpg

Day 13 (my last post was really day 11)

She's growing fast and bushy! The exact reason I chose to go with the NL. She's growing her 4th node so far so I'm expecting in another week or so to top the 5th node once it starts to develop. So far so good! Stay tuned

Day 15

Removed ol girl from her solo cup crib and moved her into her big girl bed. She's now resting in a 3 gallon pot with Fox Farm ocean forest. Still a few days away from topping her. After I've topped her then I'll let her recover from the shock for about a week. Then it's 12-12 light cycle.IMG_1487-1.jpgIMG_1491.jpg IMG_1495.jpg IMG_1489.jpg

IMG_1573.jpg Day 18

She seems to be doing really well in the new pot and Fox farm soil. She has been growing vigorously lately and starting to have a great smell. Topped her today just above the 4th node and will do a little lst soon to open her up and let some light in to the bud sites. Plan to switch light cycle to 12-12 in about a week once she gets over the shock of the topping.

Day 23

Have some bad news. While off at work my wife has been caring for ol girl and tragically one of the lights fell on her overnight and scorched a large area. So I'm going to do a little damage control and trim the burnt areas and let her veg out awhile longer to see if she recovers. I have no doubt she'll be just fine in the end but I'm sure it will grow kind of odd and def not symmetrical anymore. We shall see. IMG_1586.jpg

That's crazy Bc I'll be gone for work for a few days nd my wife's gonna have to get her hands dirty... watering them. But your last post how long did it take to get to that point

Day 26

She has recovered quite well from the burning it seems. Looks like only one of the nodes was scorched beyond healing. Appear to have 7 tops now. I decided to switch her to 12 and 12 today so I added some Cal mag to her water for the next couple weeks. Her next watering will get a light dose of Jacks Blossom Booster to see how she responds. She has only been in her current Ocean forest soil for a tad over a week now so I'm not going to go crazy with the Jacks. Now comes the fun part! 20150323_182600.jpg20150323_182622.jpg 20150323_182725.jpg 20150323_191017.jpg 20150323_191023.jpg

Day 30 from sprout/5 in flower.

Things are going great, she's been doing a bit of stretching the last few days so I've been tying her down to maintain the canopy height. Which has also let in a tremendous amount of light into the center of the plant so now I have quite a few more inner bud sites starting to grow out and form. So far flowering she has gotten a low dose Jacks Blossom Booster with some Cal mag in it, with regular pHd tap water in between. She looks great and has a wonderful aroma already. My wife and I can't wait til she really starts smelling good in the coming month. The last pic was taken 3 days ago and is just to reference how much the center of the plant has filled out since tying her down and letting in the light.

Day 11 flowering

Started noticing some slight leaf discoloration which looked like some sort of Cal mag deficiency so I decided to do a flush and start from scratch. When I started the flush the runoff I was getting was at about 5.7 pH so that prob didn't help the issue either. Ran about 8 gallons of 6.7 pH water through her. Anyway, caught it soon enough so hopefully this will take care of it. Going to start her on half strength blossom booster and 4 ml of Cal mag and keep a close eye on her. Otherwise she is looking fantastic and growing quite vigorously. Getting very bushy and has a delicious smell in the room at certain times of day. 20150401_162904.jpg20150401_162916.jpg 20150401_162837.jpg 20150401_162837.jpg 20150401_182422.jpg

Day 17 flowering (pic from the 8th)

Shes doing great now since the last flush and really seems to be doing some vigorous growth. Starting to get her deep green color back and loading up with white pistils. 1/4 tsp blossom booster and 3 ml Cal mag per gallon with every watering. Every third water is just plain pH water. She also had 11 cfl lights on her now. Don't mind my excited wife's snapchat text. Love my pot momma. Screenshot_2015-04-10-10-19-16.png 20150408_181315.jpg

Day 21 into flowering.

Ol girl is doing great, starting to focus on her pistil and resin growth and not so much on stretching and growing. You can notice in some of the pictures below some crystallization beginning to form on the leaves around the bud sites with tons of white hairs and new ones forming all day. She has a mild spicy/sweet aroma that changes its intensity throughout the day. Love it.
