Hey guys, as usual I love this site and all the help u give!

I'm getting ready to fire up mu GFab hydro setup (just waiting for the lil ones to germ) - pics to follow. I aged my water for about 4 days and got an initial read of 160ppm and ph 8.3 when I filled my res. Used 5ml of PH down for my 7gal bucket and it brought it down to 7.3 but this am it was right back up to 8.3.... used 7.5 ml down and it took it to 6.9.... my question is... wth!

How often and how much of this stuff to I have to use to maintain the 5.6 - 5.8 range? Is there a more effective way to lower and maintain PH?
Also I have one large (generic aquarium) air stone running and was wondering if I should run one more on a seperate pump.... Is there a thing as too much oxygen?

I'm determined to make this first grow (of bag seed - but already got my Attitude seeds in house! yay) a success and would love any input u have...

Cheers!

So thts just H2o and no nutes doing this........Something is not rt.Recalibrate your meter.Or try it with Distilled or another type of water source.IT should not do tht my water is real close to yours at 8.3 and when set at 5.8 with no plants or nutes it should stay.
I run 2 8" stones and a 60g Aquarium pump dual outlet per 5g Buckett.AS far as DO i have a old pump and a new one the plant with the new pump and stones does have a better root System.

Also my bloom nutes lower PH so always check PH last after adding nutes.

My thoughts exactly... idk what is going on...
As for the re-cal I have a question that 2... my cheap meter (yes the $15) came with 2 calibration packets...but my question there was if I use tap water won't that throw off the PH level of the powder (calibration powder)? I guess I could look that up though....
Cheers and thanks for the help!

I borrowed a friends PH meter was a Milwaukee sp.and was a piece of chit.Had to Calibrate everytime and then it went bad only had a 30 day warrnty, lol. You get what you pay for.........

Ha some day brotha...someday... I'm lucky I got away with buying all the shit I did... my lil 100.00 experiment went way out of control $$ wise...lol
Still I think this meter should work for a few grows.... once the buds flow I'm sure wifey will have a change of heart...:P

But the real question here is if there is a better way to lower and maintain PH other than using Aquarium PH down??

Cheers!!

Vinegar to bring it down (the strongest you can buy at the grocery store). Baking Soda to bring it up (regular Armand Hammer or is it Arm & Hammer?).
