You don't necissarialy need a grow tent, however it will help greatly with temperature and humidity regulation. It will also act as a sort of bug barrier since you are growing in soil. If you decide to opt out of the tent make sure you find somewhere that you can keep at aleast 40% humidity and 70degF for optimal growth. A grow tent may not be worthwile however if you have a closet that you can foil the walls in and keep at semi consisntent conditions.

the decision is totally up to you 420 , either one is fine for you're 1st grow, you're gonna learn allot anyway , Goodluck.

At the moment all I have is an open closet way with a load of clothes. So a tent may be the route to go. What size would you guys prefer for three plants?

mmm i love blackberries. be careful you don't get hurt on those thorns!

Suggest a healthy environment for the plants. Be sure your ventilation is adequate, and lightproof for the flowering cycle to have a secure 12 darkness period. Humidity and Temps don't have to be perfect, but they are easier controlled if you can adjust your exhaust speed.

I would also recommend not using ANY extra nutrients with FFOF. I use it all the time, and even cut it down with soil less mix. FFOF can provide your plants with everything it needs, just add water.

A 4x4 growsapce is a really nice room to have. It allows for 2 massive plants or 3-4 medium small
Personally I use a 2x4x5 (dxwxh) because it fits perfectly in a sliding door closet at my place. Try and make sure the plants have enough vertical room and 2x2 or more square feet of floor space.

Lose the nutes or lose the fox farm. Your guaranteeing problems, and destroying the mycological and microbiological aspect that make organic soil work by using the liquid nutes. If I were in your spot, I'd consider traditional soil amendments. Are you familiar with the idea of "super soil"?

If you already have the nutes, go soilless!
Less bug problems, bigger plants and buds.
Make a hempy bucket!
I bought my grow tent on amazon when it was super marked down, I got my geneva barns tent for $110, but the price went back up. I freaking love it, it is sturdy and super durable.

Skizors' option is absolutely another great way to grow successfully. What's good is with a few more dollars spent you can either have a great live organic soil, or you can go like skizors mentioned and go soiless, meaning that your medium (coco, peat, perlite, sand) has essentially no nutrients and everything your plants need will come from your water/liquid nutrients. Soilless is essentially hydro, and there is a few extra tools involve. Both organic and soilless have ups and downs that are covered heavily all over the interweb. Good luck either way.

Important questions.......... do you own or rent do you live alone or do you live with a parent or do you live with a significant other that does not share your last name....... all of these questions are important when deciding on which way to grow never put the cart before the horse homes if you do you're asking for trouble...!!!

He speaks troof. Might add some bloom nutes the last 2 waterings before flush, but can do well with none for sure. Your call.

Here is the system I use in my closet.

I usually add water with most strains, but some have needed a bit of help in flowering.
As packetloss stated above, adding some bloom food into your water can help if the plants ask for it, otherwise upcan with fresh soil, and add water.

Thanks for the replies. But I decided to just Wing one seed in open space. I want to get a cfl light. Does it have to be a certain watt equivalent or does it have to be a certain watt not equivalent

Ya bigger is better in terms of the cfl. Those little ones are ok for the first couple weeks but if you want to flower youll need much larger ones and a few of them.
The one piece of advice that will get you farther than any posted above is, read and research. Asking to be spoon fed leaves you at the mercy of the advice given to you.
For example, the advice to not go with ffof on your first grow and go soiless in my opinion is crazy. That would mean that being a noob your expected to know the proper feed, and dosage to feed your plant at every stage of development. Pffffff....youll mess it up. On the other hand, ffof will allow you to not have to touch a fertilizer bottle for the first month or more and then use lower than recommended doses after that since the soil has lots of nutrients already in it. Thats easy growing. Letting the soil grow the plants, not the nutrients. Read kid. Find out for yourself, dont trust internet banter.

Also don't let the whole "having to know exactly what is happening and what your plant needs at all times" thing scare you off... there are plenty of fully encompasing guides for soilless... especially if you are growing in a unenclosed area, bugs are going to be a problem in soil.

I would go for a 1m x 1m x 2m tent. Perfect for a 400W, check out my grow journal at the moment, im using a 600w in that space at the moment doing a one plant scrog. You will need to sus out an exhaust fan and filter if you don't want it smelling out the house.
