ok so once i have blasted my weed and have evaporated off the butane i add the everclear. the videos i saw there is then a reaction of more bubbling, however i do not get this reaction until i heat it (150 degrees)and then it is minimal at best. should i be getting a reaction? end product is amazing?

well what he is talking about is the butane reacts almost violently when you add etoh to un-purged bho

I know which video you are referring too.

I think the reason you are not seeing the reaction is because you evaporated off most of the butane prior to adding the Eveclear
so there isn't much reaction

In the video im refering to he adds the everclear to the dish before he evaporates off the butane (while the butane is still mosty liquid)
causing a definite reaction

also the video was a guide to make absolute shatter, and if that is your goal you should keep your temps around 115F

You only get a violent reaction if there is still standing butane when you add the EtOh.

What end product are you making?

As Texas(THC) said i am trying to make absolute shatter. Pretty much all butane is evaporated at the point i add my grain alcohol. (What is Etoh?) does there need to be some butane remaining when i add the alcohol? i assumed the more i cold evap off the better and hopefully cleaner my end product would be. Is the some type of chemical reaction that i need to take place that requires the alcohol and butane to mix at a certain ratio? any help is appreciated as i am a super noob at this and my experience in chemical reactions is in another area altogether. thanks everyone for the advice

What MP and T said about technojargon. It is the secret handshake we use to save time and cut through language barriers. See how well it works?

Doesn't matter when you add the alcohol, but I usually after visible butane is gone. There is no reaction between the butane and alcohol, only two different boiling point solvents and a loose matrix for the agitated butane molecules to escape from.

thank you all i appreciate it. I recently had someone tell me that they are making it and letting it sit in the freezer for a year to Cure or harden. ??Anyone ever heard of this?

No I haven't, and fail to see the benefit. Being carboxylic acid and solvent free makes the extract a shatter, and freezing would make it harder for the solvent to excape
