Just doing this to keep my mind off how much I want a fucking cigarette right now. It's 6:30am now haven't smoked since 8pm last night and I'm about to go crazy already. This is already like the 5th time I've tried to quit cold turkey this year. So imma use this thread to keep me busy whenever I want a smoke. Gotta work soon so after work I'll come back and post all the reasons one shouldnt smoke cigarettes. Maybe others who are struggling like me will come across this.

Get your doc to prescribe you some Zyban (generic Bupropion). It helped a friend of mine quit cold turkey somewhat easily. He was going thru hell the first 3 days, which are the hardest. He took Bupropion and it made a big difference.

Be careful of NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapies) like the gum and patches. They def help reduce cravings, but they are still nicotine and you're still gonna go through full withdrawal when you quit them. Get it over now. The first 3 days are the hardest. It gets slowly easier after that.

Good luck. Win this battle.

when i quit they were like $3 a pack and thought they were crazy high priced, now it's double. After the first year, i stopped at 7-11 to get something and the clerk was like, hey, where have you been, I'm like, i quit smoking, no need to come in here anymore.

well ive had to recently quit smoking cold turkey due to pregnancy

its defanitely not easy and i dont think i couldve done it if i wasnt having the thoughts of growing an child in me.

but i will say is cravings typically go away after 5 minutes until the next one
i still crave cigarettes and i havent smoked in 20 something weeks.

i will say not drinking alcohol helped me not give in, and not being around people who smoked for the first bit also helped.

I quit smoking 6.5 months ago. When I quit I watched this video and it made it REALLY easy to quit and go through withdrawals and I actually enjoyed it because I realized my body was changing. The first three days it's like you could feel the gas tank getting empty and the body searching for fuel. Just let it clear out. A few days ago my friend (who quit for a week when we started) went to get his cigarettes from his car and he's even more addicted to them now cause he gets really excited when he gets a craving and when he went to grab them he said he can see that now I have no more cravings for cigarettes anymore.

Fuck cigarettes. ..I quit cold turkey a long while ago and never went back
Same, it's a shame that only 4% of the smokers who try to quit make it over a year. Going on a decade here after 4 decades of smoking.
Was up to 2.5 packs a day on top of a 12 pack of beer. I have a problem with neither anymore.
OP, it was nothing for the first 36 hours, after that it got kind of serious and the urge didn't go away for months afterwards.
It does take a lot of willpower .

This is very good advice, The only reason I made it was I dropped the beer for awhile or I never would have quit.

I quit cold turkey 4-5 years ago. IMO it's the only way to quit.

Ciggerattes are not a health hazard to quit cold turkey. I've met very few people that actually quit when using the gum or patches. All my friends that quit just quit.

I' had my little circle of people try to drag me along to their quit smoking by hypnosis program.
I just fucking laughed and said have fun, I'll quit when I'm ready.
Each one who went bought all the merchandise they had there which was nothing but literature I believe.
Years and years later they're still smoking.
Willpower is where it's at.

it doesn't matter if you use something to take the edge off or not, if you REALLY want to quit, you will, i quit MANY times before the final time.
