Seeing as i didn't want to be doing much plant work on my bday (saturday) i figured id get to work now and lower the plants, mainly bc i noticed one has one really large second limb and the side with the shitty light hitting it the most has a noticeably smaller branch on the opposite side this caused me to want more of both lights to hit the plant evenly.

I think that's it for me going to call it an evening and find some grub...
Its been brought to my attention some bag seeds just have generally shitty genes, seeing as all of my plants are typically given about equal treatment and the nirvana seed seems to be doing just find no issues which leads me to believe alot of my issues are gene related. Not one leaf has entered claw mode on princess and princess is already forming the second and third set of stems, wow these auto flowers are fast.

What is your plan for smell?
Dont actually need one. There is a highly recommended gel that a friend used, i have revitalizers if necessary, the blue mystic seed does NOT smell.

I believe the Gel is called ONA. (http://www.amazon.com/Ona-Gel-Fresh-Linen-Scent/dp/B000BS6RKS) if you have no real $ to invest, i suggest revitalizers and the revitalizer spray for about 5 bux US u can rid yourself of most the smell pretty easily.

If you need pics or links let me know. I used the revitalizers when i lived with my mom, she was none the wiser and those plants STUNK day 10.

I dont have to mask much smell ATM living alone, always good to have a fail safe incase of company or the occasional maint crew coming to fix a stove or fridge.

2 Inches at a minimum a day.

If you want to call my plants lanky go ahead lol Guess they're a representation of the grower :P however i like the tall upward flowering types.

Only down side is i foresee me having to put them into flower soon lol otherwise they'll be too tall if i let them veg for an added four weeks.

it says they will be 56 inches if i let them veg for another 4 weeks given their pace. as u can see from the pics, one is already 14 inches aka over a foot tall, if i let it to until the end of april given the way they grown now and assuming no speed ups that 56 inches aka 4.6667 or 4.7 in my eyes and thats 7 inches TALLER than my current grow area lol

Still trying to figure it out and figure out when im going to throw them into flower >_>IMG_3176.jpgIMG_3177.jpgIMG_3175.jpgIMG_3178.jpgIMG_3179.jpgIMG_3180.jpg

Those ball like things are on all plants, don't know the botanical lingo for them, but they are part of the plant. I suspect they are there as a mechanism to make the joint between main stem and the branch stronger. But don't worry those are normal. They are not male testicular appendages.

Ty so much for the replies. Kinda came to what you said on my own about the plants. I just examined a buncha plants then deduced theres no way they can show sex without something to provoke it if its not an auto flower.

and huge big up for the confirmation on the ona gel, my gf is still whining about the smell so on payday im gonna order some just to shut her up when shes here lol.

Ill post pics later, but apparently something went horribly wrong and i got nute lock (MG STRIKES AGAIN)
given the shape of the plants now i am pondering if its best to start over as from the pruning they are super bare, and i just remembered that stress on the plant can cause hermies and given the stress these plants have suffered It might be the best idea to just scrap all these old plants a start fresh.

:(

IMG_3182.jpg IMG_3183.jpg Sooo im back. Scrapped the original plants from this grow as they developed some issue, either nute lock or nute def. I have the blue mystic its trying to struggle thru the issue (im assuming it was the MG dirt + sulfur + random gnats outta no where + bad luck)

I have germed 2 blue mystic seeds NEW 2 Short rider seeds new. I still have one seed which i assume is a blue mystic that is germing. It has cracked so in about 10 hours (i just teased it with water to get the tap to come out) and ill have the final number of plants.

Ive done quite a bit of NPK research, as well as other research so that I can finally produce a yield of home grown for my test.

And obviously i have pictures. I may or may not have pics saved of the plants right after they got their issues going badly. Most of them are in the dumpster out back awaiting trash day (stealth it outside @ 5 am right before the truck comes to collect the trash)

Im NOT going to start a new thread. I feel that's silly and wasting time, I will use this thread and resume posting every chance i get.IMG_3182.jpgIMG_3183.jpg IMG_3184.jpg IMG_3189.jpg IMG_3200.jpg IMG_3201.jpg IMG_3202.jpg IMG_3203.jpg IMG_3204.jpg IMG_3205.jpg

Well i did some work today and noticed someone was out saying hi.
Well actually i was in there impatiently messing with the soil and was like YAY FOUND IT! lol. Anywho it should be a short rider as the first one to show up.

All seeds have germed and have been put in pots, which means 6/6 germed and successfully potted nirvana seeds. Speaking of which, some pictures of the mutated princess... :(

Oh wait, it wont let me upload pics :( roll it up broken...

Hi BB, not been in for a while, still getting my head around this new look RIU. I think you already nailed it when you mention hot soil causing the symptoms shown in the pic, its happened to me but always cleared up when the plants get a little bigger, you also mention waterlogged roots, in a different way but hinting that there is not enough oxygen getting to the roots, I believe this may also be the case. I can suggest an old trick of mines to help out whilst your plants get bigger and able to handle these things--get a knitting needle or tent peg, something long and thin--gently poke it down a few times into the soil right to the bottom--lets oxygen down the holes into the soil, this helps out in thast regard. As for your possible root burn, water only with water and lay of the feed for a week or so, keep going and new growth will soon appear normal. Im delighted to see your still soldiering on here, you seem to have the proper enquiring mind to keep going and work out problems, well done so far.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I have learned quite a bit and i see that you give decent advise.

I have potted 5 new auto flowers, the old auto flower still blows in the wind here as its the only one i havent removed from the grow room as my gf said she thinks it can recover... It's been growing new leaves.

Its now missing two small branches as that was an accident but its trying.

Now for the good news. All the new seeds have popped. One of the Short rider seeds seems to have bad genetics or something as it came out rather brown looking, not sure why, and since they're new seeds they only get water as fox farms ocean forrest says they wont need nutes for a while as they have decent nutes in the soil already. and i am really remembering to take it heavy on the nutes.

I believe my old issue can be targetted to the sulfer i added to the soil to balance the ph.

FF dirt comes with a good 6.5 ph already where MG was over 7 i believe and they did well in that.

I am going to keep watching the one short rider that doesnt seem to be taking off, if necessary i will germ a new one and replace the one that needs it.

I will post pictures of the others but the new RIU wasnt letting me post pictures last time :( so i have to upload those first then take more of the new growth.

Im not going to give up, ill figure out what if anything im doing wrong and correct it.

and so far NO GNATS. fucking happy they are finally gone.. No more scotts / MG dirt as those nats really were getting me DOWN. (main reason why i was ok pruning and killing the bag seeds)

So i just took these pictures below about 2 mins ago.

Let's hope my gf's haggling me to NOT kill the blue mystic that has been damaged will be worth it ( i really would like to at least have a sample of what the plant can possibly produce.) Also my back up seeds from NIRVANA arrived in less than a week (EPIC)

I havent decided if i want to truly replace the one seed that's in dirt and not doing anything or if i just want to stick with what i have since i know they're more then likely all females and if i dont fuck it up with nutes i should have a pretty decent start..

Pics below!

Let me know what i can do better. & @Bilbo Baggins im gonna do what you said. we have so many things like dull tooth pics we can poke hold in the dirt as necessary, however i think i might be ok with this new dirt.

New dirt seems to embrace the "you get what you paid for" motto as this dirt cost double of most bagged dirt in any of our stores.

Dude at the hydroponics store was pretty cool and earned himself a repeat customer.

So i am going to try to post pictures soon. The new grow is going well. Not many bugs, Everythings fine as usual in the beginning. I use this time to reflect on what i did to my previous plants and the effects / result.

I cut a leave off of a plant, it stunted the high growth alot.

I used a little DIA- Earth they were fine but showed bad signs.

I used MORE Dia earth and it SUPPOSEDLY changed the PH of my dirt causing some sort of lock out & other nute issues with my plants.

The blue mystic affected by the issue is still alive, fighting, flowering, and trying to live its full life span. It was seeded about 3/6/14

It is about 20 inches tall? almost two feet and almost touching the bottom part of the HPS light.

I suggest getting rid of any future bugs with neem oil. Dia-Earth is not a good thing for these if u use it in a large dose to kill an infection.

The fact that the water i used after Dia-earth was applied had a tad of super thrive and a fert booster / B-52 sup.

I tried flushing the pot, however the pot is kinda big so i will chalk this as a learning experience and use bucket instead of floor model pots as they would fit better size wise, allow easier repotting, and much easier time adding drainage holes if necessary.

Lastly, since Noob#5 died in its smart pot (still learning how to use this pot with this dirt as its super dry, cracks easily and that may kill roots, thus i need to pot this plant and then leave it alone for long periods of time only bothering it to water it.

It's an unknown "bag" seed i guess.. Well actually its a random "freebie" from nirvana come to think of it so i guess it could be a potential kick ass said, so should it sprout i will name it potent. LOL :)

Also my little microscopes arrived, they may have a little for determining sex and maybe helping to know when to harvest.

Since only the random seed is unknown, it will remain under 24 or 20 hr light Untill it has half the height that i want it, then i will put it in flower mode and remove it to somewhere dark as deemed necessary.

total is 5 auto's 1 Unknown (photo)

and finally still experimenting with ways to get this apt to cool down as well as the grow area. if we had House windows it would be easy as i have a single room AC unit. I will continue trying to tweak my ideas till one works.

I have a solid idea of just purchasing a Heavy duty extension cord (orange and black) and just running the ac in here to help cool the room and grow area.

Hopefully in the fall we will find a better place to live Pictures later as i have no HW or CW today :)
