It looks like the Nimbin MardiGrass over here in Oz is going to get hit hard by the cops this year.
The MardiGrass has been running for years and hasn't really had that much trouble from the law. However, this year it looks like it's going to be a bad one. On April 1st, the Nimbin Hemp Embassy, Bar and Museum got raided. 50 cops rolled into town and basically did a stormtrooper on the place. In the past week, there have been numerous busts around the area, notably one near Nimbin where 130 plants and 30 kilo of bud were found. There was also another one where 40 plants and 10 kilos were found.
Now the cops have had a court order granted to close the HEMP Embassy, Bar and museum until Monday. The MardiGrass starts on Saturday and ends on Sunday. Oh, the term HEMP in this context stands for Help End Marijuana Prohibition.
