Newbie's first grow....pics

hi everyone, im new here and working on my second grow ever. i tried a few years ago but didnt have the money or motivation to do it right.

as of right now im on like week 3 or 4 and have already germinated my seeds{all good bagseed} i started with ten
two didnt germ, two were developing very slowly. i planted them in party cups and then about a week ago i transplanted by cutting the bottoms off the cups {gently} and down the side, then i put the cup in the bigger pot and slid the cup out. it seemed to work well and not disturb the root ball. the third i lost to shock. needless to say im down to five...unless some of you guys are REALLY stoned and cant do basic math.

My setup consists of:

24inx20inx60in cabinet

3 100 watt cfls 6700for veg and im planning on adding those splitters and another bulb to each ballast and then 2700 for flower

3 grow tubes 2 are like 20 in and one like 24{no clue on watts or lumens ...really just supplemental light

im using technoflora recipe for success starter kit that i got a pretty good deal on at my local grow shop

i have intake and exhaust fans which are just $4 4in fans from target and a third inside to circulate

everything seems to be looking good so far, they seem pretty healthy. i am using the nutrients as the directions say and used a blend for after transplant and then one veg blend. it says to do feed water water so im now on the first water.

Any expert opinions always appreciated, i will update you guys soon on my progress

Happy Toking

lookin good! sorry to hear about the one that didnt transplant well. it seems like you went to a lot of extra trouble moving them though. when i go from the solo cup to something bigger i just put the stem between my middle and ring finger and hold up side down. they usually slide right out and then directly into their new home!

you might want to try moving the tube lights to the top side of the plants now (over head) or just turn them off, they're not doing too much if anything that far away. your other lights look like they might be able to come down a little more too, you dont want these getting taller then what they already will be.

thanks for your input and i did lower the lights some more...as for the tubes i havnt been runng those except for the pics but do you think once my babies are taller, that those would be sufficient for side lighting?

yea they would work great for side lighting, i would get a few more so you could have like two on the three sides and then one in the middle of the opening there. its a ways away though so no rush.

well i went to check on the babies this morning and noticed it looks like 2 are already starting to show pre flowers, is it me or does this seem to be pretty early on as its only been like 3 weeks so far. or could this just be more foliage?

not sure and wondering if they are how long should i wait to start flowering

ill upload some pics as soon as the growths are big enough for the camera to focus in on

i would doubt that they're pre-flowers, just more of the plants growing probably. as far as taking the picture, if you have an actual camera that is somewhat new you should have enough MP so take the picture from farther away and you should be able to get it all in focus, then you can just crop it so it zooms in on the growth, and voila! you have a nice close up picture!

Those tubes at Wally world have interested me too, i'll probably be buying some when mine get a little bigger.

hey ive been seein alot of ppl sayin that for smaller cfl grows they r doin 12/12 from seed...when should i switch 2 12/12?

you can really switch over anytime you want to, however if you have the time then let them grow! it will knock down your harvest size dramatically, and the plants still actually have to grow to a certain stage before they can flower. in my opinion and the opinion of many, but switch to 12/12 yet! as far as your plants are lookin, how close are your lights to the plants, they look a little stretched.

ok well my babies seem to be doing pretty good. aside from a little nute burn i dont see any physical problems,. i have a few fungus gnats that ive killed and im prolly gonna get one of those electronic pest things on friday, if that dont work im thinkin gnognats from the grow shop. i started 12/12 3 days ago as theyd been vegging for about a month. may have been a bit soon, but i dont want them to get to big b/c i cant fit any bigger pots in my cab and i wont be able to transplant them. im still using the 6700k b/c i only have 3 2700 right now and on friday im gonna get 3 more 26 watters and 3 of the 46 or 150 equiv and a few more splitters so ill be running 9 lights on five plants until they show sex and then im hopin that will be enough along w/ my grow tubes.

also yesterday i got 2 grams of some nice kali buds im not sure of the strain but i got 2 seeds so far out of it. beautiful stuff it is. im thinkin once the ones i have are done ima clone the best of them and start these 2 seeds so theyre around the same size when i put them into pots. unless i decide to do hydro any input on what type of system is the best for a beginner??

i will try to put some pix up later as my bro takes his camera everywhere with him and i gotta use it when hes not around

so its official three of my plants are female, been flowering for about 2 weeks now all seems ok, need to add some more lights on friday to get to the lower parts of the plant, but other than a little nute burn and a few burn spots from them touching the lights the look healthy. also my fungus gnats are gone, bought 1 of those sonic pest repellers and within a few hours they were drastically reduced, and now i havent seen one in a week. WOO HOO!! good riddance u little fuckers

also some pics as of 11/11

Comments Please!!!

Looking nice man. Great work. I had those fungus gnats to. I didnt need anything to get rid of them. I just let the top of my soil dry out for about 3-4 days, and made sure no leaf debris was sitting on top of the soil. Once I got rid of that, and started watering again, they never came back.
