newbie looking for ideas for flowering chamber

I've got some seeds started 18/6 under cfl's while I figure out what I'm going to build for a flowering chamber. Height is my biggest problem, I only have about 4' to work with. I'm thinking about a 2'x4' box, and I'm wondering if I can get a pair of 150w hps in there without burning down my house. I'm wondering if 2 or 3 35cfm exhaust fans would be enough to cool it down. I have room to make the box wider if I need to.

Would a single 250w be better/cooler than 2 150's? Right now ambient temps are between 40-75F. My goal is to eventually yield about an lb a year. Is that at all realistic with this setup? Thanks in advance for any help.

I think I'll start with a single 150w econolight right now. I want to see what kind of heat it puts out before I think about anything bigger. I think 2 small exhaust fans will probably be ok during the winter, but I may have to move outside or go with next summer. Any advice or comment would be appreciated.

hps will help it to get density to the nugs specially if you get a globe more to the red spectrum... id get a hps and if you could get the environment cool enough and a spot to fut it chuch a blue spectrum cfl inthere that fits.... this will help the yield if done properly... but like you said its a space thing and heat... id try figure out a way

as for height if you tip or fim u should be able to manage something decent theres a few grows on RIU that have limited space and what not that are awsome...
this will alo give you more than 1 crown.. too and maximises the space by making it fill out and not grow up like it was :) a plant will up to double or trebble in size once flowering starts..

ive seen some good smaller grows on riu no shit.... i personally like big plants its just ma prefferance i like to look at them it relaxes me.

ive been told the differance beetween SCrog and SOG yield when done constantly but we only fucked with that for a little while where i come from its basically viable to start in the hydro kit and finish outdoors nearly all year round.... which is another ball game altogether :). results are abetter yielding pant (you can generally grow them wy bigger) that combines the good qualities of both... i come from oz this technique is completely viable for us and many others even though people on this forum ar skeptickz.... i know it works... like i said it was our favourite way to grow before we got busted.....

we think a helicopter must have picked up on a hot room and went from there... or we got dobbed in couldnt really tell ya both are VIABLE answers :(

also another thing you gotta think about isthe differances in heat and light... ive seen a few people use a HPS light that was t strong for there plant after leaving the fluros... disastrous outcomes at times.... so yeah u may be able to get the 250 w if you can keeptemps down and have a look at it and see if you reckon it will suit the pourpose....

i hope this answered at least some of your questions :)

also if you want a bigger yield is there any chance you could make it bigger or even wider then fimming or tipping would be a viable option possibly???...

This the light i plan getting for my PRIVATE;-) grow http://www.htgsupply.com/growlights.asp?categoryID=1&subcategoryID=155&typeID=84

That seems like an awsome price to me!!! but I LIVE IN THE SOUTH AND SUMMERS CAN EASILY GET 90-100!!! Not to mention i have the hottest room in my house, but one of these also may be of assistance, http://www.hvacquick.com/scfnconfig.php?fm=DB&PHPSESSID=j9ahd2c2ndrt1unspgn6fdojm6

I was thinkin that the 140 CFM would be more than enough for my closet 4FT L/ 3FT W/ 8 FT H

Thanks for all the advice guys. I ended up with a roughly 3'Lx2.5'Wx3.5'H box. I have a 150w econolight and 12x26w 2700k cfls in this box. My more mature plants get closest to the hps, and the youngsters get close to the cfls. I had lots of trouble with temps at first, but I've pretty much got the straightened out.

I had my first harvest a couple weeks ago. It was only one plant, and a small one at that. I had started flowering 5 plants at once, but ended up with 4 males. The one female was really just a seedling when I started flowering her, but she still yielded 10g dry.

From the looks of it, my next few plants should yield somewhere around an oz each. :weed: I have a seperate veg chamber, so I have a little perpetual harvest going.

I just want to add that when I finally got the ok from my wife to start growing, I was all set to run out to walmart to get one of those 24" plant lights. :wall: I thought maybe I ought to do a little research first, so I spent a little time with google and stumbled across riu. Because of that I am now smoking MY OWN organically grown buds. I just want to give a big  to everyone who takes the time to help out the newbies. Thank you riu!

This concludes my grow biography, sorry if I bored you.

yeah no probs...

if you ever face that sitcho again take a cutting during veg let it go to flower and youll determin the sex... in the time you waited the plant will have new growth and itl be ready the bonus being if theyre really nice plants and you only get 1 girl u could clone it and have good sensamila bud.... a few more weeks veg you can flower the mum and get the female bud from the mother (same if not better yield cos you would know you can make it more bushy knowing only one plants going in) then you could take a cutting off each the plants you have in veg once theyre big enough and flower the plants you took the clones from (maybe veg them a bit longer if you want)

to get all female bud and a cycle you can repeat....

or just do again sometime with some different weed if you want a change...

or clone a plant you know is female from several strains... so theres always something different to smoke....

i dunno sorry for dribbling shit lol

Yeah, I've been practicing cloning on my bagseed grow in anticipation of getting some quality genetics from seedboutique. To this point everything has been from seed.

My luck has changed a little though. My last 6 plants I've flowered have all been female. And the clone I took two weeks ago seems to be rooting. So I should be all set whenever my gh church fem seeds arrive.

Anyway, thanks for all the advice.
