newbie here. Got some questions

More of a question about your thoughts behind hydro and Aeroponics. I'm looking for the most water and cost-effective way to grow Indoors with hydro. Dwc doesn't seem to fit that boat. Aeroponics from what I've heard is your best bet.

I don't understand your question. All hydro and aero use same nutes. Only thing is a traditional DWC doesn't require water pumps and as far as I know every other method does. So as far as cheapest start up...dwc. as far as electric all the same minus water pumps so again dwc.

I've been hearing Aeroponics supports tge best root growth despite nutes
I dont think members are understanding exactly what it is your asking , maybe if you outlined your goals a little better we could give some answers .

  • What is the most effective system for growth?
  • What is the most cost effective system?
  • What is your favorite system and why?
I've heard Aeroponics is best for root growth as it always has the nutes present and has plenty of air present at all times.

I'm going to take a loose interpretation of "most effective" As a general rule "most effective" goes soil>soiless(coco, etc)>passive hydro( hempy's,etc,>active hydro. Each of those categories can be broken down into different styles that may be better in that category. As an example,In active hydro, from least to "most effective" would go something like top drip>ebb&flow>dwc>nft>aero, although people will argue about that order.

Most cost effective would depend alot on the size of the grow, 1 or 2 plants a dwc would probably be more cost effective, but to do 30+ plants in a SOG, ebb and flow, nft or top drip would be more cost effective. I would have to say aero is the most expensive to get into, especially if you go true high pressure aero, rather than the low pressure aero/nft hybrid most run, which is still more expensive than the other systems.

Can't really say what I prefer as I'm just getting started.

  • What is the most effective system for growth? DWC
  • What is the most cost effective system? DWC
  • What is your favorite system and why? .........well I suppose ebb and flow table, but to get high yields you need higher plant count, which I stay away from

Scientists at Nasa labs I'm sure can get more growth from a liter of water with high pressure aero. This doesn't relate very much to what you want to do.

If your water and nutrients don't cost you pennys, your doing something wrong. I suppose if you live in a dry and or elevated location where water is pumped long distances you have higher water costs, but still.

That's the big IF? If u know what your doin? I was gonna buy an undercurrent system after this coco run, but after seeing the growth rate! I am stickin with coco. With 5 gallon fabric pots on saucers. I run nute solution through em 5-7 times aday. The only knock I have against DWC is if you have a problem in the system? all will suffer!
