Newbie Growers First try

thanks alot Ill search for a store in my area which I doubt ill find lol. and what is this foiler your talking about? is it the thing that goes around the stem of the plant to reflect the light back on it??

oh and My grow cabbie is 36x26x18 and I will be using 2x 125W cfl's
only one for vegging thou.

you arent gonna use an HPS or even an mh for flowering? i would suggest an hps hand down. entire CFL grows never yeild a good amount vs other lights plus it make take longer overall to finish. CFL donts gie out a strong full spectrum of light vs a HPS or even MH light. Those lights look good for vegging but thats about it.

A folier refers to a nute that u mix with water and put into a spray bottle and spray ur plants with it to give a boost of nutes. so basically nutes in a spray bottle

I doubt I have the proper vent for an hps and if I do it would only be maybe a 100-150 W hps.

oh and here is where my air will be exhausted maybe I can even make this into a carbon filter? for now thou it will be just an exhaust area.

I will get some mylar for sure and maybe another 125W cfl now that your suggesting a hps. I mean if I do get one would I be able to have the bulb incased in glass and attached to a 4" duct and have the heat just exhausted right out? because that would be perfect..

once u walk into that store ur gonna shit urself. if its anything like the hydro store near me then im pretty sure u will lol. just a few questions about ur grow box... how tall is it bc idk if im high or what but it seems to not be tall enough figure the plants will be atleast 2-3ft. but you know what ur doing when coming to a simple set up. i can picture u having a very nicly set up grow room in the future. dude talk to your people at the hydro store. when your talking about u plants dont be nervous bc that store is there for pot growers more then anything, they just can advertise for it so when refering to your plants refer to them as your "babies" and you can ask them anyyy question you want. the guys at my hydro store helped me out alot when i qst started and now hes a good friend. love ow pot brings people together . what seeds are u gonna be sprouting? bag seed? dank?

well heres the thing it might seem like the cab is not to tall but it just might be lol.
the "light holder is the main thing taking up the room but I can move it higher and lower because its on chains. If it is possible to set up a 150W hps like I said earlier then I will get rid of the "light holder" and just replace it with that. anyways I was also thinking of having a scrog set up Like ive read about in the past because I know a hole plant will not fit but with a scrog it will.. or at least Im telling myself that lol. and for my first grow I will try bagseed but I have some ak48 and other seeds waiting, I just have to make sure I can actually grow a plant you know?

a scrog or sog refers to a bunch of smaller plants in a small area with no bottom leaves or branches bc in this type of method the lower branches dont get what they need to prduce good buds so the energy is absorbed by the top leaves and buds not so much a shorter plant but just not as bushy well i guess it could be considered shorter i have a sea and i produce about 2.3 oz on avg a plant in a a sog at about 3-3' 6" per plant soo figure that. how many plants u want to grow? 1?

Well thats 10" light and hood
even witha really good air cooled hood, you are going to need anouther 8" gap between the platns and the bulb
your pots are going to be around 10"
So that 8" for plant to grow into.

Umm sorry.

Okay I suggest you use CFLs with the hood that way you won't need any gap. that gives you 16" that should be enough for a scrog.

You might want to consider growing with clones, taht will make it easyer to control hight.

By the way, I brought one of those lights.
6500k Brillant light, I got it for my mother plant. Buyt I am thinking of getting a anouther 2400k one for a the corner of my flowering room.
They also make a 200W version. maybe two of those should be plenty of light for a small space like that.. Jsut make sure you have lots of vents and fans.

A scrog is differnt to a sog.

In a scrog you may only have one or two plants.
You place a mesh (Usaly around 1" or 2) around 8" inches above the pot, as the plant grows you train the branches into the mesh.

This works really well for small spaces and you can do this with plants grown from seed. Search for info on this style of growing, there will be lots of guides and tutorilas i'm sure. also check out the grow jernals.

Agreed with mr green about the cfl but only if u are limited to that grow space.

im not sure how many plants I want to grow if I use the scrog method maybe 3 or so but if not then most likely just one.

its its ur 1st grow i would suggest just growing 1 plant and see how it goes then your next grow try a scrog

yea I think Ill try that, but im still thinking about if I should get a bigger cabinet. bigger as in taller lol..

oh and Im going to the hydroponics store and I need to figure out what to get. Im definatly buying mylar If they sell nutes Im going to browse and maybe get some but Im still lost as which ones to get. from what you've told me I need something like 15-0-0 or 15-0-1 for seedling to a few days before I switch to flower and for flowering I need something with less nitrogen. and now Im not sure about this because I found this Discount Hydroponics - Advance and it shows that theres a stage A and B bottle for both grow and flower... am I suppose to get one of each or all 4?? i dont understand but for flashing you said I could get something Like this? so yea basically thats about all I need to know because If I go there might as well get some things I need right lol.

and If I do decide to get that bigger cabinet I can always buy a 200W hps and use that for flowering and my 125Cfl for seed...

Hit the nail right on the head with the supernautral nutes. Ok so what you want to get it
1 - Dutch masters b1 foiler
1 - SuperNatural 'GroAqua'
1 - SuperNautral 'Bud Blaster'
if you choose you can get a thing of 'Bloom Aqua' but you really dont need it. I use the bud blaster throughout the entire flower stage.

If u are able to get a bigger cainet then i was say go for it and go with the 200 watter u will be much happier with you final product MUCH MUCH HAPPIER!

also about the 200W hps I would have to set it up like the cabinets that I see on here with the bulb incased in glass and duct work installed on both sides of the glass for air flow and set up an inline or squirrel cage to it... well ill look around for a decent size grow cabie.

When you go to your hydro store im sure they will have it. almost 100% sure they should have it

well Im back from the hydro store and man did the guy turn me off from trying aeroponics lol hes like Oh just go soil its much easier and you will be much more happy with the results etc.. I still want to go aero. and I saw the sun huts that they have and Ive been thinking maybe I can get one its 3'x3'x6' and I can have a nice set up with a 250-400W hps. I dont know I would really perfer to stick with my cabbie now or the one from my previous grow which is 5'x 16"x 30" I can get away with growing in that cant I?
and yea they have a bunch of shit but needs to be ordered lol. they can get the nutes and anything else I might want.
oh and by the way my whole time there I saw about 7 people that came in and ALL of them were teens talking about bud I found it funny

sigh... well I have a good idea but It would involve soil not aero I really wanted to try an aeroponics set up. I think Im going to use the current cabbie in a different room as the vegging box with a 125W cfl and that cabinet thats 30"x16"x60" as the flower for clones with my 125W hps (maybe something a bit bigger but for now 125) and I think Im set on doing that. I really thank you, you have been a huge help and dont worry I will take what Ive learned along with me for future grows
