New to organics.

As I said the CFL isn't in use yet, I'm using http://www.mars-hydro.com/reflector-led-grow-light-144-3w-100.html for now and when my second set of plants is done I will put the 200w CFL in with the main batch. The CFL is the one on the far left in this pic https://www.webhydroponics.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/125-watt-3.jpg

I am going with chemicals, I made that decision a while ago. I will experiment with organics later on but for now chemical nutes are the easy route.

I am thankful for whatever advice is given but I've gotten advice from many sources and obviously it's impossible to follow several pieces of conflicting advice so in many cases I just do what I want(after factoring in all advice given) and see what I end up with.
You will be fine. Just keep you're area extremly clean and bug free and dont feed too much especially not the recomended doses.

Mars led's will do the job. But theres far better options that will out perform Mars with less watts.
And a higher price tag I imagine. Kinda the thing, ya get what ya pay for. Frankly my 600w HPS will outdo all the lights I plan to use I'm sure but the grow area won't handle it, the temp shoots up by 25 degrees.

Thats crazy. My 1000w air cooled hps is only 10f hotter then my 400watt veg cab!

Keywords being "air cooled" I'm guessing that you're running a closed hood. I was running it with a bat wing reflector. It would be ideal to run an hps without a closed hood because I've heard that you lose about 10% light efficiency with a closed hood vs. an open one. I suppose I may need to buy a closed hood in order to run my 600w hps without it overheating, or my closet overheats faster than a 4X4X6 foot(average size) tent.

Yes, depending on hood efficiency/size and bulb output it can be UP TO 10% with crappy hoods, but dont be fooled because you can cram more lumens per square FT with air cooled hoods vs open hoods. Regardless, i recomend an air cooled hood for anyone not growing in a dialed room.

its actually the opposite. The glass cuts off about 10% of spectral output. If cooled too much to below operating temp spectral output can decline. If you have a bulb that puts out UV. When UV hits glass it converts to infrared.

lumens is more for efficacy of design and for humans not plants. Lumens is irrelevant to growing. Plant lighting is measured in par (µmple/s), cri.

open vertical reflectors perform the best for hid

Just keeping it simple for him. he only loses up to 10% of total lumens to his eyes or 10% par. When he vegges and uses a CMH/MH then he may worry about the UV loss along with par/lumen loss. the UV wavelength count is bearly existant if even with his HPS. More light is simply more light in his case.

Well, regardless I can't afford a closed hood right now, btw what exactly is a "dialled room"?

That's not very specific. Are you talking about one of those big grow rooms in which the entire room is used to grow rather than having a grow space like a closet or tent?
Dialed... Meaning perfect. And yes it makes a huge difference if your grow room is not optimal. It may take some time getting every thing dialed in like lights and c02 ect. Get it?

I have heard that you can run higher temps with c02. Side note I just watched human centipede 3.. Ya'd think I'd learn after the second one but nooo I had to go watch the third and it was actually worse than the second...

Yes you can, its not a myth. Many people here do it.

https://www.rollitup.org/t/c02-calculator-calculate-how-long-to-run-your-co2-tank.28289/ a calculator incase you consider it. I recommend scouring some c02 how to's and the advanced MJ cultivation section. As for the movie, cool bro :joint:

If you have a 600 watt HPS..... you would be better off selling your mars LED and buying a cheap home depot bathroom exhaust and some dryer vent tubing... that and a small 15 dollar fan at the other end and you have all the ventilation you need. You WILL be able to get a 1/2 or more with that light. You WILL be in shock and awe at how well HPS flowers compared to everything else. I had a 2x4 storage cab grow with only 150watt HPS and a 4 foot T12 shoplight.. i got 8oz of four small plants using scrog. (sound like a fish story but it happened and worked for three grows till i stopped for a while) I have not seen anything anywhere that proves to me that LEDs are better than HID lights for penetration and dense buds. In my experience, CFLs suck. I currently have five seedlings under 55watt CFL and a small T5 28watt strip..... I am stunned that they pull away from the CFL and are stretching toward the little T5. the CFL is too hot and my plants and I decided we dont like it at all. If you are using flouros, T5 (at 99 lumens per watt) is the absolute best bang for your buck... however, they are relatively expensive (sitll cheaper than LEDs).... T8s work and get about 90lums per watt but you can not beat T5s and HPS (what i'm using now for flowering). You can pick up a 4 light T8 shop light at Walmart for 12 bucks.

There are a lot of options but trust some of the people here to help you out... you CAN grow with what you have, you'll just have airy buds that dont fill in much past the top few inches. Not a disaster, and still awesome because you did it yourself, but you can do better with that space without spending ridiculous amounts of money. Good luck!

I am currently using ducting that runs outside and a centrifugal fan as well as an average sized oscillating fan and I still can't run the HPS without it way overheating the room; there's no way a cheap bathroom exhaust and 15$ fan would be enough.

That's been the topic of discussion yes. I mentioned above that I only have a bat wing reflector. In retrospect I perhaps should not have gotten the mars hydro led and got a closed reflector instead but too late for that. now I'll make use of what I've got and do better on the next grow.

Yeah without a closed air reflector its going to be hard to cool without an ac unit, you might just want to use the LED for now and vent as best as you can.
