ok so im kind of bored with my mj growing...feels like i have it down to a plug and go type deal...

so i want to experiement with growing some fruit or veggies...maybe some hot peppers.

im on the west coast (if that helps/matters). summers can get up to 105 about...and winters get low as mid 20s around november. humidty in the summer is non-existant for the most part...winter the humidty is around 60 or so percent usually. rainy in the winter but no snow.

Im interested in something that i can maybe grow in a 5 gal bucket or something...to test the waters like one of those super dwarf whatever plants i been reading up on...

as i said i have little experience gardening anything other than mj.

so i know some things but need a good starting point to figure out what i should try first and how easy/hard it is to grow...and what type of care it needs, etc.

any suggestions for a beginner? looking for (ideally) a fruit or a hot pepper....maybe tomatoes. idk.

Tomatoes and peppers are easy to grow but i think tomatoes are easier. Just keep moist but do not overwater. 5 gal bucket will do for some toms and almost all peppers. Bigger pot size the better though.

If you can grow MJ you'll be fine. I started the other way around-- an avid gardener who's grown everything, but hadn't grown MJ. Veggies are always fun to grow and you get some yield back from it too. Herbs like rosemary, oregano and thyme are easy to grow, can handle the heat, and are great to cook with. Exotics and tropicals can be a bit particular so maybe don't start with those.

You can also check out: http://davesgarden.com The cumulative knowledge of the people on that site is incredible. Good luck and happy growing.

Why not try a citrus. Lime, lemon. Is this to be located near an entryway or deck? Reason being I think 5gal wil not be enough room in a few years. I love your Monterey Cypress. You can grow one in a pot and root prune to keep it small like Bonsai.
