New to DWC I have a question. PPM related + pic of grow

Hey thanks for taking your time to help. I normally grow in soil and just wanted to give DWC a shot. My question is... My PPM out of the tap is 045ppm, what should it be after adding nutes? I am using Jacks classic 20-20-20 since I have it left over from soil grows.

soil nutes dont work correctly in hydro. In a soil setup your ph you want around 6.5 for maximum nute uptake, but in higher there is a lower goal to shoot for, 5.6-5.8. nothing higher than 400 ppm for those little girls if you insist on giving them the soil nutes. hope it helps ^_^

yeah thanks all info is appreciated. I am only using Jacks because I have it on hand, I do dissolve the nutes in warm water before adding them to res.

If you can you should grab yourself some soluble nutes. Then follow the instructions for seedlings. sounds overly simple but the nutrient company's have done a good job at making a balanced mix

Just buy some hydro nutrients, why risk your time, plants and money. If you have a lot of all three then go ahead and negro rig some DWC!

Echonc: They're all giving you good advice but it doesn't sound like you're listening. The fact that what you have on hand isn't appropriate isn't a good enough excuse for you using the wrong nutes in a hydro grow. Everything else will be off too. For thirty bucks you can get a Technaflora, "Recipe for Success," sample/starter kit and then at least your plants will have a fighting chance. RTFB. I hope that helps. HSA

I mean I don't want to waste 3+ months to find out my nutes were wrong, didn't give enough of something etc.. especially if it is NOT intended for the medium you are using.

Yeah man, buy some hydro nutes. those soil nutes don't have any calcium in them.... Your plants aren't going to survive long. If you looking for something simple to use in hydro, use Supernatural's gro aqua for veg, and them their bloom aqua in flower, they got 8% calcium in them and its a one part. 1tsp per gallon, and your good to go. www.supernaturalbrand.com.
