Thanks guys. I love how even tho some people think man you are dumb son, how are you going to do _______? Then when I say, well mom I'm going to.... She shuts me out lol and you guys listen and offer good advice! I'm also purchasing a 1800 w solar panel, a few batteries and the inverter/converter I need to make it work. To make things a bit easier on me I'm also going to buy 10 3watt led solar powered lights to help maintain regular lighting. How cold does it get? My plan is to get a little shed from Wal-Mart and insulate it, and make an underground greenhouse, hopefully the earth will insulate it well. I'm really concerned that I'm going to head that way and get everything going well and freeze my poor girls to death lol I don't want that!! Anyone local to Costilla county? Maybe while I get myself situated someone can point me in the right direction to a basic trimming job or something? I'm stoked for the 17 of October! Last day in Illinois for me!!

Good luck with the move I grow for a living (don't work 9-5). If you can make it growing where your from you can make it anywhere. Been to Colorado the market is saturated with a lot of bs stuff. Where Im from there dispensary on every block but people only want that tried in true. Just remember genetics gentics gentics will get you the win every time. Prolly 10k worth gentics in my garden. just pop some packs of wifi start from there best of luck

I have a couple really good strains I am working with, and if it turns out my mom did destroy the seeds (she says no but...) I know exactly where and how to get the parent genetics again. I'm hoping I can make a good showing with them, as I am confident in their ability

That's cool I find growing Strains people know good first step. Then dial them in blow there mind then introduce them to the new new. As much as I love some my strains the classics have made me he most money Larry og wifi etc. whatever you grow dial it in though and any weak stock get rid off.

Yeah I think I'm 20-30 miles away, or minutes not sure which one. I take it that's pretty far from most people? lol
My basic grow plan is to purchase some beans from Colorado when I get there, some from attitude or the like (my personal strain project to get the parents again) and then use the seeds I have now, that way I can have a slowly starting rotation of "known in colorado" a "great strain I personally know" and can try to promote, and then a "bunch of randomly growing stuff" just to fill some holes, if all I have is time, why not? Worst that can happen is a plant I'm not to happy with the quality and won't run again. Maybe I'll find an easy growing plant with a decent yield or some other quality that I like

I'm not familiar with the area. If you get from Attitude make sure to get the guarantee. I ordered from them when I first started growing and Customs took a lot of the orders, lol.

Again man best of luck to you. I don't know the area down there like I said but I did read an article that some in Pueblo County want to turn the area into the "Napa Valley of pot." So you might be getting in on the start of something new.

Something to keep in mind, at lest in my area, is that most of the bud is grown indoors in warehouses, increases the quality over outdoor. There are also lots of greenhouses but I don't think they use them in the winter. The only non-personal outdoor grows I know of are industrial hemp grows, which btw, they give good hemp seeds out by the 1000s here, lol.

I have a question for you guys, I'm already sure of what I want but...

My boss, yes that's right the guy who puts his name on my paycheck asked me the other day why I was going to quit. I told him I was licensed and going to grow marihuana in Colorado.
He IMMEDIATELY said let me give you some money, an investment.

Ok I need all the money I can get so...

This guy is a business man. He is loaded. He's a Mexican, and I'm El Salvadorian, so our want to help each other is really deep, if you are white I'm not sure you would begin to understand, I'm not trying to sound racist or bigoted but I know he really wants to help me out. I also know there has got to be something in it for him.

I told him a few hours later (we are working together for a few days) you give me 3000 I'll give you 10000 after a certain time. He said then what you'll drop me?

So basically, to cut down the conversation, my boss wants to give me a few thousand dollars for equipment. I already have a couple sourced out and ill be able to grow plenty and have it well taken care of, so I guess the "Napa valley of weed" could work in my favor.
I'm thinking of a deal where he could continuously get profit in it, and I would continue to get some funding and grow since he is paying just as much as me, and then a couple thousand more, and not being here.
Is this a good thing to do?

2000 watt (4000 max watt) inverter/converter bought and on the way, solar panels for my cell phone (back up battery charger) bought and on the way
Batteries for off grid system... Bought and the wrong damn kind lol... I CAN use them but I need 74 more so I think I will be exchanging them lol. Solar panels... I have them picked out, ready to be bought next week. Should I get them shipped here, or shipped to site when I get the address?? I'm not sure how fragile they are but they seem like eggs... Super fragile!
I'm going to get a prefab house, I found a company that charges about 200 for 1m3, I'm thinking I'll take 2m3. This way I can legally live on the land "inside" the prefab. My actual plan is to put my stuff inside the prefab and dig a 5×5 hole for where I can plant the ladies underground, that way they can still get sunlight, I won't have to supply electric 18 hours, maybe just 4-6 depending, I want a week or two of veg that's it then flower. I'm thinking I will dig two holes for the ladies, one for veg one for flower. I will dig out another spot about the size of my bed. Underground Is much more insulated than the surface, and no one can see it physically from the street. I'm thinking- I can connect the three rooms with a "Y" shaped corridor, which I want to put a fire into to help provide heat. I'm not planning on a raging bonfire daily but just a little something extra. That room will be vented a little so the smoke can go out. Ideas? I don't want to suffocate myself with CO but I don't want to freeze to death lol I think if I get enough venting to let out smoke I can get a little benefits from a fire right there, underground it would heat things up nicely. I'm also planning on a couple very small heaters. The lights I Will be using provide a little heat, I will most likely be doing my mix of cfl and leds, as I can definitely accommodate that energy draw. So am I crazy or what lol?

Got the land, a generator, food. Water. Gas... So what's up with the building code? I read they won't give an address to a vacent lot. But if I have a prefab house, in this instance a barn, put there, the guy delivering needs an address to go to right? I'll be on my way to co in just a few days!! Maybe next spring my efforts will be rewarded with lots of awesome contacts and good people. I will be growing biodiesel x og kush and some sour berry. The rest is up for grabs at this moment in time.

WHAT THE F*** are the laws there???? Ok that was just a little bit of stress being let out but...

I just called the costilla county zoning board. The property I purchased, ON the page that I decided to buy it, said that the land was 1 acre lot zoned for residential, subdivided into 4 lots for RV use. OK that makes sense to me. I can camp there with an RV or put a bigger building on the 1 acre. I was PLANNING on putting a small shed up, storing my stuff there and putting my plants back there. I was bringing my own water, and gas, and my own storage containers for everything.

so back to the phone call...

she said that I have to have a 600 sq foot building. Why? that is too much for me, by about 500 sq feet, especially since I wanted to temporarily store things there.
I also have to put in a septic tank, ok I get this one. I was planning on doing it later to save me some money now...
I can't put a storage building on without a main house.
I can't grow weed there, because they already have 10 applicants.

OK WTF??? that last line really got me... I was told by multiple people that I don't need a license to grow (I do if I want to grow a LOT and distribute, but... again was planning on getting that next year.

I was planning on keeping a really low profile, no one in no one out of the house, I already have people lined up who would buy my very first line of product, so I had that part taken care of, I was planning one crop, low low key and when that came up I could take care of the rest, What can I do now? I am sure that the personal grow supersedes her "licenses that are already sold out" but I don't want to specifically be illegal. My plan was to grow this one crop, get the money and get my property updated, then move somewhere else, or more convenient.

My understanding of your situation is
You can't grow recreational weed there but personal to the limit of that area....unless of course you're close to a school.

It's not zoned for large manufacture of weed is my take so personal yes more than personal wouldn't be legal.

My plan is to start out personal, 6 plants in flower with my equipment (2500 watts of 9 band led) would give me 4 pounds at least, with the right care with nothing extra. I'm 35 miles from a school. So since its just "personal" to start with, I'm thinking I'll be ok to start. I say "personal" because my long term plans are for recreational/ medical grow

Can you have 6 flowering?

From what I've read and been told you can have 6 in veg and 6 in flower and not need a license as that amount is "personal" am I wrong ??

There is no such thing as cheap abundant land that is inhabitable. Unless you want a greenhouse with a shack next to it and no utilities. Then the zoning board will come along and tell you that you cant live in the shack.

Your chances of being able to sell to clients is extremely limited. Just about everyone here already has a connect that grows fire too. Not saying its not possible, just saying it isn't easy. You need to get out and meet people, after your first harvest. Most people aren't going to connect with craigslist sellers. Until you harvest it isn't going to do any good because any potential patients would want to sample your product before signing over their plants. Without anything to sample you are just one of the other 1000 people that has moved here that believes they can make a living growing weed. 99% of them are wrong. If you want to grow weed here and make a living doing it you better bring your A game. What passes as fire back east is closer to mids here in CO. Your competition has been doing this for years and have access to premium genetics. Meanwhile unless you meet someone you will be limited to seeds or dispensary clones.

If you want to put in the work anything is possible, so don't think I'm trying to tell you not to pursue your dream. However, understand that things will not be easy, at all.
Lol. There is absolutely no difference in a grade on the east coast vs west coast.
