New Office Grow Room

Wanted to give another update on what I got going on.

Ended up making an area that is 8' x 12'. However I will only be using a smaller area within this area.

CAM00136.jpg
This photo is of part of the ceiling. There are a few holes I have to patch because I stapled it in the wrong area. But duct tape and mylar tape work well for this.
CAM00137.jpg
This is of the one side wall where the electrical in the far back corner will be installed. There is already a junction box there. Just need to tap into it.
The circuit that this box is on controls all the ceiling lights in the house on the second floor. I have 23 watt cfls in most of the fixtures so I took that into account before deciding to tap into this circuit. Also there is a 250watt MH mounted outside that this circuit is on a as well.

80% of the circuit would be 13 amps. With all the lights if on at the same time would run around 4 amps total. So I have 9 amps to play with here. 600 watt HPS runs what 5 amps. Leaving me with 4 amps to play with for venting and air/w3ater pumps. There is also another circuit up there that can be used if I do exceed the 13 amps.

I have been testing the circuits with a 1500 watt space heater. So far so good. and that is with the other lights in the house on. All cords stay cool to the touch so wiring should be a problem. And no breakers have tripped. I will be installing an emergency switch though before the outlet that will be installed. So if there is a problem while im up there I can cut the power when needed without having to run to the basement.
CAM00140.jpg
This is a picture of the inside front corner. where the 2 faces overlap. Still have to cover all the duct tape with the mylar tape but so far so good. Made sure I got the waterproof tape that shouldn't be affected by humidity.
CAM00141.jpg
This is the side wall that the front connects to. Tightened the poly with a 2 x 4 and screw it to the floor. should have used emm all the way around to tighten all the walls.
CAM00142.jpg
This is the front of the area where the door will be installed. Will be a velcrow door for easy in and easy out. excuse me zipper door with a velcrow overlap to keep the light in.
CAM00145.jpgCAM00146.jpgCAM00147.jpgCAM00148.jpg
These are just random pictures of the walls and ceilings.

CAM00150.jpgCAM00151.jpgCAM00152.jpgCAM00153.jpg
Pictures of the ceiling. Still have to cover all the duct tape with he mylar tape.

CAM00154.jpgCAM00157.jpg
These are pictures of the right and left walls. There are no supports. These are just hung from the ceiling to the floor. Stapled and taped. wall seem pretty sturdy and do not have much movement. Which turned out nicely.

Temps have since gone up up there. I was been testing the circuits with the space heater and also the area to see how the temps will hold.

currently it is about 25 degree outside and almost 50 in this room right now. So I figure I will have to adjust accordingly after the light has been installed. As I will get some of the heat from the lighting system.

Also I still have to install my venting and such. As these are not shown in the pictures. Flanges will be mounted to support the weight rather then trying to rest the vents on the poly as I do not think that will work out so well.

ALSO for the floor. I have extended the floor almost 4' from where it originally was. So that way I can use the peak to hang the HID. as it will give me more head room if needed. almost 8 feet from peak to floor. the lowest part of the area is 5.3 inches. so head room is plentiful where it is needed.

As for containment. I am going to build a 5 x 5 box from 2 x 6's and line the box with pit liner. Which is hat they use to line ponds and such with so water should not be an issue if spilled or if a bucket leaks. I will post pics of this aswell once I get it built.

At the moment I cant think of anything else. I will post more pics as things progress and I get more finished. As I do have my beans and want to get started. few more weeks though. But I will get there.

Let me know what you think.

Looking great!! I wish I had the head room you do. I also wish the area around my room was more than 24 degrees.....

Is that 27 degrees outside of the house or of your room? Your attic is 50 Degrees correct?

My flower room hit 48 degrees two nights in a row after lights out. Today I added a second oil radiator heater to the mix and changed up the venting.

Thanks DP. Still need growers in the area if I don't do it someone else will.

And yes it was in the 20s outside the house. Stays roughly 40-50 in the outside area of the room. I added a the space heater to sorta replicate a light in there. Stayed around 70-75. Last night anyways.

Still have to get the vents and all that but once everything is in place I have to see how the temps fluctuate with outside temps. I would like to heat the outside of the room as it would be easier rock.from temps in the room itself.

Personally I thinks temps are the biggest problem over anything else in a grow room. Nutes and plant problems are easy to me. Just temp.control seems to be the biggest. But once I know how heat with fluctuate I'll know how to adjust the room. But, Havnt gotten there yet.

However I did find a 1000 watt lamp for around 175 but it's a magnetic ballast. But for the price with all accessories. Was thinking about going 1000 instead of the 600 so I can use more of the room.

Not sure yet though. Only growing autos so MH isn't really needed.

What do you guys think. 600 watt Digital with MH/HPS compatibility or magnetic 1000 HPS. More light with the 1000 as well as a larger footprint.

What's you think?

Oh and another thing I was tracing electrical wires the other day and found a single line that runs threw the attic that is. 12 gauge instead of like everything else 14 gauge. So I would have a 20 amp capable line instead of a 15 amp line to play with. Never thought to look at the breaker though and see if it was installed on a 15 or 20 amp breaker. But this would allow to safely use the 1000 watt without issue. I was going to use this line for everything needed power wise up there. It just opens up a bit more power if needed. But I am going to install some new outlets on this line and go from there.

But so everyone know it runs directly from the breaker panel straight to the attic with nothing connected to it along the way. Excelent and easy install to.

A second circuit is always nice! I ran 220 to the room then split it up so I have a total of 80 amps available.

As for your question about the lights.. I chose to go with two 600 watters over a single 1000. I read many threads saying the 600 is more efficient than the 1000. That sounds like a good deal on the 1000 so go for it!

How do you split 220 back into 120? Right below the room is a 220 line that connects to the dryer. I would love to split into that. Give me no worries about drawing to much amperage threw the lines.

Also been looking around the web. Found a few 400 watt systems for around 100 each. hell I should buy 3 400 watters and spread the light around. 3 would give me around what 150,000 lumens total output. Seems like 400 watters run around 50,000 per bulb. Doesnt make sense though really because I would be using 200 extra watts for a mear extra 5k lumens. Only thing that would be worth it I do believe would be to plat with the footprints. but other wise duel 600s would be better if not for the 1000 watt.

A small sub panel is fed from the old 220 electric range breakers. Add breakers to the sub panel for your needs. We upgraded to gas a few years ago in the kitchen and the two 40 amp breakers were just sitting there waiting!

Alright. This may be an alternative to what I have planned if I run into issues. It would allow for a larger amp consumption on my part that is for sure.

Thanks man

A little update.

Got some of the vinyl up around half of the room where the plants will be sitting.

Room lit up once that was up. Still have to go back threw and get rid of all the wrinkles. But went up nice and easy.

Also for this grow I decided to go with the dual 600s. As the area I will be lighting will be 8 plants in a 4x8 area. So each light will be over 4 plants and give me roughly around 178,000 lumens spread a cross the room. Can not wait to get this set up and running.

Like I said be fore auto fems grow, seed, and breed. And there is enough room I may throw in a few extra plants here and there. But the mains will be auto fems.

Just another little update.

For one I picked up a trust worthy partner. Someone who knows I grow and has been a round for a long while. He wants to learn to grow aswell.

So I figured I would end up building my DWC system later and run 6 hempy buckets so he can get the hang of things.

This is what is bought and paid for and on its way.

6 x 3 gallon buckets
50L Perlite
PPM Pen
PH Pen
GH 3 part nutes. grow, bloom, micro
measuring syringes and glass

All i need now are my lights and to finish up a few things in the room and we can get the ball rolling.

Cant wait to start up again been a little while since my last grow.

After the holidays are over I WILL be building the DWC system. Just thought hempy is a good way to learn hydro and also cheaper to build until after the holidays are over.

and as I said before I already have my beans

auto fem KC45s x 5
auto fem NL x 5

plus some random free seeds.

i will list sooner or later the stock i have of seeds. been saving for a while now. hopefully there still viable.

Reminds me of my attick over the office grow.

I'll never forget getting a call that the ceiling was dripping in one of the offices! Be careful and plan well.

Ya I really hope this doesn't happen to me as well. However we are building a containment to try and help stop that from happening. With roughly double the capacity as what the plant pots can hold.

I would hate to receive a call like that. I am guessing you knew right away what it was....

Just to let everyone know. I received all my supplies except my HID. Havnt ordered it yet. Need funds to do so.

But I have received my PH pen, ppm pen, nutes, buckets, perlite, my measuring glass, and my syringes for exact nute measurements.

So as soon as I can get my lights ill be up and running. And with today (Christmas) being over I will have the funds to be able to buy my lights here pretty quickly.

Cant wait to get growing again.

Here is a few more pic. Still have a load of room yet but this will start it off with just 5 plants.

That room will look soooo small once those buckets have about 8 weeks of flower on them!! It'll be a jungle in there!! LOL!!

Good to see some progress..

Its an 8x12 room well 8x11.5 anyways. So 5 plants should have plenty of room. I will be dividing the room though and adding 5 more later on. With dual 600 watters. So there will be 5 plants per light.

And I am only doing Autos from now on. I plant to grow, seed, and breed autos. Plus experiment with crossing stains to see what I can come up with. Have some bad ass bag seed that I have no idea what it is that later on plan on mixing in with the auto gen to see what I get outta of it. Plus a few other strains I will be crossing. But the first few grosws will be for my consumption and then I will play around until I am getting low on my stash.

figured 10 plants divided by 2 would give me roughly a harvest every 5 weeks or so. and maybe in the future I will run 4 set ups so every couple of weeks I can harvest. That is the plan anyways.

and I will still be building the RDWC system once I get my buddy learning.
