Running some auto's this year and was going to put them in paper towels
to germ. Saw someone else on this site say it's better to put them in the
container you are growing in and put plastic wrap over the top till they germ.
Any opinions? Never done auto's. Good luck all this year!!!!
I've never done autos, but I put all my seeds in soil to sprout. I just water them everyday. Paper towel can harm the root.

hey thump,im putting a new garden in.I was hoping to go straight in the ground but it has way too much clay and started filling with water when i dug down 12"-18". im building some planters now, could i make them bottomless, dig down to where water is and take advantage of the free watering by setting my planters below ground? probably wouldnt make sense to line the hole with gravel if i want it to wick? i like to let my plants dry between waterings during flowering,so that is a concern.
plants look great,btw!

awesome brother, thank you. 3x3 boxes are going to hold a lot of dirt, very nice.mine are slightly smaller 3'Hx2'W. i had to drop some decent size spruces,so im cutting planks with my saw to make the planters.(you definitely want a rip chain on your bar if youre doing this lol.)
i agree, another month it will dry up but during rain i think it will be beneficial.ill skip the gravel in the bottom then.we're getting dumped on this weekend, think ill dig a hole tomorrow to see just how wet it is.

well I was looking at the extended forecast for us New Englanders...the next 2 weeks are rain off an on daily with some sunny days...but they say the summer will be cooler an wet..I hope not..it can create lots of pestilence and mold like PM during veg an rot during flower..plus lots of bugs ..if growing outside..buy lots of slug bait now..or copper wire..lol...I grow in raised beds..and I have not put any thing out yet..but been treating the beds with Actinovite to keep any soil disease at bay..as this weather is perfect breeding weather for bad shit...

some of the orchard growers here are already saying the flowers on fruit trees are rotting due to lots of wetness an cooler temps...
