New DIY Cob fixture

I plan on building 2 fixtures of 9 cobs. 5 3000k and 4 3500k will this be sufficient for a from seed to flower.

You will need atleast 1,000W of COBS to light that space for flower.

I dont see how you will achieve that with 9 cobs...I think you will need atleast 18 high powered cobs running @ 55w. What cobs you plan to use?

Basically mimicking the timber fatty vs but runner higher amps

If you ran them at full blast you would probably be producing enough light. But the spread would be bad with only 9 cobs. I still say you will need 18 cobs to light that space minimum.

Ah I misread your original post, you did say you are building 2 x 9 cob fixtures.

That would work perfectly for 50SQFT

I think that is too much LED power for 50SQFT.


I would run those lights @ 50%-75% power for maximum lifespan and efficiency. You can bump the power up if needed. Let us know your par readings!!!
That's the plan have a lot of power but run them softer. I plan on expanding to 10x10 once I get a couple runs under my belt
