so messing with the reservoir was getting very annoying, couldnt fit the top on, water splashed out.... bleh... whipped out the jigsaw and managed to cut it just right the first time. it rests nicely on the little groove halfway up the tub. And I can more easily fit all my stuff down here too. Plants seem to be requiring a res. change every week. Every time ive added back instead of just letting it run down, things go south. Maybe I should just add back fresh water and no nutes at one week, then do a complete water change every 2 weeks and add nutes then.

anyway, i have a few more things id like to work out over the weekend. heres a shot of the updated lower section.

ya, much easier now that i dont have to slide the reservoir around and shit. Ill just pump out what i can into a 5 gal bucket, then use my shop vac to suck up the rest, and wipe it down clean. wont even have to pick up the reservoir.

So we are filling out nicely. Going on a week and a half of stronger nutes and no reservoir change... I added back a couple gallons of fresh tap water, with a little stronger solution the other day, and the PH is now starting to drop below 5.2... Everyone still seems happy but ill be adding a fresh reservoir and going to make the switch to 12/12 asap. Two of the plants have already shown themselves, Ive spotted a few little white pistils on each.

I decided not to top any of them. Ive cut a few limbs that were on the very bottom; either struggling or laying into the medium; nothing i consider a major loss. You can also see my training method. Ive been pulling the 4 outside corner plants (oldest) into each corner of the box. Im not really sure what you call this method, lol, anyway, its allowing more room in the center for the smaller plants, and pushing all the growth to the one side. should give me a little more head room for later too. *i think i inadvertently LSTd that one slightly? i was able to get a lot of angle on a few of them a couple times.

Finalized the exhaust layout too, i removed the 6"-4" reducer, so its now 6" pipe to this nice little 6x10 register adaptor thing. The pipe makes a complete circle, no light is escaping. Going to find some carbon filter sheets to cut to fit under the vent cover. Ive got other ideas if i actually need to put something down in register area. Also added some fancy valving so i can use the pump to drain more easily.

on with the pics.

The box has come together nicely. For the carbon sheets you want the Holmes HAPF60 C Filter and it comes in a 4 pack. I get mine from wal-mart but if you had the time you can order them online for a better price I'm sure. They are $9.95 before tax locally to me.

nice, i dont venture into walmart very often, or ever for that matter. I will make a special trip to walmart for that ... are you using the plain filter sheets for the intake?? or doubling up on the carbon filters for the exhaust?

when i walk in the room it smells like a greenhouse currently, not really a weed smell. cant wait to see what an exhaust filter does. i dont really want to put a filter on the intake but Ive got a piece of screen over it currently to keep larger stuff from getting in.

I have a 4" exhaust fan and passive intake but I do run a 4" Phresh filter for the flower box and no smell at all. The sheets are for my dry box i'm building this weekend.

nothing much new going on, somewhat on cruise control for the time being. and at a perfect time, the day job is busy at the moment. Ive progressed the lights back to 12/12 as of today. Carbon filtering worked for about a day, lol. I just had one sheet covering the exhaust vent, so im going to try layers, and maybe add one right before the fan inside the cab.
Thank god the biggn' in the back is female, pretty sure ive got one other. One drawback i knew i would encounter is removing the males... they are all in the same medium, so ill have to dig them out the best I can, and deal with some dead roots in the medium. I wont have to worry about that in future grows, but im concerned to see how it effects conditions from there on out?? Anyone have input on this?? i have no real plan, other than to let it ride untill / if i have problems. anyway, im pleased with the progress, bout time to raise the lights a little.
temps averging around 78-80* I set PH at 5.8 and it hangs out there for about a week... it took 10-11 days before it started dropping below 5.2, and it dropped fast from there. PPMs drop off at a steady rate. I swear its working like the book says. :joint:

Well they've really shot up the last few days... The plants seem to really like the nute increase... And have been really sucking up the water... I've been adding back 2 gal or so every other day, with a full dose of nutrients... No new signs of flower yet, other than the two mentioned before...

Cut one down, the other largest one was male... Farewell... kinda needed the room. I dug up the main mass, and pulled out a good bit of the hydroton to wash off the best I could... Don't think I damaged the neighboring roots too bad, but theres still plenty of roots floating around there now... :/ anyway, I'll probably run a flush solution in the next couple days after some decomposing... Anyone have input on adding something like hygrozyme??

As dense as the canopy was/is I'm pretty impressed with the light penetration I guess.... Most of the under growth was thriving well... I figure ill be running three plants in the future, and only femenized seed.
So far ive got 3 females in there ...
Pics as usual, The roots climbing into the lava rocks looked pretty cool...

They are looking really good man!
What nutes are you running?
I probably read it here in your thread but... you know, I'm a stoner...

Lol... Using Dyna gro line... Pro tekt, mag-pro, bloom, and grow... That's it, other than pH up and down...
I ran protekt and mag pro at full strength... And bloom/grow at half. At first I was having to use pH down... Once everyone got happy, I've been going full strength with the bloom and having to pH up a little.
I do have some GH floraklean which I've flushed through once or twice.

Figure one more update and round of pics... Hope to be back on cruise for a bit.
Sooo I've got 5 females in here, lol... Got rid of the 2 males... 5 out of 7 survivors, say that's good odds for bag seed...

I flushed with florakln for a bit today, and did a complete reservoir cleaning and fresh fluids.

And man they really stretched out after flipping the lights... Getting a little worried about the head room :???: theres ~16" of space left... at least the plants don't seem to mind being close to the lights, I've had them close to 3" before I moved up... Might should have vegged shorter or kept the lights closer... Here's to the best bongsmilie Hoping the worst of the stretch is over... The one in the back right stayed pretty short, definitely a much different strain from the other 4.

I tied a few branches off to the side to help the light get in there a little better... I might make up a scrog type screen to help sort them out... Maybe that will keep em down a little too??

So I'm officially concerned about head room... LuLz, oops... Been a few years and I under estimated things... Think I'm still OK, the plants don't mind being close to the lights... I just let them hit the bottom of the board.
Spent a few hours tieing things up and sorting things out, which has helped a lot, the lights really getting down thru the canopy... But there isn't much room left to raise the lights, maybe 6"...

I dropped one of my Cree bulbs, another oops.... It probably still works, but I read that the wiring inside isn't isolated?? So you could easily ground things out, esp if the plant leafs touch it... Anyway, looks cool.

Friggin humdidty already on the rise here... Shot up to 80% over the weekend, so I finally picked up a new dehumidifier... Woooo, back down to 50-60 rh.

Pics of the cluster fuck. Lol.
