New Beginnings for Massachussetts and I

i had a TERRIBLE gnat problem. Pulled everyone out of tent, sprayed it down with peroxide and vinigar, then put up yellow sticky traps. little bastards. I ordered mosquito bits on amazon to top dress soil. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Too bad you couldn't have let them dry out a little. I had a horrible gnat problem at the beginning. Skipped a watering, let the top inch dry out, no more gnats. Their eggs are in the soil or the Coco from the manufacturer. Every time I start a new batch I end up with a few.
My mom has it also, real bad. I gave her a cannabis "capsule" that a friend gifted to me and she was relaxed in her chair with no head ringing for hours. thanks AXLE!!!!!
Glad they worked for her. My next batch will probably be a little bit stronger and we'll definitely have a little bit of cinnamon in them. Got to pick up the coconut oil this week.

Yesterday my wife tested my new batch of trim cannabutter in chocolate chip cookies and my VG tincture with Red Hots cinnamon flavoring in it. She says she loves the VG tincture so much better than the Everclear tincture. She is able to hold it under her tongue much longer. The only limit to how long she can hold it is how much drool develops. She says it's delicious.

One cookie and two dropper fulls of tincture and she was wasted all afternoon and evening. No migraines, no tinnitus just a little bit of sleepiness.
GORILLA = GOOD!!!!!!! :wink:
That is definitely my favorite strain this run. Cindy 99 and Misty kush are probably going to be given away or cooked. My new gorilla babies are almost ready to be topped for their first time. This batch I grew all gorilla bomb.

All I ended up using was method-1 pps. It's an organic certified minty smelling death sentence for gnats and mites. ;)

They probably came in with soil. And sip containers stay moist. So this seemed like a low impact way to deal with them.

I took an ounce of Bud and an ounce of trim. Grounded up with a food processor but not too much so it didn't get powdery. Decarbed it in the oven at 230 for an hour. Put it in a one quart mason jar and poured VG (vegetable glycerin) over it until it just covered the weed. Then put it in a warm dark cabinet and every couple of days for the next two months I would turn it over. After that, take it out and strain it with cheesecloth. Ended up with 400 ml of infused VG. Instead of having the bite of the alcohol it is sweet and great for sweetening your coffee. I put 15ml in a 30 ml blue bottle and added 2 ml of cinnamon vg flavoring. My wife is able to hold it under her tongue for a really long time and she says it's delicious.

First I made kief with dry ice and a bubble bag. Then I decarbed the kief. I used 3 grams of decarbed kief, 14 ml of melted coconut oil and two teaspoons of lecithin. Cooked that in a double boiler for 6 hours. Took a pipette and filled the capsules. It made about 20 capsules. The only thing I'm going to make different next time is adding cinnamon since my wife says she burps Keef for the next day.

Thank you for the recipe! It sounds more palatable than vegetable oil, too.

Bad with the good I guess. This round I did everything the same as I did last round, but the ninja fruit seems more finnicky than the bodhi strains I ran last time. Same light, soil, nutes, age at transplant, etc. But these are stressing.

Somehow I managed to burn these by spraying my IPM's during lights on. They were also a little transplant stressed. Still in veg though so I don't think there is any real harm done.

One difference is I used manure pots this time. I figured that if I didn't have to unpot them, there would be less stress. You just put these into the soil and the roots grow right through them. Well, that's the theory..... ;)

Anyway, lattice is filling in nicely and I'm keeping the canopy flat.. Probably another week in veg and I'll flip.

Also just drowned a pack of TGA pennywise for my next run. I'll probably turn the tent into a love shack if I get a strong male. So if anyone wants some testers, I'll have a jar of f2's. It's just pollen chucking, no breeding involved. But seeds are good things to have in a vault.

Yup, the clones I made HATED the transplant while the SSDD was all, "Wooo! More!" If I note then actually liking anything, I'll say something.

For what it's worth, the Jack's 3-2-1 regimen with coco I've been using seems to be good for all the strains I've used it on ... including young clones ... with minor modifications based on what the leaves are telling me (OG Kush seems to like a bit more N than anything I've grown so far).
The only caveat is that I have to watch the ppm of the runoff and flush as needed.

I don't really add nutes. It's all in the soil. I usually just add water to the res with some mamoth-p and every 10 days or so I'll topwater with worm casting tea and some recharge. I'm playing with other amendments like enzymes, but for the most part the feed is simple. If they look like they need a boost in flower I'll give them something, but for the most part it's just soil and a topdress of worm castings to come. I'm going to hold off on the castings (actual castings as opposed to a tea) since they are being drama queens.

Also, these weren't young clones, they were in 1 gallon pots and probably 45++ days from clone. They seemed happy until the last xplant into the super soil.

It may be this is a weak pheno, or maybe I'm just a dumbass who got caught in the margins with a strain I wasn't familiar with. I'm not going to slam the whole strain since all 4 plants are from the same mom and the environment may not be ideal for them. Though other strains seemed t like it. But I'm leaning toward a dumbass grower. ;)

I'm not going entirely back to bottled nutes just yet though. If I do, I'll give jacks a chance.

Jack's aren't bottled .... it's a combo of two dry components (5-12-26 hydroponic and 15-0-0 cal nitrate) and epsom salts. Not sure how it would run in soil since I'm using it in coco. Very inexpensive.

So I decided to make some butter with the magic butter machine, actually turned out really good, clarified the butter first, made about 2lbs of it, stuff is strong!!! Knocking out co workers left and right hahahaha
I really need to do that soon. Only made a tincture with my machine so far. I'm afraid I'll like the butter a little too much.

I've just been wranglin' a pair of hubbabubbasmelloscopes in the closet lately. Thinking about cutting a few buckets (I have too many anyway) down from 4 - 2.5g to try and keep these damn autos a little smaller. <Never thought I'd say that. lol

Day56. Forgot to snap a pic of the other one in the closet while this one was out. :/ . Last time she's coming out too. Not fun moving her through a narrow doorway.
P9050033.JPG

Packed back in the closet. The topped girl in back is watered via that 1 gal Folgers can with a fitting, 1/2" tubing and a drip ring like the ones @Axle4worc uses. That ring saved me so much work.
P9050035.JPG

One of them was topped. You'd never know it without inspecting the stem. Curious to see what she does in the end. She's on her own back there now. :bigjoint:

Between what I still have from the last harvest and what these girls should produce I think my next grow is gonna be an auto fem seed run. Just for funsies. AND I'll hopefully end up with a butt-ton of auto seeds! (wink, wink,, nudge, nudge, say no more)
The question is, do I run 1 or 2 of the same strain or run like 6 different strains and cross 1 to the rest? Probably safer to do 2 of the same and spray the better looking one? I do like surprises though. :wall:

I was going to breed out my pennywise, but I slowly came to the realization that if couldn't verify that the dad had the cbd gene, I might end up with a bunch of seeds without cbd and low thc yield.

So the problem I'll end up with pollen chucking is I'll get a bunch of good with a bunch of meh seeds. I don't have the plant count to phenohunt and keep moms around, so I'll just keep popping the good stuff direct from breeders.

Maybe I'll do it some day, just for the vault. But no need to at the moment.

Yeah, I don't have the time, space or patience required to breed, else I'd be running photos for sure. I'm just growing some herb here. I'm far from a top notch grower and not terribly picky about my herb. Still, to say that I've been less than impressed with some of the seed packs I've purchased would be an understatement.

I figure the odds of my auto fem seed venture producing genetic screwballs, males and non flowering plants aren't much higher than a random seed purchase. If I get say 1 decent plant out of 10 seeds, I'm doing pretty darn good for the time/money invested. I fully expect much better results than that and more beans than I know what to do with.

After a short discussion this morning the plan is to start 2 autos of an undetermined strain (the better plant will get sprayed) and start 2 more of that strain and 2 of a different strain about 2 weeks later. Thinking the pollen producing female should start dropping pollen just before or when the others start to flower. Seem legit? I'm not looking for bud so I figure the sooner they start producing seed the better.

Worst case for me is the spray doesn't work and I have to harvest a bunch of small plants. :bigjoint:

I'm surprised you don't take clones, keep your best strains and just run those?

Same reasons I went in auto's to begin with unfortunately.

Only having the closet to grow in is the biggest reason. If I had room for a veg tent, I'd be all over it. I was offered clones to get started but turned them down for this reason.

I have a decent stash of photo seeds that I ordered before I discovered auto's so I'm prepared for such when I have more space. lol.

With auto's I don't have to wait for 1 grow to finish before I start the next. Auto's may not be the best of the best but I've been content burning mine since April. :bigjoint:

If I have to sprout seeds I may as well make 'em! I figure odds are good that I'd grow about the same quality herb whether I made the seeds or paid for them.

Looks like my ninja fruit drama queens are turning the corner. They still seem a little N hungry, but I don't want to flood them with N, so I'm slowly introducing some. They also don't like a lot of light; I've had to dial back the power by 75 watts over what i would normally be running. One other thing they seem to like is a warmer, more humid environment.

But I have the trellis fully grown in, and they just flipped to flower. So if they don't go completely bitchy on me in the next week or two, I think they will make it. I'll lollipop and take a few leaves in a week or two, but for now they can grow into their shoes.

^^ Ha-ha the irony. I was moving my lights daily trying to find the sweet spot and finally just turned one off. Dropping 55w. I guess they're happier now since they're praying to the lights. Which is actually why I just came to this thread. See the following.

Someone posted in a new guys thread that, "praying leaves means the plant isn't getting enough light". I've always been lead to believe it's a good thing to see. What say you? This guy is usually pretty spot on with advice other than saying treating coco as soil is better. I know that's opinion but he's still wrong, Damnit! lol

I don't know if there's a name for it so I've never seen any "science" to prove anything about it. All I'm going by as my own evidence are every time lapse video I've ever seen of these girls growing. They wiggle and dance a lot, just extremely slowly. They stretch and relax. This make me think this is just natural growth movement of a healthy plant. Then again, I've had not so healthy plants do it as well?

I've seen mention of "they do this shortly after lights on" but anyone who's run a 24 hour light cycle knows that's a joke.
