just cause I am learninin why do i need 6500k i mean ppl grow from germ straight to flower..
6500k is better for vegging a plant, 2700k is better for flowering a plant

Also the people who grow from germ to flower as you put it generally have dual spectrum bulbs or swap bulbs when moving from veg to flower

i had horrible luck with soil lol... it took me a while to find my method to tink ...ended up with the glass of water for 12hrs in a dark cupboard then once i see the shell cracked open and a lil bit of the roots is sitting inside is at the edge i switch to paper towel in two plates in a warm room away from lights (a shadowy corner of my bedroom) for 24-36 hours and by then i have an inch or atleast got a nice start on an inch... (i try to wait to get it atleast 3/4 of an inch ....i poke a hole in my soil deep enuff for the tap roote up to the bottom 1/4 of the seed and leave the rest above soil it sprouts in 12-24 hours sumtimes faster oh and i keep my light about 5-6 inches away once its in the soil...

Things to avoid

  • soaking seeds in water/wet paper tissue
  • mini-greenhouse with cover
  • heating mat too hot
  • covering pots with plastic
  • germinating in jiffy's and peat pellets
  • wrong soil for germination
  • fertilizing seedlings
  • too much/too little water
  • cold and dark germination room
  • wrong pH of water
  • bad water quality
  • high EC of nutrient solution in hydroponics
  • spraying seedlings with water/organic teas/pesticides

If you place a seed into properly prepared good soil and treat it right and it doesn't germinate it's because of YOU!

As a reference from a first time grower as well, this is what mine looked like at 18 days. image.jpegdon't stress it too much just learn as much as you can from your mistakes and remember to apply the knowledge you've gained to your next plant, Good luck with the grow!

I use the same method, except I put my seeds in a cup of water for about 24 hours, I let them sink to the bottom of the cup, then I get paper towels and put them in a sandwich bag and tape it shut and put it in my window seal for 3 days and boom, I have like a 1 to 3 inch tap root, works everytime if the seed is good too!

This is mine at 20 days old! I learned from my mistakes on my last grow and I'm doing a lot better this time! First time using cfl tho, usually I let Mother Nature do all the work, but I thought I'd give this a try!

THIS IS MY SET UP
GROW CLOSET: IS ABOUT 4 FEET TALL, FOR NOW IT IS 2 1/2 FEET LONG BY 2 FEET WIDE.
LIGHTS: 4 20 WATT 2700K 1300 LUMANS, 1 23 WATT 2700K 1600 LUMEN'S. I ALSO HAVE A 13 WATT 65OOK ON THE WAY.
SOIL: EARTHGRO SOILLESS MIXTURE.
NUTES: NONE RIGHT NOW BUT NEXT WATERING WILL BE MG 27/6/18. 1/4TH STRENGTH PER MILK GALLON.
H20: TAP UN-PHD WATER. UNTIL STRIPS COME IN MAIL.
SHE IS ON HER 4TH NODE RIGHT NOW. I HAVE ADDED SOIL A FEW DAYS AGO TO MAKE SOIL UP TO THE EMBRYO LEAVES.(HEARD IT MAKES IT STRONGER) I AM GUESSING THAT SHE WOULD BE ABOUT 3.5 INCHES IF I DIDN'T ADD DIRT.
HER EMBRYO LEAVES FELL SHRIVELED AND I CUT OFF WITH SHARP SCISSORS 3 DAYS AGO

OK SO I REALIZE THAT I AM WE WOULD SAY UP TO PAR WITH ALL THE GROWING TOOLS AND STUFF. I AM NOT RICH BY FAR SO I HAVE TO GET LITTLE BY LITTLE. MY QUESTION OR QUESTIONS ARE 1. WHAT IS THE BIGGEST FACTOR OF SHORT PLANT. WHY?
SHE IS 18 DAYS FROM POPPING SHELL. MOST PICS I SEE THE SAME DAYS OLD ARE WAY TALLER AND THE LEAVES ARE BIGGER. WHY? ITS LIKE I GOT A DWARF PLANT. SHOULD I WORRY?View attachment 3502957View attachment 3502959
i have experienced this a few times and it has been a error on my part....if you are germinating/starting in jiffy /organic sponges or root riot cubes you need to wait until the roots on each one are like an old mans white beard.... minimum of three inches from where they exit the medium to the ends of the roots only then is your plant established enough to maintain consistant healthy root development once potted on... do it too soon and growth will stop, also it looks as though you have gone straight to large pots,, if you should happen to over water in pots that are too large it will suffocate/drown your root zone before you (or the plant) have time to adjust the environmental factors.
i go from a paper towel to a pot noodle cup (with many holes) and when i see roots coming though i pot into 5 litre pots and there they stay.
stand the plants on a clean dry folded bath towel and see if it draws out much moisture if so replace the towel every day and withhold watering until she looks to be improving

Well first off you plant does not look very healthy. Its a bit yellow and i see burnt tips. Make sure your water is at the correct ph range what soil are you using? Also Miracle-Gro is a reaaly bad choice. AP nursery sells Fox Farm nutes and they are a much better choice but only start with 25% of the recommended feeding.

Mixing bulbs is fine. I think they grow better with a 2-1 mix.

In veg run one 2700k bulb to two 6500. Reverse in flower.

I run a 50/50 mix the whole grow with t5. I have also grown with 6500k all the way through.

Exactly. When seeds sprout, the tap root grows many very fine roots. Root hairs. The more those are moved, the more chance for damage. It is a seed.

Get a pot. Fill with soil. Poke hole knuckle deep. Drop seed. Cover. Lightly tamp down. Best way there is.
