Throw 1 plant in a normal 5 gallon dwc bucket tbh, if space is an issue use the 3gallon containers which are the same footprint but about a foot shorter. 5 plants in that wont last....

I've got 5 plants in a 5 gallon bucket right now so what do you mean "won't last"?

after looking at OP original post yes that res is a little small but I did 8 zero veg clones in on 5 gallon bucket. And now that I look at it, that res is clear. no light in the res. igloo cooler if you want to control temps and don't have a chiller. a 54 quart marine like I mentioned above will do 1-8 plants depending on how big you want them.

Igloo cooler, I have a 48 quart, or the 5gal cooler sports buckets/jugs like at sports games or construction sites.
The 5gal are at Lowes, Home Depot and Wal Fart.
No temps to be hassled with.
Check out the Cooler Club link in my sig.
LOTS of ppl have gone this route in the last year.
No one has complained about temps any more either !
When doing DWC, rez temps are/will be a growers #1 problem unless they have a chiller or cooler.
