Need help with light placement

I've been growing with an LED light for over a year now and I've been facing an issue that thus far I haven't worked out so I'm hoping maybe there's some tricks you all have found. My light is a Diamond Series XML 650.

The issue is I just can't seem to find the sweet spot between the light being too intense and bleaching the buds or too weak causing loose airy buds. After a lot of experimentation with light distance I found that if the light is too close it will start fox tailing and bleaching the top of the taller branches causing them to turn white and not develop property. Past that I get about 6 inches of pretty good intensity, past that the buds get progressively more airy and under developed.

Because of this I started doing SCROG which helped, but I was still left feeling like the drop off from the tops where the bud is excellent to 3 inches away where it's just good. The strain I grow (Mega Jackpot) is a very bushy stain, so I think that's been causing problems so I have been very aggressively pruning this time, well see how that goes. It's still fairly dense though.

Maybe I'm just harvesting too early? So many possibilities! Thoughts, insights, etc that you have on finding that sweet spot for light distance, keeping an even canopy, getting more consistent penetration, etc that you have would be greatly appreciated.

If you feel like your training, feeding regiment and environment are dialed in then maybe it's the light giving you the airy buds past X amount of inches
