Need help with Co2 (vinegar & baking soda)

You need to keep any of your CO2 methods exhaust point above the canopy. CO2 is heavier than air and just sinks to the ground. putting a bowl of dry ice next to plant won't do any good, the CO2 will just hang around the bottom and the leaves will be unable to make use of it.
 
i had the drip vinegar & baking soda setup, but it became a huge hassle trying to regulate the drips. I switched over to the sugar-yeast-water co2 system bcuz it last longer, (like 2-3 weeks and the vinegar and baking soda only last until the fizz goes away like 2-3 hours.) and its a higher, more dense concentration of co2

and the vinegar & baking soda is actually safer than sugar-yeast-water method IMO..google video search it, ppl make bombs outta bottles filled with sugar, water, and yeast..worse that could happen with baking soda & vinegar is what..it'll fizz over on your hands..?

that's why u put the dry ice in front or behind a fan/vent

Ive devised a way to utilize baking soda and vinegar efficiently to produce concentrated co2 ducts over a larger area.

What you'll need:

A tupperware type sealable container with a soft rubber lid. make sure the lid makes a good solid latch with the container.

2 plastic straws or some other form of solid yet rubberlike tubing with a large area for gas to move through.

A smaller round container, like the type small butter spread comes in.

PUSH POPS!

vinegar and baking soda, dumbass.

pointed scissors are a good look.

look at your sealed tupperware container from the top. mentally divide the area of the lid into 4 equal sections. this will help you visualize what im describing.

Start by piercing a hole slightly smaller than your straw at the edge of the 25% line of the top. this should allow 25% of the top to accommodate the solenoid we'll build.

Securely insert the straw into the hole. it should barely fit and be very snug and tight in the lid's hole. This seal is important. allow plenty of room for liquid and air to be inside the container without submerging the straw. the gas is intended to escape through this straw. i left about an half inch of straw hanging down inside my 5 inch deep container.

Pierce another slightly smaller hole in the side of the butter container, and repeat 2 more times in 1/3 intervals around the circumference of the butter container. Secure the butter container over the tupperware container's already inserted straw, and allow the straw to nearly fill the butter container. this allows overfill to fill the container without submerging the straw. you may have to cut the straw's length so that the butter container can fully accommodate it and still allow a small amount of room at the top. The butter container should not rest all of its weight on the straw, go ahead and make the butter container accept the whole straw and by that point be securely on top of the tupperware lid, held in place by the straw between them. (kinda kinky, eh?)

The other 2 holes will accommodate straws as well, but these straws will be the vents that duct the CO2 to your hungry plants. You can replace straws with hoses or whatever you can imagine to duct the CO2 from the solenoid to your plants. One note: They aren't lying when they say this solution will hurt your plants if it gets on the leaves. It'll turn them brown and they'll curl upward. so heed my warning and DO NOT place any plants directly under the vent ducts, and the solution may one day overflow through the solenoid and drain right onto your plants. what a pity that would be.

i drilled a 3rd hole the same way i did the other two, later, out of the bottom of the butter container, to accommodate a 3rd duct. this allowed 3 angles of CO2 dispersal.

THE SOLENOID is very important, as it will catch and disperse not only your good, precious gas, but any of that terrible solution. It will be safely contained inside the solenoid for easy disposal.

***I have pondered another hole in the bottom of the butter container (our solenoid) and another straw, placed between the tupperware container again, but allowing the new straw to barely protrude into the solenoid, this should, theoretically, allow the overflow from fizz solution to drain back out of the solenoid into tupperware container, but this theory, as of the writing of this, hasnt been tested yet.***

Now, we have something that looks a bit like a cross between a beer still and a martian. But trust me, it works.

Fill the tupperware container 75% full of white vinegar.

eat the pushpops, then after the candy is gone, see that these make GREAT capsules for slow releasing baking soda. fill the area that used to be full of candy with baking soda, pack it down tight. Open the other side of the tupperware lid from your solenoid, toss in the push pop container, close the lid, FAST! and watch as the push pop releases bubbles fast as hell.

experiment with other capsule devices for slow release of baking soda into the vinegar. I'm waiting for my wife to finish another lipstick tube ;-)

as the gas disperses out of the vinegar, it'll trap inside the tupperware container and travel up the staw into the solenoid, which will fill with CO2 as well and then disperse the CO2 out of the ducts onto your plants.

The problem with baking soda and vinegar is that vinegar eats up baking soda to produce CO2, and your left with some funky ass water as a byproduct of what used to be vinegar now minus the acidity. so, you'll see when the push pop canister is empty that the baking soda is just GONE. re-pack with baking soda and toss back into the container for more reaction, until the baking soda is gone again. repeat until the baking soda no longer reacts when tossed into the vinegar. this is when you'll need to change your vinegar out because its mainly WATER. since we've done all of our intricate sealwork to the lid of the tupperware, all we have to do is take the lid off and dump it. Then refill with fresh vinegar. EASY!.

Sometimes, you want to produce more gas. Simply use a bigger tupperware container, and more pushpops or other containers. as i write this, i wonder if a PVC pipe capped off at one end would make an EXCELLENT large scale slow release device.

Experiment, Experiment, Experiment!!

If you have overflow that flows up the straw into your solenoid, dont worry, thats the purpose of it! just drain the fluid that accumulates in the solenoid and continue use. You dont even have to drain right away, as long as gas can still disperse through your solenoid and out of your ducts.

I have a semi-enclosed grow area, in an enclosed room. I notice the air is markedly heavier in the whole room. This is the co2. USE CAUTION.

I arranged my plants around the co2 ducts, but left the dead center open in case fluid flowed out, and obtained optimal results. MAJOR and BEAUTIFUL growth.

Remember to enhance your N and other nutrients when using the CO2, to make the most of your venture.
