idont think the flashing is polished enough really, if you could get some with a really nice polish it would work killer, there is a local store here that make their own reflectors and they use polished aluminum and stuff like that, look up pacific garden supply and check out their luminarc reflectors and you will see what i mean

yea thanks looks nice but just cant buy them at this time. idk that aluminum flashing i have looks very shiny and thats what i used last time but still want something more reflective. may just have to paint it.
i have been waiting for months for a job replacing H.I.D. lights so i can use the reflectors from the old lights. usually those jobs come in the winter when its cold and gets dark earlier, then everbody wants their parking lot lights fixed. we had a couple eirlier on but others guys got to fix them and i wasnt going to ask them for the parts.

ive got some of those low bay lights and they have a polycarbonate reflector and im just not sure if it reflects the spectrum needed for the plants or just for us to see. i will get a pic later of the polycarbonate and post it.

here is a reflector that came with an hps fixture. it is a polycarbonate reflector. would this work as a good reflector for plants?

looks like more of a lenz to me. Something like that is made to disburse the light more sideways then anything. The 6 in pipe will work, cause remember when you open it up its now 12 in, and if you spread it out a little... well it gets bigger. I used a peice of stock ducting i found in the hvac dept at lowes. Just bent it up to the shape i wanted, some hooks, and chain. Tossed the light in and bam. If you want to make a cool tube, how bout just a vented hood. Bend yourself up a trapaziod and 2 end caps, then vent it. If you got 2, put them in line with each other and away you go.

Dont kow if we were talking cfl's or not, but anyways. Seen some guy on here ( cant find it now ) take a regular dome reflector, the cheap ones you get from the depot. Then cut 4 lines from the bottom to the neck, then bend em up. Put in 3 sockets that have the recepticle on the side, add 4 bulbs with plug in adapters, and presto 4 bulb cfl reflecter.

yeah i know about what your saying it being a lens. it does reflect light downward, just not sure if it reflect the spectrum for plants.
im not worried about reflectors for cfl's at this time. but the idea for the 4 bulb cfl's is good.
ive got a piece of 6 in ducting that is split. i bent it a little to get an idea what it would look like, and it is pretty good size. i need this piece for my exhaust so i will have to pick up a couple more pieces. its 2 feet long so i may be able to make 2 out of 1 piece.

i do have some different pipe adapters that i was planing on making a vented reflector.
just trying to come up with various options so that as the grow continues i can either go horizontal or vertical with an easy light change out since i will have everything put together and in ready mode.

thanks to all who have shared their input.
