I have no hydro experience. I Ordered a 6 site stealth hydro bubbleponics kit. I failed to grow anything. I had a cheap ph pen, and ppm meter also. The powdered nutrients just wouldnt dissolve, and left the water all murky. So I tossed all that stuff, and have switched to soil and done well. Now I want to try 5 gallon DWC buckets! What do I need to as far as supplies? I am assuming a good PH and PPM pens for starters. Blue Lab any good? What do I need to keep the root mass white and healthy? What are some good hydro specific base nutrients? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

5 Gallon bucket, hydro medium (rockwool) and some expanded clay pellets, net pot, air pump, air stone, $100 digital ph tester (eco ph pen) *don't need to use buffer to recalibrate i think*. cheap ppm tester. good nutes such as canna, gh or house & garden. make sure its for hydro the nutes. keep the nutes at ph 5.8. make sure you get ph down from the hydroponic store and not from the aquarium shop.

All you have to do is keep the ph 5.8, have air stone always pumping in the buckets, and make sure there always enough water in the bucket. don't add organic stuff in the nute mix or your ph is going to fluctuate.
