Need advice on DE ballasts

Has anyone hooked up a regular electronic ballast to the newer DE bulbs?

I'm specifically looking into the Ushio DE Pro Plus bulbs

If you've used these bulbs and don't use the standard Gravita Pro line, please tell us the ballast you're using so I can compile a list of compatible ballasts.

I've found that apparently the standard Lumatek DE ballasts can run these bulbs though I'm not sure at what efficiency based on a review of the AC/DE reflector by monstergardens.


Skip to 2min9s to see for yourself. The price tag of $120 seems to indicate this is an old ballast and not the "new DE" ones which makes me suspect companies are just trying to milk money out of unassuming customers who are misled into believing they need a whole new set of ballasts.

From that, I can surmise that most high frequency ballasts will work with DE bulbs. Now if only somebody who has used these things can confirm...

Last bump before I get a regular e-ballast to test this myself...
