I finished my first grow a couple of months ago. I started out with bagseed and very little knowledge. I ended up seeing 4 plants to harvest. 2 of them were pretty stretched, and the other two were almost identical to one another. The two plants that did not stretch turned out to be incredible bud, but they became infested with mold during flowering. I have since found a new place to grow, where i should be able to control the humidity much better.
I found the RIU forum in my aimless
wanderings across the internet, and it sparked me to get my stuff set back up. My current plants are one week old.
The first time around my seeds came from a collection that i had, and a large stash that was given to me by a friend. He gave me a jar with at least 200 seeds that he had collected from the commercial brick weed that was the norm when he was at college. This time, I have one more source of a seed. I had set 4 seeds aside from bags because they were from especially nice bud. One of them was from a purple strain grown locally, that i only know as "the purple". Two of the seeds were from the incredible bud from my first grow, and the last was just another i had set in with them because it was especially tasty bud. Good bud is not always available around here, so if i find a seed i make sure to keep it around. Unfortunately, only 1 of these seeds popped, but it is currently the largest seedling.
I am using Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil.
I have Fox Farm GrowBig, TigerBloom, BigBloom, and a nutrient additive called 'synergy', that is supposed to help the plant absorb and utilize the nutrients efficiently. I also have used TerraCycle 'wormpoop' indoor plant food. I used this in my first grow for the young plants, and i am using it again. It says that it is specifically designed to be very hard to overfeed with this product, and i use it on my very young plants .
The seedlings are currently under a 4-bulb 48" T5 fixture with the vegging bulbs. I have a second identical fixture, as well as flower spectrum bulbs for both.
This is my current plan, but i would love any suggestions/ ideas you have:
I have 12 healthy seedlings that i will soon move to larger pots. When they are strong enough, i want to take two clones from each, root them, and flower them to weed out all of my males. I will then choose which of my females to use as my mother. At some point i would like to get a 400W-600W HPS for my flower room, and use the Fluros for the Veg/ cloning, build a CFL box for my mother. Given the timeframe i should be able to pull this off, but the plans could always change due to finances.
I am here to get suggestions and tips, as i am a veteran toker, but a rookie grower, so if you have any ideas let me know!
