My review of Synergy Health Sevices

After getting a referral from my family doc booking an app was fast, maybe 1.5 weeks wait time. I had to reschedule and it wasn't a problem. The staff was friendly and eager to help with the initial paperwork. The docs there are very thorough and want supporting med docs stating your illness, or injury. While I was there 4 teens at different times showed up trying to see a doc for their weed license, lol! They were sadly shown the door and told they need a referral.

They urine test you there I guess looking for other drugs, mine came up clean except for cannabis. After some discussion on how I ingest my cannabis we came up with 4grams a day would fit my needs, and it does easily. The one thing I didn't like was he wouldn't let me split my script. He says you can come in anytime to switch LP's but he's not splitting scripts. They have a person calling all the LP's on a daily for availability of meds and if you don't know which one you want they will recommend. Right now they like cannimed. I went with Tilray. ( review soon to follow)

Overall it was very easy and comfortable experience. Dr Price was genuine, understanding and helpfull. OHIP paid for everything, no out of pocket expenses from my end. The script is only good for three months then I go back for renewal like any other med I have. So for anyone looking around hamilton with a legit need this place was helpful.

So instead of ripping of the patient for a once per year $400 fee this clinic is ripping of taxpayers with useless procedures like urine tests and making patients go back every three months.....

My family doc makes me go back every three months for my heart meds? What's the difference? Once I find the right strain I'm sure he'll write a script for longer.

Please don't get me wrong...I'm not busting your balls. I'm glad you found a way.
Why the need for a urine test?...so demeaning and intrusive.
What in the urine would disqualify you?
Difference between heart meds vs mmj....uh....substantial I'd say.
Keep us posted if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to know if they make you keep going in every 3 months.

Mac I don't know what they are billing OHIP, would like to know.

They're looking for illegal narcotics. I had traces of ( I can't remember what it's called) used in meth. I said I had no idea what he was talking about and we figured it was from the cough syrup I had on Saturday. If you have say coke in your system I guess it's a deal breaker with them. You may have an addictive personality. As for the 3 month script he wants to follow up on the strain I'm using and the progress if any I'm having with it. By heart meds I mean blood pressure pills. I'll definitely keep you posted and write a review with pics from tilray.

Cool, thanks. Good luck with your LP.

Another revenue source for this clinic is the data that is collected.
Patients with different symptoms with different strains. That information will have value for someone (LP) down the road. They might even be helping to subsidize the clinic already, who knows.

Every three months....yikes. Pain in the ass. Does the doctor not trust you to identify the strain/pheno for you,? sounds pretty 'intrusive. As for whether or not one displays addictive traits or identifies themselves as an addict, hell there are addictions to just about everything/anything these days. My doc signed for a year and said we'd review the scrip then. Does sound like the characteristics of a psychiatrist. They just love labelling people as addicts, that way they can deny the cannabis yet ply you with a plethora of pharmaceuticals.
There is a difference between medicating and self-destructive addictive behaviour that seems to escape the scope of the understanding of the 'learned ones'.........when it comes to cannabis...lol

Their reasons for urine testing is just speculative on my part. :)

Who's your doctor? Lol! :clap:

I've had 5 in the last 4 years all wanted nothing to do with this. My current one signed the referral in seconds thankfully.

It's about control.....why dies a diabetic have to go in to have scripts renewed for a disease that has no cure? Are they suddenly going to wake up one morning and not be diabetic? This way they keep their hand in the pie. Is what ails you going to be alleviated with 3 months use of mj? I am, however, glad this clinic isn't charging the patient directly.

It sounds to me like the doc is trying to fit mmj patients into his normal medical model. First they gotta run some blood/urine tests for their file. If you get blood pressure medicine or cholesterol, or any other kind of things they plan to keep you on forever they always give you three months worth and then have you come back to for a visit to make sure it's working and you're having no side-effects, and maybe another test of some kind. Once they've had you back a couple times, and everything seems to be working then they'll write you a prescription for the year and kick you loose.

If you asked anyone in the healthcare field, they would tell you this doc is just doing his due diligence, and making sure his files are complete enough to withstand any scrutiny from the medical association. Which is good, because the last thing folks like us need is to have another mmj-friendly doc get shut down.

So he's just getting the system to pay for his services instead of the patient and doing so more regularly. Maybe there's more money going that way. Leaf, do you think if the CMA was a little more supportive that drs would willingly sign without a fee or at least a more reasonable fee? I gotta pay the doc every 4 years to write a letter to get an insulin pump for my kid. Mind you it's only $25 or something like that.
