looking very nice, garden guru nutes?

from the pics, the ak48 should be chopped asap...of course, i prefer the upbeat head high...
you could wait for a maximum of maybe a week to get the trichomes darker and get a real
stone...

the ww can go for at least a week, i'm guessing 2...?
i'm still yet to get a grasp of how plants mature under an hps bulb...
the second pheno (big) does look marginally ahead of the smaller one...

do let me know how much you get per plant wet : )

i'm still having small issues here and there, making a comparatively large indoor
grow room in a humid climate is a handful...

Hey this a bit off topic but I recently went to hoskote to score and I was wondering if you guys could post pics of some of the stuff you got. I want to know if what I scored is good and what to look for next time. I hear the stuff gets better in Nov.

you don't need pictures to decide whether what you got is good or not ;)

also, november is one upgrade for hoskote, but the real big fish come in jan/feb. i know every dealer in and around hoskote, so if you give me a name i'll tell you when the best stuff gets out from that guy

i used to pick up 500g to 1000g every week from one person there and when you do that for 6 months a year, a bond becomes between to people...lol

So all the dealers there provide similar stuff? Where can I find the best dealers? Like the stuff we scored looks okay compared to Indian standards but I'm just curious there is better. We scored 40g for 1500. Good deal?

gotta give me the name of the dealer mate, or I can't tell you much. either way, 40g for 1500 is an expensive deal, and i only know one guy who sells at 1500 at this time of the season, but I don't buy from him because he's a bit too cocky...you can get 100grams for 2000 from the other dealers, better stuff.

Okay I dont remember the name but I will look into it the next time I score. Also do you have any experience or maybe your friends have experience shipping weed from the US or Canada to India?

Yes. GG nutes. I checked the trichomes. They have just started to turn amber on ak48. And are still all cloudy on white widow. So I guess I'll chop when I get about 15% amber.

Thank you. What are you growing now days?

i asked because i was trying and am still trying my hand at chemicals at well and it really isn't going anywhere as good as the organic. for a lazy fuck like me something like organic where i have to do work only once and then just water works easier. if i miss the feed by even a day or two, the plants start to show it. and i have issues with the plants needing nutrients but the soil still has plenty of water, so i need to keep working on getting a different feeding schedule or worst case, make my medium sandier for more drainage.

i am growing ethiopian landraces, a couple of personally developed and modified strains from belgium, NL, cali and New Zealand...as well as the recently (successfully!!!! :D ) germinated colombian gold x pakistan chitral, afghan skunk haze, and lady cane. Half will be organic half will be chemical, we'll see what happens. i have nutes from hesi and advanced nutrients, i want to compare to GG nutes and see. whats your feeding schedule like?

and what lights do you use, how much distance from the plant? cause in a vertical setup, i'm able to keep plants 5-6 cm from a 400w HPS bulb - with horizontal and a reflector this distance becomes a minimum of 8cm for some strains and a maximum of 20cm for others

i've got the prests under control, i had fungus gnats but they're splattered all over the sticky traps, and the neem is keeping them from coming again, ive been spraying for about a month so the effects have just about kicked into power. i daresay my ventilation is fine at the moment, my plants are (at the closest point) as little as 2" from the bulb and no problems. one of them got a bit close last week when i was out of town and just about started touching the bulb and man that leaf is fucking toasted. i wonder

i made the biggest possible mistake when i went out of town - i left a single cfl on in the flowering room, by an idiotic quirk of fate (read: stonedness and stupidity) and although the plants have each grown at least 4" in the past 6 days, only two of them have preflowered, and they are two of the africans which have already experienced some ridiculous photoperiod fluctuation from their seedling days and have decided that they're decidedly male, which is irritating. one of them is my healthiest bushiest plant as well.

on the plus side, i watered half the plants with hesi coco bloom and a PINCH of epsom salt per litre cause they were showing a rapidly developing mag def...and i must say, the ones that were watered with a combination of my piss and sannie's beneficial bacteria are doing just as well as the ones watered with hesi nutes. kind of interesting but i guess one feed isn't enough to show a massive difference. again,. thread starting soon, i just want some good pictures first.

going to germinate seeds of sour diesel (from a cali cut), afghan skunk haze (from mr.nice) and safari mix (mandala seeds - perhaps one of my favorite packs of mixed seeds of an extremely high quality on the market! works out about 1Euro/seed excluding shipping. normally, at least half of the females are keepers. some of them even seem to exhibit some degree of hybrid vigour.
Dude, fungus gnats be all in my shit too, now... I might look into those sticky traps n sand, but Im also thinking it wont be worth my time since my shits pretty infested w/mites also smfh.... I think Indoor or a completely sealed off outdoor setup, plus maybe Hydro/DWC is my only hope in keeping these bugs out. NOTHING is stopping these mites. Makes me jealous when you mention all these dank Hybrids you got going lol but I'm also glad I didnt spend money on any recently.. Obv, they wouldve been fucked in these conditions.

i'm having trouble getting seeds to germinate. i'm in a new part of india that's very very humid and after my first few african landraces that germed perfectly, i'm having trouble germinating anything else properly. this was the LAST of the problems i expected. Just to make sure it's not somethin with me, i've ordered sannie's spongepots to see if that makes a diff. if it works in those then i'll know i'm an idiot and will have to hit the drawing board again
A lot of the same seeds which I germ'd b4 monsoon had a way better germ rate, then, compared to the ones I put now. Before, I did paper towel, then planted em. This time, paper towel didnt germ em, but some still sprouted after I put em in dirt. Another thing which you probably already know is using a really loose seed starter type mix. Like str8 coco, or coco n perlite worked wonders for me last time. This time, I used my coco, soil mix which my adults are in(I thot was loose enough) but it's still a bit thick for seedlings and theyre growing slow n small. Preserving the seeds by using a proper storage method(which I didnt really go about) also proly helps in the success rate.
Jes some pics of my 2 avg ass plants...

and my 1 below avg ass plant.. it practically LST'd itself XD

correct me if i'm wrong, but if you're in bangalore you shouldn't really be having any fungus problems, i was able to grow some really dense nug strains outdoor unshielded from rain through last year's monsoon season, no germ problem or anything. this time, i germed in sannie's spongepots and went really really light on the water...3/8 germed, so i'm going to go even lighter this time and cross my fingers...

I'm in Mumbai and the air's been stagnant, humid and smoggy as shit, lately. I'm growing on the balcony where the direct light periods are shorter and only really hit during certain seasons. This tends to make my crops not quite as big n strong as a real outdoor grow. 3/4 of my crops died in the wind/rains and the mites here just seem str8 up uncontrollable. Yeah, the Indian buds don't seem to have probs with Humidity, it's mainly the mites that fuck shit up for me! As far as germination goes.. I think age of the seeds also played a role in my germ rate, this time. Weird tho, cause they only been sitting for 3-4 months in tupperware and in a cool space. Maybe silica packets woud've helped? Oh well...
Sponge pots sound good. I haven't used any myself, tho. Anything loose, porous, low in nutes, has worked well for me. I just chanced it this time w/the mix I had prev stored, cause I wasn't up for the 1hr+ journey to the shop. I'm seriously considering doing Hydro now, but the spike in the electric bill is the main thing holding me back. Even if I pay for the bill, parents would wonder why n where da fuck it's coming from -__- I gotta come up with something.. I don't think I'll have these probs growing when I move south.

i have grown for a friend in mumbai once, right about at this time of year, and let me tell you that it is not an easy task, indoor and outdoor. controlling humidity in a small indoor area is fairly easy with 500 rs worth of silica packets. the outdoor is the problem. if you're growing in a balcony, once they cross the seedling stage they NEED an oscillating fan to be there circulating air around or they won't get halfway to budding before rotting. and if you're low on outdoor light, i would strongly advise you to purchase regular seeds of the strain KC 45 by KC Brains seeds. it's about 35 pounds inclusive of shipping to india for ten regular. even with insufficient light, these get big. they're poor performers indoors, but outdoors, wow. they are resistant sons of bitches too. and they're autoflowering, but really grow like they're not. also, once your plants as tall as the diameter of their final pot, you will want to cover the pot with a 1" layer of either construction sand (110RS for 40kgs in bbay) or perlite. sand is heavy but perlite is heavy on the wallet. this sand prevents any soil breeding larvae, from fungus gnats or otherwise. when your plant has crossed 2 weeks of age, spray it with neem oil solution 2 times a week until it starts getting noticeable buds. mites are best prevented, not cured. the best cure is to reset. the effort in a climate like the mumbai one is not a forgiving one, and certainly not when it comes to unhealthy plants.

as for me, i've got a bit of everything going, looking for a good mommy. why?

Hey guys,

Im looking to start my first grow in south India(chennai)..Im looking to grow indoors(outdoor not an option) but i have no clue if its possible here with the humidity/temp.
I could really do with some pointers regarding setup/lights and seeds from someone who has done it in the south.Ive been looking into LED lights(Blackstar Hydro 135w LED) aswell as HPS.
Im looking to start with 3-4 plants..Im pretty sure HPS will generate too much heat for an enclosure to handle in chennai.

Looking forward to some inputs from the Pros..!

Cheers

welcome to the growing scene my friend, if I can grow in 36-38C which it's at right now, in the 80%+ r/h with 2 HPS bulbs in 2 square metres, i'm sure you can too ;) although an LED is not a bad idea for a small grow at all. especially for three to four plants. you might want to get something around 200W though, but i'm not the best person to advise you on that. order strains from mandala's seedbank (through attitude) or from eskobar (through seeddepot)

there are some basic things you should consider...

1) your grow size is not defined by the number of plants but by the area and height of available space for growing. naturally, your lightbulb also depends on this. so first thing you should do is decide what area is available for your growing purposes and how much vertical space in that area that you have. it all depends on that. you can easily fit 25 plants of the right strain comfortably in one square metre (if its your first grow i'd stick to 15 though) in a SOG style, or you can grow one plant in one square metre SCROG style, and then again there's the option of growing 40-50 per square metre in a VSOG, which i would not recommend given our humid climate.

2) likewise, your ventilation source and the size of your fan that you use is dependent on two things: the size of your room, and how you plan on ducting the fan (if you are ducting it, which i frankly think is a waste). remember, ducting with bends and curves has a massive impact on airflow through the duct so remember to compensate for this.

3) I would like to use a dehumidifier for my grow. Unfortunately, at the moment, i'm testing in a 100 sq foot room. I say testing as I am only utilizing about 12 square feet of space under (or rather around) 1 400w HPS bulb. The problem with a 100sq foot room is it requires a massive amount of airflow. If I have such a huge amount of stale air being pulled out and fresh air being sucked in, unless i route the intake through the dehumidifier, it makes no sense to have a dehumidifier as fresh (and naturally, humid) air from outside is always coming in while the stale (dehumidified) air is always being sucked out. I would require a ductable dehumidifier to route to the straight 6" intake duct that i've got and those are upwards of 40-50k. a portable dehumidifier just sitting in the room is not an option, as for the amount of airflow i've got, i would need a dehumidifier that costs around 30k and it would be perpetually running in an environment it's not designed to run in and the elec. bills would stack up.

However, since your grow is much smaller, i think a dehumidifier would go quite nicely if you're willing to make the investment. remember, you'll need one that is intended for about 5 to 6 times the volume of your grow zone. so a dehumidifier intended for about 100 sq feet should serve your purpose nicely.

4) to construct it yourself, I would personally advise you to build a wooden frame and cover the outside with tarapulin, and use a reflective surface (i personally like buying the things people put on their car windscreen to reflect sunlight) for the inside.

Im dealing with approx a room of same size..its about 80-85 sq ft and its 9ft high.It has just one window.First of,How many plants could i grow effectively with just 1 400 W HPS light?..What size of an enclosure would be looking at to utilize the lights to the max..?..I dont know to much about SOG but can i get a fast yeild that way?..Thanks a lot for the help!..Im really confused as to how to start right now.Once i decide on the size of an enclosure i plan on ordering a Mylar lined grow box/tent.If need be i could get it made aswell but im leaning towards buying one.

Cheers
