My Organic Oil Mix

Thought I would post my soil mix, for anyone intrested. I've been refining it for the last two years and think I finally have it down. So here it is:

1 bag Roots Organic,
1 bag Happy Frog,
1-15 lbs. bag earthworm castings,
2 cups bone meal
2 cups blood meal
2 cups Indonesian bat guano

I mix all these together then water it with a mixture of 1 Tbls. molasses to 1 gallon of water. I then put the soil in a rubbermaid container and bake it in the sun for a minimum of two months( I've found longer is better). I give my plants straight water through veg. Once they move to flowering I then water them with 1 Tbls. molasses and 1 tsp. Kelp+ per gallon of water.
This mixture has given me great results. I have grown every other way...hydro,soiless, ect. and none have gave me the quality that I get from this mix.

Hope this helps. Give me your thoughts.

Looks good.

The only things I could add are: I usually use double the bone meal vs blood, but perhaps that guano is a high P?

Kelp meal is a bit slow to break down and I would add some to the original mix, like 1/2 to 1 cup.

I am also a fan boy of dolomite lime, or something similar (Garden lime, oyster shell flour, etc.), and would add that to the original mix. Good for pH and cal/mag. But, if you aren't having issues .......

Maybe a bit of rock powder like Azomite. You have access to local compost?

I have been using a mixture of bloodmeal (beef blood), fish gut blood and water, rock dust, bat guano and a seaweed tea all mixed into the compost I buy. It was working wonderfully until I made the stupid decision to introduce chemical ferts to the mix. Live and learn I guess.

I haven't been using kelp meal wetdog I have been using the liquid form. I have added it to the mix before hand but everything that I have read says its already chelated. I also just bought some leonardite.

Oh, ok.

I'm a big fan of kelp, but mainly just use the meal added to my mix. I top dress with it on long term plants like my mothers, but it really breaks down too slowly for say a top dress in flower.

You really start to notice the benefits, along with any rock dust's if you recycle the soil. Seems to take them that long to get broken down enough to where you really see results.

You ought to try some kelp meal in your mix. Don't need much and it won't preclude the use of the liquid in flower like you are doing. I'll bet you like the results.

Another reason to recycle and / or do a no-till. Take advantage of the improvements in the soil over time

Thanks guys I will definitely try the kelp meal also next round how much would you say you would use for my size mix wetdog? I was actually going to do the recycled soil this time around. I haven't been doing it but my buddies that use my mix said they have been doing it with good results so ill try it.

I don't know how big those bags are, but I use 1/2-1cup/cf of mix. More is not better with kelp, a little goes a long way.

Just going by the other amounts, say a healthy cup for that mix?
