My Growitup Greenhouse Build
Grow Journal will follow.

Hi People, I was having trouble scoring bud for my ailments so I got legal. Now I’m a patent here in Cali and a care giver for a couple others. I have been growing inside for a while now and with everyone’s help here I have been successful. These have been Cabinet grows mostly. My first one I had a room though. Anyway I think I can keep some plants alive through a natural season.

I picked up a lot here but didn’t find any greenhouse builds or grows for that matter. All I have done is hydro so I would like some opinions on my ideas.

I am building a greenhouse that’s 12ft by 8ft in the back corner of my yard.
The area has a southern exposure but the house shades it from early morning sun.
2x4 construction with clear polycarbonate panels on the top and white on the sides.
Greenhouse will be vented with vents bottom and an intake fan. Exhaust will be three roof vents that open at 75° and close automatically at 55° cool huh? Then a couple small windows with screen (and rebar) with a small air conditioner for temps over 90°

I still need to get a dehumidifier.

Even though I am legal, I would rather people didn’t know about it. People steal things and I am going to make it as tough as I can to get inside this without making a bunch of noise. On the other hand I’m not rich so it’s Home Depot and Lowes for supplies.

I gave myself a budget of $800
Here are more plans I drew up with paint

This will house 12 plants. The 6 plants in the front will be trained and kept at about 48" and the plants in the back I will prune for height, about 72"

I’m going with a brick floor for stability and drainage so plants will be in pots. 7 gallon pots for the back row and 5 gallon for the front. Not sure of the soil mix yet. Maybe layers of different mixes with more flower nutes at the bottom. I don’t know…

I will be using the end of an existing patio for part of the flooring,

Watering will be automated by timer and drip system with a reservoir to add nutes as needed. I want misters to be a similar design. I don’t know how much pressure it takes to run those things though.

I want something like this inside.

OK, Well I started this a week ago so I will bring ya all up to date.
Here is the area,
3/13

Took me a couple days to get the plants out of there and moved the shed over a bit.

3/16

3/18

I got the stumps out today and went and got some lumber.
Tomorrow I start construction by sinking a few 4x4's and leveling out the area. I will be using 1 in of sand then pavers (thin cement blocks) just set in the sand and filled between. I found out it would cost $800 to pour a cement pad and that would be my whole budget. This floor will cost about $100

By the way, I am not a carpenter Im a salesman by trade so if someone sees me screwing this thing up feel free to give me a heads up. Im not an electrician either but Im gonna run power out here. I just figure shit up as I go along.

That’s about it, all comments and suggestions are welcome.

I hear yah about the electricity part. I had same issue, so I talked to a couple people on side here and there and then picked up a book from the Depot and managed to install two new breaker runs safely and up to code. After careful reading and planning, anything is possible though eh? From your skills in the cab grow I have seen, you will have that greenhouse on its own breakers in no time. :)

im stoked to be jumpin on board early here cruz. im excited to also see a new style of grow and experimenting from u.

i did outdoor organic grow and indoor grows so i have a decent mix of experience to share with u.

for the construction design its a greenhouse in sumwat a windresistant area so im sure that type of support will work fine. ill think up sum other ideas and let u know if i come up with sumthing to help but i myself have never built a greenhouse so i cant talk too inteligently about it. but running a drip system will save u time watering and give u better control. u can actually do a full hydro system outside just like indoors if u wanted but like u said ure on a budget so we will make it work. i liked the option of doin a soilless mix (without nutes in the soil) and just make ur own recipe and have total control of the feeding. i started with fox farm ocean forest soil which is "hot" as is and worked fine for me during veg but u need to add for flower phase. thats just my opinion but if u want to layer or mix ur own soil maybe check out "greenthumb"s profile hes good with origanic and homemade outdoor soil and knows alot about it. im sure theres others out htere but he helped me alot when i got started.

about running electricity keep in mind security for things like visibility and anitfire safety. if u ever have service guys gardners etc go into ur yard any signs of cables power etc being ran in could b obvious unless they really think its just tomatoes. lol. keep the power above water reach and should be cool. i know sum basics on breaker circut amps etc im not sure if u know how many amps ur setup will be drawing (lights fans intake exhaust AC etc) but doin a subpanel could help but again the budget issue. i too do sales and leanred all my mechanical shit from my dad who owns an air condition company and an electrician. i can help with AC and duct work design fans etc as well. id prob be more reliable with that anyways. electrical is always tricky and needs to be triple checked imo.

are u doin an outdoor scrog or free standing xmas trees? trimming purning LST etc? im sure ull do scrog 8)
7gal should get u a good size plant and root system.

about the misters im not sure ive read about that but im assuming u wont use it for flowering cuz mold etc?
u doin it for a foliar feed style or raise humidity? just wondering

anyways enough rambling im stoekd to see the get started. makes me want to do outdoor again

rep for the new concept

Sure is man, Ill share something with ya, When I was young my dad told me " Do what you do best son, and pay others to do what they do best." At the time it was good advice. Now in the age of the internet where information on just about anything you want is right there. Different story.
Glad to see ya abord Fred.

Wasssup man.
Glad to see you here Boomer All real good information, Thanks man.

No hydro at first, I think the plants will outgrow the area. Vegging for months like this. Dont you?

Soil, I liked the dream team mix too. Much more control over nutes. I didnt actually do the feeding but the end product was not that great. Im thinking we were either missing micro nutrients or just not enough nutes, i dont know but I want something in there for the first round. Ill check out outdoors posts.

The six in the front will be a scrog. The back, christmass trees.

Yea, Im sure I will have a lot of humidity, the misters are to foliar feed in the morning. Maybe once a week. I gotta look into it still.

Electric, My plan is to tap off a line I had installed the main service panel with a 30 amp breaker. This line powers my current grow. Its run to a small service box with breakers then to my grow. I wanna tap into it after the main panel 30 amp breaker and before the small panel that has 15 amp breakers. AC will probably pull the most juice. Then a heater for a spring harvest. Veg indoors or just buy large clones and flower out there for spring harvest.

Cool, welcome.

Badass Cruz...way to go ..got legal!!!!:eyesmoke:
Im in the front row watchen!!
Right on Goat, Your the man when it comes to producing big buds in pots.
Looking at several grows, I think you get more out of your plants then most growers and welcome any sugguestions you got for me.

Quite a project you set for yourself! I'm excited to see how this turns out, good luck!
Glad to see you here Doe, You grow the most healthy looking plants I see at this site. I'm excited too. Not only is this 12 times the square footage its twice as high. It needs a womans touch to keep me in line or I'll grow monsters and rule the world! Mu ha ha ha!

the hydro outdoor would prob be space limiting like u said but u can incorporate hydro style feeding like drip emiters or rings etc. just a thought. but the misters will be interesting to see how they work out so i say go for it.
ill be followin silently til i hvae sum advice or feel like rambling. haha. so i wish u best of luck!

Looks great! I've thought about building a greenhouse before too, I'll be following this one for sure.
Welcome Cephei, feel free to post any ideas.

Glad to see ya made it Integra, It should be May 1st if all goes as planned.
Harvest in late September, clean up and then start some clones and veg them up indoors and plant them feb/march and get a spring harvest in april and start again.

I am keeping the large cab up and flowering, then using the smaller one to veg with.

Thats the plan anyway.

Todays progress.

After adding water to the post mix I shot everything down. Hopefully that will help me level it. Dam, this is work!

Time for a beer.

be glad to help w/ any electrical advice.
your dual cab was a partial inspiration to my current grow. Love to see what you would do with a greenhouse.

Looks like you know what your doing;)
Ha! I fooled another one.
No, I am a "I can make that" kinda guy, I know how to read and follow directions is about it. Well, I kinda make my own directions. I follow theres when all else fails. :-?
Thanks for the compliment.

That would be good man.
I will sketch out what I want to do and post it in a week or so. I play around with low voltage stuff but havent acually installed a breaker box.
Maybe you can tell me what I need to do.
Thanks!

hardwork always pays off. ull get it cruz 8)
Yea, good exercise too... Im gonna sleep like a baby.

Went and got the rest of the materials today, I have spent $925 so I went $125 over budget but I got everything I could think of.
After unloading I got the floor started.

Looks like I am gonna need a hell of a lot more sand doing it like I am.
I have one inch of sand under these bricks. I wonder if I really need that much sand under the brick or dirt will do.
If the sand just to help level it out and 1/2 in will work. Then I have enough.
