My Grow Room

i built this grow room from a large home subwoofer speaker box, which looks like no different to how it did before i converted it, ofcourse it doesnt work as a speaker anymore.
i have insulated it with some warm wool-like material, and have white painted materials in the very inside walls and ceiling to reflect light.
i cut out a round section behind it nearer the top and mounted a 12v computer fan to the back which starts on its own every two hours for ten minutes. i ofcourse removed the actual speakers themselves from the box leaving a cavity in the front which is used to check/water my plant by simply removing the cover of the box. the light, its simple, not very high powered but it keeps the temperature in the box quite warm usually at a consistant amount between 22-30 degrees celcius. i germinated two seeds last week and planted them 6 days ago. my first plant has started vegitating quite fast, it has about 2 inches perhaps, maybe a little less, but it certainly doesnt look like anything is going wrong considering the progress.
i know a lot of people sugest being a lot more thorough and using "the right gear" and giving it fertilizer and shit all the time, but i must ask what are the chances that this will keep growing without any problems considering the simplicity of my grow room?
i can provide more details if they are required to get an idea. this is more of a diy job, experimenting a bit, although i will try to do things as properly as i possibly can but i am limited to certain things.
holla at me

what kind of light are you using, and what are the dimensions of the interior?

I have reconstructed my grow room into a matchbox so to conserve energy from my 4000w hps. Now with the smaller space air flow is no longer a problem, and further decreasing my electric consumption. I will be checking my tricks tomarow to see how far along my bushes are...

60x39x30cm, (height x width x length). the light is only a 100watt lamp, tell me thats stupid, i know its nothing professional. but if it will work like it has been working so far, then im not complaining, perhaps i can remove plants from here when they are a month or two old and plant them in a sunny secluded area in my yard, all i need to know is if this room will continue to yeild results right through to the later stages of growth, has it been done like this before?

keeping in mind ive seen pot growing almost on my lawn here that wasnt so much as germinated or even planted, just what happened when your smoking some shit that has seeds in it and you drop a few.
the climate should be alright for growing outside here, i dont think there will be any more frosts at this time of the year too.

what kind of 100w lamp is it? if its an energy saving light (cfl), or regular flouroescent, or a high intesity discharge lamp (hps/mh), then itll be okay. if its a normal 100w light bulb, or a halogen bulb, then your plant wont grow, itll just stretch and go all spindly...

best of luck

Chill brother!! We will like you if you give us a chance. Instead you come out, and explain you have seen MJ growing in your yard so its no big deal. Did they get bigger than 60 cm. If not you'd better move. The light you are using will not do the job. It will probably fry the plants. But hey, won't be anymore frost outside?? VV

its actually one of those energy saving bulbs. who knows what will happen, but at least it wont cost me a fortune by the end of the month lol.
this morning i checked on it, and its now about 3 inches high, and the first four leaves have gained size over night also, the second plant, it barely sprouted, i should have let it germinate for longer infact, but we all make mistakes and learn from them, fortunately its not so costly being in the early stages and all.
il upload images if anyone is interested, even i was surprised how fast this plant grew, being the first time i attempted growing indoors.

is the energy saving bulb (cfl) actually rated at 100w, or is it equivalent to 100w?

eg. 18w of power, with light output equivalent to a 100w regular, incadescent bulb.

tell us what it says on the bulb box, or on the bulb itself.

By taking a secondary box out side and open it up, so to capture the light of the sun, you can then re-route it's escape "via ducting" into your grow box. This should be sufficient for a day's worth of lumens..Gl I hope to read more of your progress, and send some pics.....

lookin good. if you have an energy saving bulb of say 18w, thats fine for now, but as soon as 'she' starts developing her next set of leaves you want to get something bigger...

check out the envirolite lamps, big energy saving bulbs but rated at between 125-250w, true watts as oppose to 18w = 100 quasi watts

quite cheap lamps and not much heat. worth a look without spendin too much

il look for something like that, but its a shame i cant just change the bulb, the lamp can only handle below 60 watts. its no big deal il just have to take off the fan, take the lamp out and fit a complete new one, at once i find and purchase one. does anyone know anything at all about fertilizer? if so what should i be looking for as far as that goes, and at what stage to start introducing it to the plant.
thanks
