my first outdoor grow

Friend gave me 3 girls veg'd indoors for 8 weeks - AK47, White Gold and Sour Diesel. Put them in 20 gal pots in high quality dirt from a local grower. Transplanted them outdoors in April and that might have been a tad early. We even had some hail and snow and freezing temps for 3 days in a row. All the plants got pretty badly nipped and the tips of all their shoots turned brown. Lotta brown leaves. Somehow the girls recovered and rebounded. They started growing really well and was just giving them pH water. By the time they got to be 6 feet tall they seemed hungry and I started feeding them. Used pretty low ECs first general hydroponics then Humboldt's Secret A/B. Then a f*%&KN hurricane Isaias blew threw and split the Sour Diesel right down the main stem!! And also split off a huge branch on the White Gold! I duct taped them back on and put some stakes in and damn, it didn't seem to even phase them, they just kept on growing and did not lose a single leaf. Crazy. Still feeding them Humboldt's and they seem to like it. Biggest problem is some insect that is coming in at night and devouring these girls. Could be slugs, or differential grasshopper, or earwigs, but they're doing major damage. I sprinkled diatomaceous earth around the base of the pots to keep the slugs out. Gave each girl an aspirin 325 mg to boost their own defenses - 325 mg dissolved in 1 gallon water. They seemed to really like it and pest damage is much less suddenly.
