My First Grow!

Well this is the start to my long awaited grow journal. I finally received everything and in a furry or opening boxes and getting everything set up i finally have everything up and running. The one Smart pot on the left is Bomb Berry Bomb the right is Reserva Privada Skywalker OG Kush.

The Medium is Fox Farm Ocean and Forest and by the pics i am sure that you can see the Nutes! The light is a CLW Solar Storm 400w. Now i have never used a HPS to grow. But at the moment i know i am loving this light! Very quiet and low power consumption! BY NO MEANS and i saying that this is better then a tryed tested and true MH or HPS bulb. But for me. It works and the plants seem to like it.

The ligh has been hanging at 12 inches above the plants up intill week 3 and moved it up to 18 inches. I noticed that of other peoples grows of the same strain that mine seem to be shorter. But a hell of alot bushier !

Because i havent had the time to post i figured what i would do is just post all the pics on here in one shot. Basically the pics start from the seedlings all the way to the end / start of week 4. Now i have been following the FF Feed chart the whole way through. The Berry Bomb after 3 weeks Measures only 6 inches the Skywalker measures around 7- 7.5 inches. I only planned and hoped to veg for 4 weeks. However cause of the size i think that ill run the veg for 1 more week if not 2 . Anyway enjoy the pics !

Hey, don't take this the wrong way, but I think you are over watering big time.

The leaves need to be dry enough to hold themselves up. Simple mistake. I do it. Simple to correct.

400w is all you need. I hate to see guys with 150w LED thinking they can get big yields. Watts is yield. So, you can shoot for 200 grams per run under 400w, maybe more.

Hey any advice is well noted and i woudnt take anything the wrong way. This being my first grow i am slowly figuring things out. And its good to get advice for people that have done this alot more. But the last pics you see with the LEDs turned off. They havent been watered in that pic of over a week. Ill water with Nutes on a Sunday and they seem to be good almost right to next Sunday. They both have been like that for seedlings. One watering a week. Thats it . They seems to not want to take lots of water. Ive had to open up the the timer more tho for the Intake and Exhaust cause i ve noticed the humidity stays a bit to high. The berry is so thick and its almost a small fight to get through her to see her actually main stem lol

It looks like you have it together as far as your process. Skywalker is not a short plant, so expect a height difference. You probably will end up putting the Berry on something like a milk crate to keep up with the Skywalker. I only have grown the Skywalker, and it is one of my favorite plants. Anything Bomb sells is always good. I love the photo of your nutes, not too anal (lol). Happy growing bro.

Well, it doesn't matter the time period if the container is too big. Simple botany.

Your container has always been too big, is all. Stop water until the leave begin to lift.

And I know it is a problem to feed and water at the same time before the root ball is established.

Root ball is the step you left out, it seems.

That is why I do a low water, Root Hunt for several weeks, and only spray Cal/Mag and/or Nitrogen as needed. I have to get that root ball before I do anything. I set a clone in 8 oz of wet coco coir in a Solo cup for a week.

Those are already stunted somewhat from over water form birth.

Are the main stalks thin, hard and purple yet? If you keep this up, you will pinch and harden the main stalk as they refuse to take more water,

I have been there.photo 1(3).jpgphoto 4(2).jpgphoto 1(5).jpg

Yes, humidity. I run the humidity up and don't water much at first. I control it with container size.

They want very little water at first, and they love humid for Veg. I go 80% RH but from an ultrasonic, cold fog tub, I put together.

so after reading your post it actually made me wonder a bit what the stocks look like... so i went to check them out. The main stalk is thick. How thick iam not to sure. as for the purple. There is no purple to be found anywhere in the stalk. I do agree about the too much water and should of planted in smaller and transplanted after a couple of weeks. But this is the way i went and for my next grow ill be transplanting for sure.I know that there short at the moment. But they are growing. And from everything i read Indica for the most part can take up to 6-8 weeks of veg to hit that 12 inch mark. i could be misguided buy that info but for the most part i got everything i believe dialed in some what .... for the the humidity ive been at 70-80 % for the last 3 weeks solid and the temp ususally is around 77 F and 64 F during there sleep time

I might as well use all of the FF stuff.... there is one that i didnt get and that was the Flower Kiss i believe its called... i was a bit discouraged by it for the only reason being is. I could find anything by anyone using it review wise.

Welcome to your new addiction! Growing weed is often more fun than smoking it....ok...that may be a stretch.

Over watering and over feeding nutrients is every new growers mistakes. FFOF is stuffed full of nutrients and I don't even give nutrients until almost 12/12......4-5 weeks.

Don't under-estimate how much these plants will stretch once into 12/12. It's not uncommon that they'll triple in size....sometimes more. I've never grown with LED's, but the better grows I've seen on here usually are not real tall plants.

Back to nutrients.....I would go very light on them to start...go with no more than 1/2 the recommended dosage until your plants start stretching.

LOL thanks!! lol ... Ive been using the FF feed chart at full dosage so far i havent seen anything out of the norm... The only thing i will say is that at week 1 i did cut the amount back by half. But after that its been full amounts. However. The cal/mag ive actually up the dosage by a 1/4 for what they recommend. Seems like alot of grow journals i come across seem like there's always a cal/mag problem. Not all journals of course! These 2 plants unfortunately are my trial and error plants. Don't get me wrong tho i do want them to come out the best that i can get them in every aspect. However i have DNA Sour Secret seeds that are on deck next and i smoked some of that stuff before and i swear that stuff rang my bell harder then any other weed i ve ever tried !

So id thought i would thorw up some pics !!! Heres week 4 Bomb Berry is 8.5 inches and Skywalker is 9 inches.. There still short for there age i think. But wow are they both fat little girls! Berry is on the left and Skywlker on the rightIMG_20140406_170544.jpg IMG_20140406_170529.jpg IMG_20140406_170539.jpg IMG_20140406_170551.jpg IMG_20140406_170559.jpg

Anyway today is a exciting day ! its the first flush day!! following the fox farm feeding chart scheduled ( Even tho i am 5 weeks in veg ) and both plants are a bit short of 12 inches i feel it time to flush and in 3 days from now flip the switch to 12/12 ! Heres a couple pics of the fat little ladies! Skywalker is shy of 11 " Berry is at 9.5" . Id go longer but after reading and reading i hear that Skywalker OG has a tendency to take off come flower. So it kinda sucks to flip the switch this early on Berry but it is what it is!

Well today i can say is a pretty exciting day for my! After 6 weeks of Vegging out and 18/6 light cycle is now time to make the flip to 12/12 !
Skywalker is standing at a 11.5 - 12 inch mark and Berry is at 10- 10.5 inch mark. Both plants look very healthy and happy ! The only thing that is kinda weird to everything up until now is there PH level. This whole time i ve been feeding them with distilled water. After giving them today'sIMG_20140413_120230.jpg IMG_20140413_121021.jpg IMG_20140413_121033.jpg IMG_20140413_120237.jpg IMG_20140413_121045.jpg feeding both there PH levels have dropped. I am not to sure if that's due to the flushing that i gave them last Wednesday. Which i used Fox Farm Sledgehammer or not. Ill have to keep a eye out next time to see if there is a change.

Well its feeding day here and here they are again! This is the start of week 6 on the FF feeding chart and the start of the second week in to 12/12. Basically start of week 8 in total. Skywalker is reaching in at 15 " now and Berry is 12-12.5" some small growth out of them. I did have the light only 12 inches above them both for the start of the 12/12. I readjusted the light to 16 "... Why well i figured that i would try give them the most amount of light possible at first and then keep it around that 16-18 " mark all the way through to the end. Weather or not that was a good idea or not i figured i would play around with it.

Everything seems to be going smoothly. Temps are usually hanging around that 23c / 73 f Mark during that day and at night usually drop to 18c / 64 f . Humidity is a little bit up and down with a average during the day 50 %. And around 45% at night.IMG_20140420_123451.jpg IMG_20140420_122513.jpg IMG_20140420_122441.jpg IMG_20140420_123524.jpg IMG_20140420_123504.jpg IMG_20140420_123848.jpg
