My First Grow using CFL's

how close is the top of the plant to the fluors? you gonna want it 2-4 inches away.. PAR is low from fluors.. and if the lights to far away its gonna strech them out and stress them.

PAR= Photosynthetically Active Radiation.. the rays of the sun.. like if your at the beach in the winter you wont get tanned cause the suns further way but the summer you can get sun burnt if you sit out there to long.. hps have a high par rating an if its to close it will burn the leaves even if you cool the area cause its Radiation.. fluors are sick cause they have a low PAR and basically have to touch the bulbs to burn really

Each light is about 3" away from the plants.

As for nutes I went out and bought Vigoro all purpose plant food. It is 24-8-16 which should do fine for vegging correct? It's also got boron, copper, iron, manganese, molybednum, and zinc, all in trace amounts of course. It says on the packaging its great for "hydroponics" and "houseplants"

I'm going to veg once there is a nice, strong root system and it has about 4-6 nodes.

My light cycle as of right now is 24/0 but I am going to 18/6 once I transplant

as of the 24-8-16 i think is NPK or some shit i dont know.. i use technaflora grow nutes its a 6 part nute and theres no number listing on them.. im not good with nutes.. i just like to see what people use cause if they out rage me with CFLS and flours you best believe im using there nutes

that nute will work for vegetation, don't and I repeat don't start fertilization untill around 2-3 weeks. You will just end up burning your plant and setting them back. I set myn back about a week luckily I saw the signs and flushed the soil before it got too bad.

Try to use nutes that won't burn, such as fish excrement. Feed your plant exactly what it needs without all the extras. You can get stuff like that at a walmart.
Are you going to move the cfl's closer? I think about all my plants would fit in that box. If you go 12/12 now they should stay pretty short. I have a few indicas i am doing like that and they won't reach 18 inches.

The CFL's are mad close right now and the plant seems to be stretching. Am I just getting nervous, and all plants seem like they are doing that when they are seedlings? I also don't have it right on top, I have 3 lights surrounding it from the sides.

I thought that too until I looked for the threads on here where people use 12/12 from seed. You should look it up.

I looked that stuff up and I figured since I am not doing a sea of green I might as well just let this one veg for a little.

Added 2 more 27 watt 6500K CFL's, hopefully the plants like them

18/6 is artificial spring time sun lighting cycle. since after dec 25th the days get longer and night gets shorter the plant is going to grow more natural then straight off a 12/12 cycle. if you push it on a 12/12 cycle its going to jump right into flowering as soon as it shows its sex. i wouldnt do it..

I think it will work. A friend of mine started 5/6 weeks ago like that with 5 plants, tho. He used 4 cfls 42w, 2 2' flouro, 1 LED array,... But still shy on light. Now he is gonna add a 105w cfl into the mix.
