My first grow//closet grow

I'm on the way to growing my first garden. My growroom is a closet with the dimensions of 55"x23"x96" and I am going to use the Ebb & Flow hydroponic technique. I have a 36"x22"x7" tray, as well as a 25 gallon reservoir that I am using in the system with growrocks and rockwool cubes. I was planning on using a 200 GPH submersible pump which has to go up about 1.5 ft. Will this be strong enough to fill the tray? I should be recieving my feminized seeds within the next few weeks. I plan on introducing seeds to some kind of fluorescent light and growing them under the same light for a 20/4 cycle for about two to three weeks. Then I plan on switching the light to a 600 watt HPS for a 12/12 cycle when I am ready to flower. I will put a couple of oscillating fans in the room for air movement. I was wondering, how I could keep the heat and the smell at a minimum without spending an absorbent amount of cash? Exaust and Intake fans are not an option. Also I am not too familiar with nutrients. Money is there for nutrients so I was planning on advanced nutrients with a little voodoo juice to help with the yeild, anything else I should consider? One last thing, I was also curious about the water cycles, how often do should I water the plants, for how long? Can you water them in both the light and the dark cycles? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I hear a lot of good things about Advanced Nutrients, that's what I'm going for myself.

As far as water cycles go it depends on your medium - some hold water better than others. Three to four times a day is typical. You want it to just barely get dry when the next flood hits. Some people say it's not necessary to flood at night, but there's no harm in it. I'd say to just set it to flood every 6-8 hours and let it run day and night. Even if the plants don't eat/drink much at night it's better to water a bit extra than to possibly hit some trouble with dried out roots.

Besides, it's not like you're wasting water by flooding at night - it goes right back to the reservoir when it's done.

I made close the the same mistake when i started my grow i flooded my ebb and flow table 2 times a day and then was told it was too much so now i only flood one time a day for fifteen minutes. They are ten times the size at least from when i changed to only watering one time a day and are still well hydrated, yeah sounded strange to me at first but it works and works well

oh my medium is hydroton only so it isnt even like they have massive water retention capabilities compared to rockwool

Gotta be real careful with the "if some is good, more is better" thinking with plants.

All plants need water. Only the aquatic ones grow underwater. If you water a cactus like you water an orchid you'll kill it (and vice versa).

You've got to learn - and then follow - the requirements of the plant you're growing.
