My first grow Advance Nutrients

I believe you, this is my first grow, AN is all I know, they got me with there nice Ads in High Times, plus I like the fact it's Canadian, Ph perfect technology is worth the insurance, would you mind sharing your nute plan for veg and bloom?
  • Not sure how you are quantifying that "insurance" as your plants seem to have some nute issues. I too start with a Promix type mix that I put together myself...probably also for about half or less the price of Promix BX (Peat, Perlite, Dolomite, Myco) but I have used Promix in a pinch and like it. I currently am using Jack's Citrus 20-10-20 (about $15 a tub and 1 tub lasts me 2 grows and gets me 2 lbs) as my base nute at a rate of less than 1tsp, per gallon, per feeding ...every feeding through veg. Towards the end of veg I start adding 1/8-1/4 tsp of Epson salts(pretty much free at Walmart ;) ) The Jacks's and Epson continue during flower while I add varying amounts of Potassium Sullfate also during flower. The K2SO4 is also cheap and one 5lb bag at something <$20 has lasted me over 2 years. Thats it. My stuff is frosty and tasty and when I walk into a room and open my little Witz container I am soon surrounded.

I know I have problems right now but I'm pretty sure I can turn it around, I'm gonna drop the Grow in my 3 part base and only use half the Micro as I would bloom for example, my next feeding I will feed as follows
Micro .50/half ml per L
Bloom 1ml per L
Big Bud 1.5 ml per L
Bud candy 1ml per L
Rhino 1ml per L
B-52 1mL per L
Nirvana 1ml per Litre
Sensizym 1ml per litre
Only problem with AN besides price on some of there products is the fact that there feed chart sucks and they tell you to over feed your plants, once you figure out the right mix for your grow it works, they have a 100% money back garentee.
Would you have a pic of plants to share? Please

It was your ingredient list that got me to post in the first place. Just seems it is being made more difficult that it needs to be especially for a first timer. I got lucky as my first time was guided by a long-time grower friend who was doing it in the previous century who had few options. As it turns out the options gardeners have been using for decades still work. MJ is a plant, much like others. Yes, it has its idiosyncrasies but the basics are the same now as they were in 1970.

or as they were before AN. ;)

Thanks man, I can't wait to smoke my first sample, curing process is gonna kill me, I do not want to taste it until cured right, I figure I would test my first sample two weeks in jar,
My first, I still remember...the moment I saw my first amber trichome I cut off a lower branch and smoked the result 4-5 days later.

Me thinks doth protest too much and from a "homeboy" position. AN has many detractors and one does not have to use it to have an opinion on it. For instance I get "about a pound" every harvest utilizing <$10 in nutes. What can you grow with $10 worth of AN?
Yes, the Shakesperian "protesteth too much" quote may be applied here. Sounds like an AN troll. I hear what you're saying about the inexpensive route. When growing outdoors, I'm strictly using my own worm filled compost pile and a few organic amendments from the farm and feed store -- them brew barrels or compost tea in 55 gallon barrels. Cheap AND good. I only wish I had the ability to do the same thing indoors.

Looking pretty good for the most part.

In the middle picture of the three I'm seeing signs of salts buildup in some of the larger fan leaves. The jagged edges of the leaves are curling up and browning. That and the very dark green leaves would indicate they've been fed a bit too much. Not bad at all yet but will get worse as flowering progresses.

Might want to cancel a feeding and just give water for the next watering or two. Either that or a partial flush then cut everything you listed in half for a feeding. I was just down checking my plants and they are getting that too so straight water to the end now. Plant A is coming down this weekend.

Just wanted to let you know that with out Grow and .50 ML Micro per L 1ml per L Bloom my nute mix is still PH perfect

Why would you want to switch to dwc when your just getting started? It has a very steep learning curve.
i am trying to produce the best possible results with my 4x8 two 1000 watt lights.
I figure DWC is the way to go, I still got a lot to learn but I will do what ever it takes to learn, I'm a perfectionist when it comes to things like this. I understand how the system works I am working on setup and controlling it all. I want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row, I am debating a water chiller, I grow in my garage in tents, I have fresh air coming in which keeps temps right where I want them, carbon filter taking bad air out, cool tube reflectors and ducting cooling my lights.
I'm trying to set figure out how to control everything with what I have to grow in 4x8x7 tent

Fair enough, but i would ask yourself if you could handle loosing an entire crop in a matter of days? Something that you spent a month or 2 or 3 working on. When the undercurrent and mpb hit the medi scene they were all the rage because of the super fast growth and you could grow monsters with those systems. Everyone started jumping on the bandwagon. After a ton of hard work and money to set these systems up people would start having problems with there plants and roots. Root rot is the biggest issue you face in hydro of any kind. And once you get it, most people found even with extensive bleaching and cleaning it just came back. All it took for most people was to loose one crop and everything you have gained over the last year vs growing in soiless was out the window and then sum. I dont know anyone still running these systems, everyone i know had them in the garbage after a crop or 2. I was about to build one of these systems for my 24 light room till I started to hear all the problems people were having and people loosing entire crops. So glad i didnt. I would suggest u stick to a soiless mix or try a coco or coco/perlite mix like myself and dial that in and you wont have any need to look at hydro.
