Well actually there is a doubt to the widespread "amber" thing -- there are 2 kinds, one of which you probably won't have - the so-called "true amber" that is only found in some strains -- and more typically in sativas.
The other isn't really amber but more brownish, that's when the cannabinoids start breaking down again. You definitely don't want that -- but I didn't see a single brown trichome in the micropic you posted. So you're good to think it over for a while yet (and wait for feedback from more experienced growers than humble me :D )

Something to consider too: breeder's flowering times should be taken with a grain of salt. Most people say add another 2 weeks to them and then they're more or less accurate.
Also, on my current grow, I only started counting flower phase when my girls started really showing buds (which was 14 days after the flip). The way they're looking, the breeder's flower time will be just about right. So it probably also has to do with when you start counting flower. I'm on my 1st cup of coffee so I won't browse back to check that but just ask when you started counting flower?

LOL @ the strain profile saying "moderate THC" and then stating it's over 20% btw
And really nice CBD there too!

The main reason I say they're not ready for a while yet is that the pistils haven't even begun drying up - the buds are still so juicy that they look they could want to fatten up more ;)
Thank you for the advice on trichs!!!..I thought it was funny how the breeder said 20% thc is moderate, too...lol I started this one flowering on Dec 21st... but 2 weeks ago is when she started to show...maybe counting flower days starting when she shows good bud production is the way to go..? Is this the standard for experienced growers?

Hey dude sorry ive been mia for a while. Ur plant is looking GREAT. Very nice job im impressed :). We are getting a warehouse setup along with my grow i havent had time to do much of anything i forget to check this after posting in my journal. U look like u got it handled just fine without us lol.

Gonna restate alot of what calliandra said cause .. dead on lol.

When its getting close to harvest all ur hairs will be curled over and ull have roughly 30% red hairs(with most strains.. but not all) at which point u want to start checking the trichomes religiously. It will kind of give u a hint of when to check. Id go more so off the curling than hair color because some are ready to harvest with white hairs. Its just kinda a guestimate of when they are getting close to flush time ... always check trichomes to be sure.

As for ur question about amber i typically start my flush when i start to see the majority cloudy wth some speckled amber which will usually give u a 90/10 or 80/20 finish if ur flushing for 2 weeks for sativas. During the 2nd to last week i alter my light schedule from 12/12 to 10/14. Last week of flush i change down to 8/16. This will speed up your maturation and fattening during your dark period. Do 72 hours of darkness before harvesting. Do your last flush about 6 days before cut down. That dark period should be 30% humidity, as low as you can get it for trichome production.

A couch lock isnt typically a bad thing especially for that indica strain. That will provide that pain relief and help with sleep ur looking for. Id shoot for a 50/50 harvest on an indica for the specific relief u are looking for. Amber trichomes as they start to degrade from cloudy typicaly have higher cbd which is the pain relief and sleep aid u want.some people even wait for like 70% amber. The only problem with doing that is you will start to get brownish colored trichomes which is basically thc degrading and has passed the harvest window. Id start flushing when ur 20% amber but thats my personal preference. On sativas i flush when i have 5 to 10% amber.

Im off work all weekend feel free to pm me of u got any questions. Keep it up
THANKS BRO! Coming from you, thats a huge ego boost...lol You gave me alot to digest and put into action this week. Sunday is the start of week 6 since i flipped her... As always you have given me alot of homework...lol...i better get busy :bigjoint:

Alright experienced folks.... Obviously this is an Indica dominant hybrid. . . I was reading that in order to not have serious couch-lock the plant should be harvested before they turn amber to avoid serious body high...

I read that I am supposed to harvest this girl when the trichomes are fully developed, and are clear with some being milky...this is supposed to not make the body high so intense...Well right now, thats where she is...Its almost day 40... too soon? I wouldnt mind not being chained to the couch...

Any thoughts? Tim Fox? KCC420?
too soon brother,, get at least 56 days in

I just found this thread near the end of your grow, but I have really enjoyed reading through all the posts. You have done a great job. And it always gets easier the more you do it. With the equipment additions you will be in good shape smoke wise going forward.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product,

Larry

Well Larry, it has been a journey...and i have learned a hell of alot about growing during these last few months...The best part is that growing these amazing flowers has taught me some serious patience, in addition to a new hobby i love.
-BUT-

I sure as hell havent mad it this far alone... I owe a serious thank you to the experienced growers like TimFox, KCC420, and many others...I would be lost without their guidance, and advice. If nothing else, RUI is kinda like family you can always count on to help. :bigjoint::clap:

Firing on all cylinders now...cant wait to see how the dwc does with the chiller. I also got all the electrical components up for safety. Flower tent is serious. Ventilation is working great - I am amazed to see how close i can get the HPS!!

After all this..I took a step back today and looked around at what started as a small cab...and how it has grown into a whole room...lol

Then I sat down. Lit one. And smiled bc it's my birthday.

Cheers Folks!

Okay... so... I'm thinking its seriously flush time...the trich's are around 80% or better cloudy and the hairs are getting some color to them... 20160201_111811.jpg 20160201_111346.jpg 20160201_111155.jpg

13 days from "Harvest" and she's due for a feeding tomorrow...Lights are at 10/14...working to get the humidity down low, but the hps has me at around 40%...I can get her to 31% with the led...Anyway, just checking in to make sure im on the right track...

I intend to. This is uncharted territory for me, so im being patient.... but vigilant not to miss the optimum window for harvest.

It's a difficult thing to do until you go through the process yourself ...until you put your hands on the plant... smell the flowers... feel the stickiness from the trich's on your fingers... I only know enough to be dangerous. The time for gaining experience is now.:bigjoint:

Ohh since we know now that ur touching them like crazy haha... start wearing gloves. Non powdered!!! The oils from your hands arent good for buds and u will pull off tricomes on ur fingers

Still goin... fed yesterday with 2 gallons of cal-mag-only water (150 ppm @ 6.8) Being patient... and not touching the buds...lol...even though they smell soooooo sweet!

DWC is set and ready... Thanks to ingenuity, a chiller, and home depot I can keep the water at 65-68 degrees no problem...will be starting a journal on this one tonight for those who wanna check it out!
