My 2nd, first time growing :)

Taking another stab at this...Thanks to those who are following from my previous posts. My first attempt was rough, and rookie mistakes killed my seedlings - but I'm not giving up!!

For my "First Grow" I have 2 White Widow Fems from ILGM seeds in the Netherlands. They are a tad small but i have faith. (see pics)

My medium is FFOF soil. will be adding 30% perlite, and not adding a bunch of water for the seedlings. This soil is rich rich rich and really holds water...lesson learned. The cups i will put them in are 2 in 1 cut so that they can be easily transplanted. I will not be adding nutes to this soil, as it has plenty to get the plant through. Just gonna feed these ladies 6.5-6.7ph tap water.

My grow space is a 2.6 square foot box of my own design with circulation/intake/exhaust fans, lined in mylar. I think it turned out well, with practice I should get some nice personal smoke. Shooting for 2 ounces total.

For lighting in the seedling/veg. stage I will be using what I have on hand for lighting. 1 galaxyhydro LED UFO 138w and two rows(2 or three per side depending on heat) of CFL's in the 5000k temp.

For flowering I will use the same lighting, but will switch to 2700k temp lights. I plan to drop and add more side lighting for better development in this stage. (see pics)

Will be attempting to LST these girls to get the best production... will probably need help with this...and flushing the plant too...

You are all encouraged to participate, help, and provide advice. Please no rants about what light is best. I'm doing the best I can with what I have for now. As a Veteran with PTSD, this plant has pulled me out of some rough times, and helped me feel normal again. That being said, I am tired of having to sneak out to pay a shady character 3x the price for my bud...And the worst part is this bud is "loud" for where I live, but bottom of the barrel anywhere else where people grow it... I know I can do better...So here I am.20151107_131703.jpg 20151107_124328.jpg

Thanks for stopping by!

Meant to mention that i will have the ability to add an additional 10,000k lumens of 2700k CFL'S for flowering... will that be enough?

Day 2 of germination... these ILGM White Widow seeds popped in like 18 hours...very cool!
Got the little ladies in FFOF which I have in 2 layer easy transplant cups. Soil was pre-moistened with 5.2ph water, and cut with 30% perlite.
As before, I put a small drop of rooting hormone in the hole before dropping the bean. This is to get good, rapid root growth.
Right now they are on 18/6 under 3200 lumens of 5000k CFL light (About 1260 lumens per foot in the 2.6 sqft. Box)

Temp is good and humidity is getting right... things are looking okay, with any luck I'll see the little ladies soon!

Did some talking with the wife yesterday, and she's on board to let Santa come a little early...looks like we're gonna get a tent with a 400w hps system. This one's complete with fans, inline 190cfm exhaust/filter, HPS and MH bulbs, dimmable ballast, light hangers, and a few neat extras.

I was going to stay the course with my diy box, but I invested so much in seeds that I really want this run to go well and produce a bunch.

Yes, I know HID/HPS systems aren't the best thing out there (although some would argue otherwise, as others would tell me that COB LED is where It's at).

What I believe is that HID/HPS is proven to produce, and for a 1/2 plant operation this system will take alot of the headache out of the equation.

I'm not saying this is foolproof by any means - - I am confident in my ability to fuck things up, lol...but I think this will work great. I have a nice spot in the laundry room that the 32x32x63 tent will fit nicely, and give me the ability to grow sativas that would be hard to do in the small box...I figure with the noise of the washer/dryer and the fact that it's an enclosed space with easy attic access for ventilation , this is what will serve my needs best.

oh wow, thats nice, dig the ghetto CO'2 maker,, and scissors and grow bag,, dang,, what a score

edit, if you do end up wanted a speed controller for your fan,, ( it will sound like a jet engine without one),, many of us love these variac controller,, sorry I know its more money, but you will see when you plug that thing in,, http://www.amazon.com/Variac-Variable-Transformer-300va-Output/dp/B006NGI8VS
if you do vent into the attic that will help with sound and smell for sure,

Tim's right, I don't really need one for my poxy little 60cfm fan, but your ones are powerful.

Also, are you going to be doing soil, or maybe some type of hydro?

Yeah, im going to have to get a controller. While stealth isn't my #1 concern due to where the tent will be - still no need to take silly risks. At any rate, my tent will be here Friday - just in time to start vegging with the MH bulb...I think this is where the dimmable ballast will come in handy...Im stoked.

This grow will go start to finish in Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil. From what i understand, you dont really need to give the plants any nutes using this soil. I'm going to watch things closely to be sure...Just figured that the simpler, the better - Especially with my first grow.

Wouldn't be there if it wasn't for help here from all of you guys!! The amount of support and help I have received in RIU has been incredible... maybe I need to move to Colorado, Oregon, or Washington...been toying with the idea...but to be around like minded individuals, growing in a place where I'm not an outlaw or afraid of being arrested... sigh... could go on about this for days....
