My 1st Bubbler Grow

Below is a Animated GIF that I made so far.

The pics start at about 2nd week I believe. I just put in 25% strength nutrients in the beginning. I'm at the point where I need to swap out water and go 100% nutrient strength. You will also see where I FIMed the plant and you really see she goes nuts after that and grows in just those couple days.

Lights are T5. 18/6 Cycle
Using the Lucas Formula with General Hydroponics.

She look good? Did I FIM correctly?

Input welcome.

That time lapse is good what kind of camera did you use ?
The Camera is just a simple wireless security camera you can get at most stores (walmart, target, best buy, etc). You just have to make sure that the software allows you to take a picture every so many mins. Set mine to every 60 mins and it uploads to a network drive that I have on network. It also has option to email or FTP if I needed.

awesome! what program do you use to make the time lasp??
I was looking for a simple GIF maker, but I wanted something that I could DL and most GIF makers are web-based now a days. I did find PhotoScape, which has alot more, but its free and works well.

The main reason I wanted the camera is this is my 1st hydro and my last soil grow got sick (but still harvested). Plus with this I will be working with mothers and clones and separate tents for light schedules. Wanted a way that I could monitor the plants health without the daily check up, mostly see if she gets sick. In time I will be picking up or making a remote monitor system that will give me temp, water level, PPM, and PH. Every grow is a venture into something bigger and better.

Yeah its a awesome way to watch your plant grow ill need to look in to getting one just make sure one your a doing it at night the light from the camera is not to bright as they would be a light and could stuff with the sleeping time for your plant

i am unsure what kind of light it would have if but she looks great so far good job

The camera uses inferred (sp) light, so I don't think that effects the plant during sleep cycle. I have not noticed any branches "reaching" towards the camera at all.

I did make a mistake and not relize how fast she would grow once FIMed, cause I burned the top leaves from the lights.

I moved the lights up to about 18 inches above, but damage done. She will recover easily though, just sad to see her hurt from stupid mistake.

Just a preview of when I go 12/12 and they shoot up. Will have to monitor the lights daily for that first week for sure.

Yeah some plants love to be topped and FIMed some hate it if the burn is bad just top it at the burn again and let it recover i burned one of my main colas in my first grow in late flower tried to get the light as close as i could to fatten the buds up

let's just say putting a 600w HPS 6inchs a way from the plant is not a good thing to do :) i am going to order one of them cameras next pay day and use it on my next grow

anyway keep up the good work looking forward to the next update

Well its been a few days since I posted my last GIF and DAMN. This little girl is becoming a woman right before my eyes. Its getting to the point where she is growing faster then any of my Autos that I have had, but never did hydroponic before.

This continues from the last GIF. Its about 5 days of growth.

She was FIMed in the 1st GIF you may see the "wrinkled" leaves on top in this GIF.
Not sure how much more I can give you in GIFs, the tent is smallish, and without moving the bucket to the corner of the tent, she will/has out grown the camera view.

I believe she may be ready for some clones to be taken off, but I do not have a 400 watt Halide light yet for my Bloom Tent. Going to try one 5 gallon bubbler with four 3 inch pots and one 5 gallon bubbler with 1 pot (like in GIF) to see different results. So I would be taking 5 clones from her, but I have at least another week before I will have $120 for the light. Im sure by then she will be ready to be clipped.

I have to admit, I am amazed at these results. I am very tempted to get another camera and do the same thing to watch the buds form. My god, to watch White Widow bud up and get snowy in frame by frame shots. I think a few people on here would splooge at that.

Again, suggestion and comments welcome. Enjoy and thanks.

Well this is not much of an update. But wanted to share just few pics.

The camera is getting to the point where its almost useless, only cause I don't have enough room in tent to picture the whole plant. (Which is a very good thing!!!). Here is the latest still image from the camera.

20141114_142313_00.jpg

As you can see, not a lot of view there. So I did take some other shots, hope they give you a better sense of growth and health.
20141114_141034.jpg 20141114_141047.jpg

Of these 2 pictures, the first one is a basic overview. Plant, bucket, water level meter, etc. The second picture is just a close up of the leaves, you can see which ones were "crushed" for the FIMing.

I can tell you it has been a good month since shes been put in the bucket. I just redid the water and feed her full strength using the Lucas Formula at 3 gallons (its 3.5 to bottom of net pot).

Ill tell you this, SHE IS THIRSTY!!! The tent has been kept at about 70F, keeping the window cracked to let in the cold air, greatly helps offset the upstairs heat. So I know its not cause shes hot, just thirsty. Not so much hungry from what I can see. PPM slowly goes down but no where near as much as I water her. I feed her maybe every 2 weeks, but this will be first full strength feed, last one was 1/2 strength.

I'm going out of town this weekend for nights, but back in morning, but I am setting up bloom tent Sunday. Due to funds, I am going with some grow spotlights in socket clamp style lights. I would much rather go with halide, but I do not have the funds for that yet.

The lights are 2700K and are 120 watt each, so for the space, it will ample to handle 2 buckets (one single net pot bucket and one quad net pot bucket).

So after Sunday, my plan is to trim off 4 clones, get their roots going (10 days) and then put them in their buckets and let them grow till about 1.5 - 2.0 feet tall (month) and switch them to 12/12 with the 2700K.

I'm interested to see how 4 smaller net pots vs 1 large net pot does side by side. I may even switch the camera to the bloom tent since its has a lot more room and I should get full view of plants even at full height (5ish feet).

So hope you enjoy the progress, and let hope I have been taking good care of her to continue for a long while.

Its been a LONG time and after some failures and some sickness, I have a new pic of my grow.

Since the last time, she got sick with Mag deficiency and some wild PH fluctuations. After getting some Cal-Mag and some Liquid Karma, those problems went away fast and new growth came in strong. Though a lasting issue, is that I could not get her to clone for the life of me. I have tried several different methods. Domes, heat mats, Hydro clone, gels, powders, scarfication, etc. Even tried to wait over 3 weeks for results with nothing to show out of any of the 6 clone sets I tried. Upon research, I learned that Fruity Chronic Juice is hard to clone (less then 50% success) and add in my limited cloning experience and you get 0%.

So I decided to let her run her cycle through to flowering and I moved her into the Flowering tent. My next mother will be Blue Dream with couple Blue Dream Autos in other tents just to keep things rolling while the mother gets ready.

Please pardon how bushy she looks. When she got sick and started to recover I didn't want to prune off any leaves till she got healthy, then she started to out grow the tent. This pic is about 5 days old. Under a 400W light and it gets about 80-83 in there when on, but I have cold air going in. PH is alot better in line. She is still thirst. If I fill her up to just under the net pot, she will easily drink up 3/4 - 1 gallon of water in 1-2 days. With the higher temps, I kinda expected that, but the bulk of the root ball is right there, so lots of little thirsty mouths.

Hoping that she will be ready around end of Feb, but more the likely middle of march, but she will say when shes ready. Waiting for those 1st signs of buds to show themselves. :-)

Sorry for the delay, but hope you enjoy her progress.20150119_204401.jpeg

Well last week was harvest day. It was a busy weekend so sadly no pictures.

Final results were:
7 ounces of useable buds
3 ounces of popcorn, kernel, and crystal leaf (Wax usage)

So 10 oz in all. I was surprised to say the least for a 5 month grow, first DWC and only 3rd grow.

Next step will be learning how to SOG and Lollipop and learning more to get that 1P plant.

Thanks everyone.
