Ms Big Beautiful Buds Simultaneous Grows – Pre Grow – First Grow – Second Grow

Week #3-#4 Flowering – (Week #15-#16 total) -Pre Grow

– AK-48 #1 – Shiva Shanti #1

The ladies are now under two 400 watt HPS lights. The plants were so tall and my grow area not high enough that I burned and scorched my ladies pretty badly. The AK-48 was burnt so bad that I went ahead and clipped one dead burnt bud off. I put it in the microwave to fast dry it out a bit and smoked it. I feel so terrible cutting buds and they are no where near close to harvest. I could feel the affects of the smoke and I did get a mild buzz.

I put tomato cages on my ladies trying to hold them down so that they don’t get burned any more. I now know that if I continue to grow in my current setup that I am going to have to vegetate fewer weeks for shorter plants. I really need to get my real grow room setup before I start growing through the summer. Call me lazy bones…

When I repotted my ladies I forgot that I had added the Nirvana Flowering Tablets to the pots. This means that I will only use plain water and maybe a little molasses once a week. I had the tablets, so I figure that I would try them out with this grow.

Posted pictures (March 19) on RIU to get some help diagnosing my problem with the burnt crispy leaves, mostly around the top of the plants. It was as I thought light/lumen burns; someone also suggested a little nitrogen burn as well. I was told to remove the damaged leaves so that disease would not start through them. I removed the leaves and saved them to dry because they had started to get sticky.

Week #7-#8 - Seeds and Clones #1 - First Grow

– Clones/Cuttings (13) AK-48 #1ABCD (4), Shiva Shanti #1ABCD (4)

The clones are now seedling/plants and doing well after transplanting to larger pots. I think I am going to use these pots all the way through. Topped on March 16 for second grow crop.

I will start using the Farm Fox nutrients with the clones and seedling. I amended my FarmFoxOceanForest soil making a version of Sub Cools Super Soil. I didn’t have the blood meal, humic acid or the rock phosphate, I used what I had. I plan to use just plain water for next few weeks or until I see the need to add the Farm Fox nutrients.

Still have the suspected #1 male clone in with the flowering plants to see if I am correct when it starts to sex. It hasn’t shown sex yet. I was right he showed his, RIP.

One plant AK-48 #1D is long and lanky, I’m thinking about taking more cuttings for it to see if it will bush up a bit. Still having a difficult time with the two AK-48 (EF) cuttings that I am trying to root (these two broke off accidentally while I experimented with LST and the stems were woody), they don’t want to take root. It looks like the one that I have in seedling mix “might” make it. The one in water is questionable. If the one in water roots I will experiment with the Hempy Bucket method of growing using perlite and vermiculite.

– Seeds Snow White (1)

The seed sprout/seedling is now a plant, and is doing well after transplanting to a larger pot. I think I am going to use this pot all the way through. Topped on March 16 for second grow crop. I will probably take at least 2 more cuttings in the next few weeks because this is the only one of this strain that I have.

Week #1 - Seeds and Clones #2 – Second Grow

– Clones/Cuttings (4) AK-48 #1A.1, B.1, C.1, D.1 - (4) Shiva Shanti #1A.1, B.1, C.1, D.1 - (1) Snow White #1A – (Total of 9 cuttings, AK-48 and Shiva Shanti second generation, Snow White first generation – March 16)

Amended and used Roots Organics soil mixture for the second general clones/cuttings for AK48, Shiva Shanti, and Snow White. I added perlite, vermiculite, sand, greensand, Epsom salt, bone meal, bat guano and kelp. Placed cuttings in humidity dome over my Kombucha heat mat, which I insulated with a pair of jeans and a piece of reflective insulation so that it would not get too hot and cook my plants.

– Seeds Blue Mystic (1)

Finally, I germinated a Blue Mystic bean/seed. I soaked it for 24 hours in a shot glass placed on the shelf with the cuttings. Then it was planted in a peat pot with the same soil mix as the cuttings and placed alongside the cuttings in the humidity dome with the cuttings. Once it sprouted I placed it in a zip lock bag partially closed and placed under a 13 watt desk lamp for some light and warmth.

Hempy Grow – Still waiting to see if my problem clone is going to root so that I can start - Thinking about waiting a couple of weeks and taking another cutting from Snow White and testing rock wool for the first time to root.

Damm awsome set-up and very interested on seeing how the tabs work out for you. Sub.
I plan to use the Soiltabs and the Flowertabs from start to finish on a future clone(s). I want to compare the difference on how it works compared to adding different nutes to each watering. It is so simple to drop a tablet in the soilmix and only have to water from that point on, but does it actually work. Everyone has their way of growing and there are so many successful ways to grow MJ. I am trying to find the best way for me to grow.

This is not my official Journal post, but an update on my two plants in my pre-grow. I’ll post my Journal later today or tomorrow.

Once again I burned the S*** out of my ladies. This time I had made a minor change in the grow area by removing the mounted fan because I needed that smaller fan for my clone room. Instead, I put a big floor fan in the room to keep the temperature down. Well, I did a little too much Saturday night partying and didn’t get out of bed when lights came on. I always check on my grow room first thing in the morning, before I have coffee. I went to attend to my grow about or hour or so later than usual. The temperature was well into the 90s, the surface exposed to the light of my buds were fried crispy. Damn, damn, damn! Before this happened whenever I had to reach into the plants to remove a dead leaf or check the buds my hands would come back all smelly and sticky. Now that top surface is dried completely. I bought my first ever glass pipe the following Monday, my Pink Lady. I got antsy and wanted to try it out but I didn’t have any thing to smoke, at least not until I harvest this pre-grow. I got the bright idea to see if I could scrape some of those crispy fried buds onto a paper plate so that I wouldn’t lose them while scraping. I smoked a partial bowl and it was good, nice and smooth, no harness whatsoever. I got a decent buzz. I stored the scrapings in a plastic baggy. The next day I rolled a thin joint and smoked a third of it, I was almost sailing, very nice, still no harshness or off taste. I smoked on that the rest of the evening and that night, I slept and rested well for a change. I scraped from both plants so it was mixture of both plants. I don’t know if one plant is more potent than the other, but together my scrapings are getting better by the day.

I checked my grow this morning I was surprised to see that the undersides of the burnt buds are getting bigger and the flowers are longer. I am so glad that I did not cut them off because I had thought about it while scraping the dried buds. The buds are getting fatter and tighter, it’s like they are healing and repairing themselves. I’ll be checking and looking closely in the next few weeks to see when it is time to chop. I will do a partial chop because I have too many popcorn buds down lower that need more light and time to mature. Once I chop the main colas the light will be able to get down to them.

Throughout this grow I have not thought too much about the final yield, I just wanted to see if I could grow and produce a plant with some potency. I know that new growers over estimate and speculate when it comes to the final dried yield, but I am estimating that I will get about 8 ounces wet from the Shiva Shanti and another 4 ounces from the AK48, that’s roughly about 2-3 ounces total once it is dried and cured from both plants. Time will tell.

Looking good, MsB! Awesome. Your plants look like you'll get a great yield! I wish I'd harvested only the tops of my plants and let the bottoms go longer. Out of 4 plants, I only got a little more than an ounce dry. I tried to +rep you, but it says I have to spread it around!

These are Week 11 pictures of the clones from AK-48 (4) and Shiva Shanti (4), plus Snow White (1) from seed. I'm waiting on my order of larger pots to arrive (to my Grow Store) so that I can replant and start flowering in about 2 weeks. I want to give them a little time to recoup after replanting and before forcing flowering. I also took cuttings from these (9) plants this week (a total of 24 cuttings). I am trying rockwool for the first time, so I'll see how that works. I'll show pictures of the clones next week, I don't want to open the dome just yet. I think the reason why all of my last cuttings died was because I was opening the dome too much. This is the second time I've taken cuttings from these plants, which is why they are a little scraggly looking.

These are my new babies all Nirvana strains, I think that I am finally learning how to pop a bean. Out of 8 I dropped and lost one, and the other one fell out of the nursery before it broke the soil so I just tossed it. I should be getting the Master Kush that I ordered later this week, when that arrives I will try to pop one of those along with one Blackberry. I know that the "Powers that be" our great teachers say to only concentrate on one strain at a time, but I need the practice.

Blue Mystic is the oldest 3 weeks - Haze, Ice, Rasphberry Cough, White Rhino, and White Widow almost 2 weeks old.

I don't think that I will use the Soiltabs and Flowertabs in a future MJ grow. I don't like "not" having control of what and when my plants get nutes. I will use them in my outdoor flower pot. I am currently using only the Flowertabs, and looking at my flowering two ladies and their colas, density and size I might change my mind again. They aren't great, but they are doing alright.

Thanks for the recommendation, this is what I just purchased and added to my growing inventory. I don't plan on spending anything else on ferts and nutes soon. This is what I will use with my recent cuttings and seedlings when they are ready for ferts. I am always open to suggestions and recommendations.

well that is quite the setup....i like everything you have there...Only differences I have the 9-3-6 Foliage Pro rather than the grow and Mag pro plus Cal-Mag + ....I use ro water so the cal mag+ is a must when using Jack's alone...the mag-pro is useful during flower for the sulphur

These are the best out there IMHHO so you are off to a great start with your nutes

Do you use ro water? Do you "make it rain"?

Lemme know...I can offer some advice if so.....

And dont worry MsBBB, you will always be my fave stalker as you were the first to notice and lust my wand...

I don't have the Mag Pro Plus Cal-Mag+, but maybe I can substitute Botanicare Cal-Mag+ 2-0-0 instead. I am going to check out the Foilage Pro 9-3-6, I didn't plan on spending any more for nutes, but I'll put it on my wish list. No I don't use reverse osmosis water, just use tap that has aired out for 48 hours. I will have to learn how to 'Make It Rain" so when my cuttings and seedlings get ready I'll be counting on you for that advice you just offered.

:leaf:At first I was a little jealous that you had another stalker, but I took another look at the wand and decided that I can share, it's too much for me to handle alone.:leaf:

it is Botanicaire Cal - Mag plus that I use with Jack's as well

The Dynagro mag pro has sulfur also which I find really helps resin production in flower

That's the crux of "making it rain"

When you decide to implement it I can help you customize it to your op

Thanx for the rep...Glad to help

Cant wait for all of you to have a go at the wand:twisted:

I did some rearranging this morning in my grow rooms. I've been saying for months that I have to get my final grow room completed because I was working in such a small area. Finally, the flowering girls moved into their larger and taller home. Being in such close quarters is the main reason why I burned my ladies several time, this last time during flowering was really bad. Today I did remove as much of the burned buds and leaves that I felt comfortable removing, I'll smoke that once it dries. I hope that within the next two week (when I plan to harvest) they will have recoup somewhat.

Now the amazing part...I took out my scope again to see if I could see any trichomes, in the past I couldn't S*** on that thing. I have beautiful trichomes sparkling all over. Most were clear, no cloudy ones, and a few amber. I am not sure, but the few ambers could be a result of the excess heat that burned my ladies. Based on what I saw I should harvest right on schedule in about 2-3 weeks. Yaa hoo! I wish I had a good enough camera to take pictures, it is such a beautiful sight.

The anticipation builds! I am about a week behind you on my first indoor soil grow. It is exciting seeing the trichs embellishing my lovely lady. She is just bag seed from some lemon skunk. No telling who her daddy was... coulda been her mommy. It definitely looks more indica, so daddy could've been dust in the wind as there were only five seeds in a very tasty and potent oz.. It is just so exciting seeing them get all frosted up!
I sound giddy, lol... just nice to be able to do this at home now the kids have grown and vacated! Congrats on your impending harvest!

Now you've got me all giddy! I ordered a microscope today so I will post pictures by the end of the week. I think I am almost ready to harvest what I have left that didn't get burned.

I got one of the radio shack ones. 60x-100x. It is very difficult to look at the trichs on the plant with that thing. I suppose I might have to make random snips to examine better. My hands aren't steady while trying to focus on the trichs. It's frustrating. I can see I have both clear and cloudy. However, my pistils need their bronzer yet. So, I'm prob. 3-4 weeks out. Just finished week 5. I was surprised to see the cloudy trichs already.
Shouldn't I be seeing more red pistils by now? Just a very few reddish ones. Buds are building day by day. So not much slow-down in flower production yet. I'm not complaining; 27" plant with a 11x3 inch main cola. The're several in the 6 to 9 inch range. Probably around 20 buds of decent size.
The buds look about the size of your 5 week pics. I was surprised by how much they packed on between week 4-5. I hear week 6 is pretty busy as well... I am not even going to guess the yield. I have no idea. I know I would be happy with a dry oz. Sorry to ramble on in your journal!... oh yeah, I culled out the tiny buds from below and vaporized the pistils... I was pretty glazed. Flavor was nondescript, however, it was a nice preview. Especially knowing it will get more potent! It smells like lemon cilantro... I hope that flavor comes through when cured... spicy lemon!
