Hey all,

I've got these Black Widows. 10 weeks flowering this Sunday. I popped them into 12/12 back on February 1.

Some of them started to frost over the past few days. These are some sample pics.

Do you have any thoughts/comments?

Thanks for the assist!

Black Widow is White Widow reworked by Shanti from Mr.Nice Seeds, who sell some of the least diluted genetics available. Good stuff for both growing and breeding.

Shantibaba: "A highly recommended strain for amateur breeders - the male being preferable."

I've decided not to pluck, yet.

The buds are like, extending and they really aren't very dark. I think they are still packing on weight. Will continue to monitor.

Rmax,

can you please take some pics without the HPS, hard to figure what you got.

I too am days away from my BW harvest, 10 weeks tomorrow but waiting till 4/20 to harvest one of them and giving the other a bit longer.

BW1 Will be harvested on 4/20 @ 4:20 in the afternoon, will get up at 4:20 AM to smoke a bowl to celebrate the day.

BW5 this plant is going to get some extra time, the bud are still fairly lite and airy but beginning to fatten up like BW1.

Is this what you mean by extending , this started about two weeks ago. Does not seem to effect the plant, as far as I can tell.

You can check out my post in the World of Hempy or Main Line threads. I am using a 400W HPS in a Coco Hempy.

I also have 7 clones from the two ladies above, 4 of #1 and 3 of #5. They are 5 weeks under 12/12 come Monday. They have been under my SS400 LED but will be moved to the cabinet under the 400W HPS when it is empty. Just like their mothers they are very slow to thicken up.

Some of yours appear to have revegged temporarily. Major light leak or messed up timer schedule.

Was one of my thoughts, and I went into the cabinet for about 10 min, totally adjusted to the dark and had my g/f put high intensity light up to the edges of the doors and saw no light leaks. It is in my garage and it is near total dark in there at night. This one plant is effected more by this than the other. I plan on replacing all my weather stripping I use as the seal on my doors this summer before my fall grow.

Scott with Mr. Nice says it's hormonal, we shall see.

Thanks for the response,

Reminds me of H&G shooting powder causing foxtailing and the hormone rumors as a result. Did he mention anything more specific, what may have caused the "hormonal" issue? Hormones affect the plants in many ways by default, it's what affects the hormone regulation and upsets the balance what matters.

Especially if your grow is in a cabinet in a dark space a light leak seems unlikely indeed.

While it seemingly may not affect the plant, the risk is harvesting the main bud too late waiting for those shoots to finish. Better to have a few foxtails with white pistils and clear trichs while the main colas is at peak.

Satvi,
I have a few reddish hairs, have seen no cloudy or amber trichs as of yet, but going to do BW1 on Monday, I like the crisp high you get. The other I want to wait for some cloudy and amber to compare the two, I have both of the mothers for those plants, my 7 plant grow are their clones.

Yes the hormonal thing is strange indeed, I worked with hormones and turfgrass while working on my BA. I could take a long node bermudagrass and shorten it by 80% or a short node bermuda and have the nodes stretch at least 50% with the right hormonal mix, It was cool to work with.

I did have some pH issues with this grow and it was right after I finely got the pH in order that this happened, maybe just a plant response after the stress. :wall: Shit, I've got a degree in Agronomy and I am amazed by something every new grow. bongsmilie

Tomorrow is the 70th day and I am going to scope the ladies with my 60/100 and see what I find.

Wow... those are some massive fox tails (second pic). Crazy. You should take a look at the trichomes at the part below the "extensions" with a scope or good camera. Like I said in a post above, the risk is harvesting the main bud too late waiting for those shoots to finish. If the trichomes are already getting amber you may just have to end it before those extensions are completely finished.

They don't look very fluffy though. You heavily overfed (PK boost?) them but the bud looks pretty good. Just be careful those dying leaves don't cause rot on the inside.

Here ya go - I put my 1000W Hortilux Blue in for the pics.

This is what I'm telling you guys about. Maybe they are fluffy??
Max, Look at that pic of BW5, now that is what I meant by lite and airy, or fluffy. Your's don't look that way to me. Our plants do look a lot alike, I am only using a 400W HPS but I am getting that stacked cola also.

I think your ladies look great, I plan to chop Monday, I will know tomorrow after I look at the trichs for cloudy and amber. Let us know when you decide to chop.

GR

I agree with Sati, you should remove those dead and dying leaves, don't invite problems.
