Moss beneficial?

So as I understand, if you're growing indoors organically you are trying to essentially let the beneficial organisms in the soil feed the plant, where you are mostly trying to feed the fungi rather than the plant roots themselves?
So if we want organic biodiversity to let all of these compounds assist the plants growth, what would moss be doing in relation to the cannabis plant on the soil? Is it competing with the cannabis or is there a symbiotic relationship/nutrients put into the soil?
