molasses or brown sugar?

Blackstrap molasses is what is left over after the 3rd boiling of the cane juice, where they extract what remaining sucrose they can out of it. It's a by-product of the sugar refining industry.

Blackstrap does still contain some sucrose, most of which is used up by microbes when applied to soil (particularly bacteria), but it also has significant amounts of potassium, minerals, trace elements, vitamin b-6 and complex carbohydrates.
