We have applied for an R&D license with HC. After about 3 months, we finally are very close to getting our exemption for the R&D license. Soon we will be applying for MMPR license. We are in Van City and looking for a local PUPL interested in helping out. Can share information. New to this Forum. Thanks

Does it cost money to apply for an R&D license? If so how much? Do you need a lawyer to apply for you or can anybody apply themselves?

Did you apply before you had a location?

Free to apply, no Lawyer required, however you must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Also have lots of patience. Must have a location to apply. FYI: Anybody hoping to start a commercial production facility should expect Regulatory compliance fees in the range of 260,000 to 398,000$ per year. Build this into your business models. Looking for a reliable, clean PUPL/DPPL holder to work with in Vancouver.

Regarding R&D licence, did you use exemption 67 of NCR or 56 of CDA? Or do you have chemist or pharmacist? I have both PUPL and DPPL's, and am researching best way to becoming LP. What would you need from PUPL? Also, please explain more about your $$ statement, thankyou. Supposedly HC is releasing statement end of June re MMPR proposal. Methinks MMAR will not change until after next federal election (Nov 2015?).

-----Just got new HC notice about June 19, and it looks like they are going ahead with set dates, June 19 to March 31 2014 being transition period. HC will have application forms for becoming Licenced Producer plus guidance forms, on June 19 also. No more PUPL or DPPL after March 2014.

So we have to continue on our original path. Looks like we got optimistic about a potential delay in our timeline. So much for that.

I emailed [email protected] for an early copy of the final changes. You people should do the same.

I found the pictures of Federal Minister of Health posing with fire department offensive. Whats it got to do with medical? Whats it got to do with sick people. More propaganda. As if she is standing their with the fire department and the new rules protecting society. Lets see pictures of the people that are sick and dying that need cannabis. Put those pictures in. Put the pictures of the faces you screwed.

I have also emailed for an advance copy, this is exciting news. Hopefully they will process applications in a timely way!

Regarding the transition period, there are other threads here and on other forums, indicating that the license renewals that have been going in for the last couple of months are still being issued for 12 months. In other words, people are still being issued DPPL and PUPL that are valid to June 2014. I think that means that there will not be a mandatory shutdown for MMAR on March 31, 2014, but in practice it will be later. Also good news for many people.

I think I read that what will happen is that all production must stop by March 31, 2014 but you can use your current authorization until the expiry date to sign up with a new producer.

Ok so now that we have the final changes in hand I will start working on this thread. So here is what Ive done. I had some questions which I emailed to health canada. Here they are. I will post answers when I get them.

"Before applying, does the proposed production site need to be equipped with all the grow equipment? Or can I apply with the empty building and then add my equipment once I am licensed?"

"Will there be a fee similar too a liquor license fee to obtain a cultivation license under the new mmpr? Or some sort of yearly compliance fee?"

Great questions Max. A lot of talk about fees and such, will be nice to see what they actually are.
